Map Fragment #3

Chatterbox: KYNGDOM™ Power of Fin

Map Fragment #3

Map Fragment #3

Friends, after days of sailing on flood waters, some of the tunnel explorers and I have literally just washed up on a strange beach. I'm too hungry and thirsty and sunburnt to tell you the full story right now, but here are the basic facts:

The badger is no longer with us. When the Giant Ground Sloth emerged, he gasped and ran toward the pit. It seemed the two were old friends from the days the tunnels were the Power of Claw outpost. The old badger threw himself down into the pit and caught onto the huge beast's fur. It looked like he was trying to hug it. But I'm not sure the Sloth recognized him. There was a tussle and a roar, and then a massive amount of water rushed up from beneath and overwhelmed us.

Either the drill or the Giant Ground Sloth must've opened some kind of underground reservoir beneath the Labyrinth Lands. The underground reservoir flooded the tunnels, the Labyrinth Lands, and everything within sight.

Sprocketville, my hometown just southeast of the Labyrinth Lands, was built to withstand devastating attacks of all kinds, but I'm a little worried about how long my family's supplies will last...

Anyway, it's a miracle my phone camera still works! But thank goodness it does, because we found a map on the beach, and I suspect it'll be of some use:

I think I drunk some of the water the wrong way. I coughed, some water flew off my fur.

I pull myself up on the beach. The moment I'm out of the water, I look at my watch. It's still working, so I press the intercom button. Bringing it to my mouth I say,

"Hey, is anyone there? Ben? Dad? Mom?" Ben's voice comes back,

"Trixie, you didn't use call numbers. Not that're numbers but-"

"I was just spat out of flooding tunnels and washed up on a beach. I have no patience for call numbers. Anyway are you guys okay? I don't know how big this flood is."

"We're fine. Ha! I knew you had something to do with the flood." I hear a fizzing in the back round, which makes Ben say,

"Oh shucks! That's my experiment! Gotta go, sorry! Mill pond over and out."

"Duckling T, over and out." I say, turning off the intercom. Suddenly I notice other voices.

"-iseowl." Feet sliping in the sand I run over the dune. Charlie Arra, Storm, Scarlet, Thimble, and Thisleclaw are all gathered together. I run towards them.

I have to go now, but I will post more later.

I wake up and cough out water. Where am I? The current must have taken my weak, helpless body out to sea-I don't know where I am. This doesn't look like anyplace I've been to, and I've been to every place possible. I am a mouse. The one thing I can tell is that I'm on an island.

I saw a few other animals on the shore. I saw a few other animals already walking around the island. I saw some still lying down on the beach.

Don't let BIG get their hands on that map. It may lead to one of the powers.

And as long as you're in Eastern Kyngdom, keep away from the dragon caves. They aren't on the map, but I expect you'll know them when you see them.

~Wiseowl
Trill's friendship with Melee and Charla made her despair more than me and Scarlette. We try to cheer her, but the only thing that would make her happy again, was the two sick one's health. Finally, having no other choice, I decide to call Elisa. I hadn't done this before because she was likely busy            umer|mcoughsp|yin|g|mehco|ugh on B.I.G. I dial her number. The phone rings once, twice, three times. "Come on 'Lisa!" I plead to no one. The waves seem to ripple in answer. I wish Sophia, my story teller, could change the situation. But it doesn't work that way. The magic of story telling comes to her, making her mind vivid with ideas. She's only the one who puts the stories together. At last, Elisa answers. "Wiseowl? What's up?" I can only sense a bit of frustration in her voice. "Lisa, my friends are in trouble," I say quickly. "Any chance you can slip away?" She hesitates. I hold my breath. "Sorry Owl Girl," she says, calling me by the Sail Haven nickname. "Can't spare any time. The Professor is being very cautious. I'm at risk any time. They keep doing spy checks. If I just disappear suddenly at this time, especially since I'm new, it won't be good." I sigh. "They're being that cautious? Did you catch anything?" I question, wondering if the opposing lab was up to something. "That's the problem, they're only telling the top scientists," 'Lisa responds. "I need to work my way up. Maybe some new inventions." She starts mumbling to herself fretfully. "Thanks anyway, 'Lisa," I say.  "I've got to go." She hangs up almost immediately. I groan. "What am I going to do?!" I tell no one. A voice clear as water cuts the silence. "There is a medicine thou may use." I just about jump into the air. I spin around, my cape flapping. I come face to face with a girl standing behind me. Her hair is blueish-black. She has a tan complexion, and green clothes. "What?" I say.  "I said that there is a medicine thou may use," the girl says. "'Tis made from the finest of sea grass and blue pearl." I study the girl. She wasn't lying. "Where can I find this medicine?" I question. She pauses before answering. "Um, the medicine is far." She say hesitantly. "But I happen to have an extra vial. Um well, I think." She fished in a bag as dark as the blue midnight sky.  "Here you go," she says, pulling out a small vial of pure white liquid. That was unusual considering that it was made of green sea grass and blue pearl. I turn away, anxious to get it to my friends. Then I stop. "Thank you," I say softly. The girl smiled. "'Tis of no need to me, now go give it to your friends. Pray that it makes them well."  I follow her instructions, wondering what is a blue pearl and how she knows what I was trying to do. As I run toward Trill and Scarlette, the girl seems to disappear into the waves.

Trill~

I am sitting on the beach, trying to figure out how far away Paralia is when Wiseowl runs up to me.

"Trill! Trill, I found something to help Meela and Charla!" she cries. Scarlet clucks.

"Wha...." I look at the vial in her hand. "If it works, I don't care what's in it," I say, excited.

Quickly, we run to Meela and Charla. Charla looks like she is about to puke, and Meela looks helpless.

"We can't do anything for Meela," I whisper to Wiseowl. She nods sadly. We give the vial to Charla, but she pukes when we go to give it to her.

"I'll help!" Scarlet rushes over and starts trying to mop up the puke. I laugh at the silly sigh-a chicken...mopping up puke?!-and give Charla the medicine. Immediently, I feel her relax. I heave a sigh of relief.

"Meela, you and Charla work together. Charla, you be Meela's eyes. Meela, you be her feet. Can you walk to our camp? It's not far," I assure them. Charla nods unsteadily, and Meela just stares. I blink back tears, knowing that this is hard for her.

But eventually, they start walking towards the camp, Charla crying out shaky directions whenever Meela gets too off course. Finally, we make it back, and dusk is falling. Scarlet rolls some fruits out of the forest with her beak, and gives them to Wiseowl.

I don't know what Wiseowl did with those fruits, but I tell you, it was the best fruit I have had in my life. After dinner, we set up camp. I carefully helped Meela and Charla to a tent, while Scarlet went to another and Wiseowl cleaned up. After that, I headed to my tent, figuring Wiseowl would be in there, but she wasn't. I poked my head back out, and she was sitting on the beach. Quietly, the only noise being the sound of the surf and my feet crunching in the sand, I sat next to her. We didn't speak, just listened. And watched. And then I sighed.

"I don't know what to do." I whispered.

Meela~

Everything was dark. I hear the sounds of voices and recognize Trill's voice.

"We can't do anything for Meela," she whispers. My fur prickles with annoyance, both at the fact I can hear them.....but mainly at the fact that she's right. I hear the horrible sounds of Charla retching, and then the glug glug of drinking. I press my pelt against hers and feel the fever go down slightly.

"Can you get back to camp?" I snap to, listening to Trill. "It's not far." She sounds almost pleading, and I just stare. But she was my friend, and she had helped Charla, so I would do it. For her. I let Charla lean on me and we walked back to the camp.

"Right!"

"No, no, left!"

These words would haunt me. Charla directed me as I carefully held my paws high and stepped over roots. Eventually, we got back to camp. I heard the sound of something crunching in the sand, and smelled fruit. Fruit? Fine. I liked meat better, but options were limited.

After the dinner (which might have been the best fruit ever), Charla and I headed to a tent. I lay down as Trill left the tent. Charla fell asleep almost immediently, but I didn't. I stayed up, thinking.

I thought about Charla's sickness. I thought about my illness. I thought about how kind Trill and her friends were. I thought and I thought.

Until I couldn't take the sadness anymore, and let the tears flow.

Charla~

I felt extremely ill. I don't remember much after the flood, but I definitely remember waking up here. Trill and her friends rustled the leaves as they walked up. She had a bottle in her head, which smelled sickly. I knew it was medicine. I opened my mouth to drink, but instead I felt phlegm rising in my throat. I puked. What a nasty taste! Quickly, I drank the medicine and relaxed instantly. It really helped. When I was better, I would have to thank them.

"It's not far. Charla, will you help?" Trill was asking. I nodded shakily and leaned on Meela.

"Right. Now left. No no, forward!"

It was a lot harder than I had expected.

Eventually we did make it to the camp, and Scarlet rolled some fruits to the girl/owl named Wiseowl. I sat down for the first dinner I'd had in days, and ate it all. After dinner, Meela and Trill led me to a tent. I instantly fell asleep.

When the girl is out of view, I jump into the waves. 'Tis good to be in water again. I watch as my legs turn into a tail. It's a thrill every time. As I swim back to the underwter cave that's unofficially my hideout, I wonder what Mother will say. I just gave away a bottle of medicine to a human after all! A glint catches my eye. A blue pearl!!! I can make more medicine. Sea grass is easy to find. Musical Grotto not only serves as a hideout from Victoria and her group, but also a lab for my expieriments(don't tell Mother). I brew all sorts of medicines and bubbly drinks that can stir up a wind or grow out your hair. If thou didn't guess, one of my greatests wishes is to become an apothecary. I'd like to help people in need. To see someone smile and know that you caused it is wonderful. Perhaps that's why I gave the medicine to the girl. Humans get sick from many things, but i watched the sick group and recognized their symptoms just yesterday. Anyway, back on topic. Time to make more medicine. Perhaps a little extra in case the humans need more. I wtch as I mix the medicine, the glowing blue mingleing with the green sea grass and becoming a shimmery white....

I sit, sobbing, on the beach.

Where am I? What happened? Where's Eli? I continue to cry. This is hopeless. How will I find Ecio, crash a ball, protect the Powers, AND find and activate Ayearth? Nobody knows that Ayearth is one of the nicest powers! I sob. This is hopeless.
