Ann and Mary

Ann and Mary Liz's Story!

Okay, Mary Liz, I think we should do fantasy. I had a good one about a girl trying to learn to ride dragons, griffins and phoenixes in this thing called Flightschool. To pass from 5th to 6th, they have to have their own Flightbeast, which they get from a place called the Firepool. It is a giant volcanic pool filled with Flightbeast eggs. The eggs chooose you, and no egg has chosen the girl yet, so she should be in 7th grade, but is still in 5th. On the trip that they take to the Firepool, she runs off into the woods because a girl is teasing her, and she finds a very small, ice-cold pool. In the pool is a single jet-black egg. She takes it in her bag and when it hatches she finds out that it is a dark magic little black griffin. Dark magic Flightbeasts are supposed to be excecuted, but it is actually very nice so she decides to run away so that they don't kill it.

I hope you like the  idea. Bye!

Suddenly, the Firepool came into sight. It was a large pond on a steppe carved into the mountain. The pool was crystal clear, and you could see the large bronze eggs at the bottom. Apparently, when a Flightbeast "Chose" you, you were able to reach in and find the egg without getting burnt.

They landed at the Firepool, in a line on the sandy area in front of it. Miss. Cole started talking almost straight away. "Sit quietly, girls! Now. Imagine that your thoughts send out a sort of wave. Try to project that wave out onto the lake, and when something stops it, a connection may have been made. Do not be surprised or frightened if you feel something drawing you toward the lake. That means that a Flightbeast has chosen you. If chosen, the hot water will not hurt your skin, you will be able to stay underwater for a long time, and you will be able to find the egg that has chosen you amidst all the others. No talking and ABSOLUTELY no touching others." Sally waited, and suddenly, a change came over her.

(("And if it turns out / It's over too fast / I will make every last moment last / As long as you're mine..."

*is listening to Wicked soundtrack*

NLB says "and somehow I've fallen / under your spell" thinking it's a clever metaphor because Elphie is a witch, but he is sadly mistaken. She's awful at magic, at least in the book. Also, NLB is a jerk with a pretty voice in TL5Y.

Okay, I'm done.))

//Shay//

"Shay?" said Sally. "Shay! Shay, where are you going!" Sally started wringing her hands. "Shay, what's wrong?"

Shay ignored her. Somehow, she felt drawn to the Firepool. It was crazy... But she thought she might finally have been chosen.

She was walking towards the water, but it was more as though she were just standing still and the rest of the world was rushing by her until she finally reached the edge of the lake. The world kept rushing by, and the last thing Shay saw was her classmates' frightened or shocked faces.

As Shay began her descent into the Firepool, Sally turned to her peers and sighed, "If she drowns, no one can complain I didn't warn her."

((No Good Deed is epic.))

Sorry, sorry, sorry if this sounds mean, but could we leave your last post out? It was Sally who was being chosen, (at least I meant for her to be) and Shay was going to get teased, run into the woods, and find an icy cold little pool containing a single egg. It's okay if you want to keep that last part, because of course we're doing this together.

((Omigosh I'm so sorry, I saw the name "Sally" and my mind interpreted it as "Shay." *headdesk* I feel like an idiot for giving her the name "Sally" because it looks *exactly* like "Shay"...

So yes, ignore that post. *facepalm*

...D'you think to minimize further confusion we should possibly change Sally's name?))

@Mary W.: Don't worry, it could happen to anyone. I thought it was Shay too, when I first saw it. I had to look back over it a second time to figure out that it was Sally.

@Mary W./Ann: Great job, both of you! I've been following this story for a while. Write more quickly!

Andy Percy (he said ercy to me yesterday, so I assumed his middle name was Percy) _ says rxog.

Thanks, Wolfgirl! Mary Liz, I like the idea of changing Sally's name. But right now I can't think of anything to change it to.

((Sure! This one will be pretty short, though, 'cause I have to go to school soon. Okay, starting from "And a change came over her"))

Lucille blinked and shook her head, like she was trying to clear her thoughts. She squinted, looked around, and then stood up. "Um, um, Ms. Cole? I, um, I think I..." Lucille broke off in the middle of the sentence. She started walking, smiling a smile that did not seem fake, like her smiles mostly were. She walked to the edge of the water, touched the steaming liquid with her fingertips, then pressed a hand to her cheek and dove in. A loud gasp came from the other girls. Ms. Cole drew in her breath, making a sharp, worried sound. Shay's eyes widened. She was surprised, shocked even, that Lucille, the same girl who shrieked if a lightning-fly got into her riding boots, had just jumped into a pond filled with bugs and who-knows-what-else.
