Chatterbox: KYNGDOM™ Power of Fin

UNDERWATER BALL GOSSIP&

UNDERWATER BALL GOSSIP

The sand is golden, the water is pleasantly bubbly, and everybody who’s anybody in Southeast Kyngdom is here. We’re your proud Sea Anemone hosts, Actiniaria and Hexacorallia, reporting LIVE from the most exclusive event of the year: the Enchantment Above the Sea ball, South Kyndom’s first-ever dry land-themed underwater ball. If you see us milling around, come say hi and give us the dish on all the watery gossip! You’ll recognize us by our wavy pink tentacles (quick shout-out to our sponsor, the Subaqueous Salon and Sea Spa).

Of course, in about twenty minutes, we expect the next Guardian of Fin to be announced, and believe us, the room is simply awash with anticipation. You can’t swing an underwater lasso without bumping into a group of whispering shellfish. But first, let’s turn our attention to the incredibly glamorous attendees and give you unlucky landlubbers listening to our broadcast a little taste of the P-A-R-T-Y.

Land ho, this place is sparkling. Each twenty-foot-tall underwater cactus is decked out in glimmering lights. The sand on the floor has been carefully blended with real gold flakes, creating a shimmering carpet underfoot. The punch is flowing, and graceful seahorses are passing out dry land-themed appetizers: miniature sea cucumber tacos, tiny teacups of coral chili, and nacho towers topped off with smoked seashells. We’re hoping to catch a glimpse of the celebrity chef that the organizers swam in for the occasion—he’s a clownfish who trained off the coast of France.

Most of the guests have adopted a look that we’d have to term “highbrow underwater cowboy.” We’re seeing a lot of denim gowns encrusted in barnacles and diamonds. Some of the wealthier guests are wearing silk bandanas and golden spurs. There’s even a cowboy hat or two—ooh, we’re seeing a scuffle unfold on the dance floor! There’s gold-tinted sand swirling through the water! Hold up one second, we’re getting the 411…apparently a Fangtooth Fish attempted to dance with a Vampire Squid, who turned out to be the date of a very muscular Frilled Shark. The sand just cleared, and neither Fish nor Shark is anywhere to be seen. Security here is no joke!

Naturally, the Powers are here in full force. They’re flexing their powerful…do dragons have muscles? They have to, right? They’re looking fabulous in formalwear specially designed by none other than the untouchable CERES AND COMPANY (we’ll hold for applause). And these drama-prone Kyngdomites even seem to be getting along, at least for now.

We’d be remiss not to mention the cornerstone of the décor: a giant ice sculpture in the middle of the dance floor, surrounded by tantalizing desserts (salt-water granitas, anyone?). The sculpture is carved into the shape of a massive and very realistic rodeo scene, but instead of a cowgirl, the artist depicted a breathtakingly accurate version of our very own Finny—the heir apparent to the Guardian of Fin. The little dolphin is portrayed so accurately that she looks practically real. In fact, if you glance at the sculpture at just the right moment, you can almost see her eyes move. Magical! At the base of the ice sculpture is a keypad that requires a code, but it’s unclear what it’s meant for. Does anyone have any information? Come find us and spill the deets—we’re all tentacles.

The dancing is being put on hold for a moment, because it’s time for one of the much-anticipated activities: some of the lucky guests are about to try their fins at roping sea cows. The massive creatures are being released from a series of gilded pens, while guests shriek and attempt to catch them with lassos made from kelp. This activity certainly fits the theme, but it’s looking like no one can manage to catch a sea cow. In fact, the cows appear to be taunting the guests. We can’t believe it—they’re lining up and dancing a can-can! Hold on, now they’re swimming over the heads of the guests and disappearing into the deep blue of the ocean. The organizers look irate.

Having just slipped over to try a bit of the punch, your faithful correspondents are happy to report that the punch is especially tasty this year. Jeweled Rockskipper!

There’s something a bit different about it…a certain fizz…a tang on the back of the tongue. Perhaps the celebrity chef is trying out a new seaweed-infused simple syrup? In the interest of full gossipy disclosure, we’ve been hearing rumors that the punch is spiked—but we’d have to try another cup in order to report back for sure.

Ooh, Imagine Sea Dragons is about to take the stage: their hair is gelled, their buttons are shelled, and they look ready to rock. Hope they play their hit single, Radioactive (Materials are Leaking Into the Ocean—Thanks a Lot, Humans). Looks like it’s time for these anemones to get their groove on—come find us at the dance floor and tells us what’s really going on at this party. The wilder the rumor, the more we want to hear it! Actiniaria and Hexacorallia out.

I shiver at the idea of working with BIG, they had taken everything from me and my mother… I shake off a new coat of sea foam as I emerge from the now frosty waves. It was becoming autumn, I could almost smell It, what I could smell It! I plunge back beneath the waves and spotted a pod of dolphins around across the reef that we were floating over. I darted away from the boat for a moment, and tried to reach out to the pail mammals. I tried to call out, but they didn't hear me under the water. I tried once more, “Excuse me? Can You hear me?” I was more so lucky this time. One of them paused, and motioned for her colleagues to follow her. Then she noded to the surface of the waves, and they all followed her above the water. “What are landlubbers like you doing hear?” the trill bottlenose dolphin asked “Actually, about that… were castaways from the underwater ball mishap… can you help us get back to land?” I motioned back to the fact that we were living on. She noded. “We know a small bay that recently got leged population. Shall we direct you there?” I grinned, “that would be perfect!”

Two small dolphins pushed me onto the deck, and the rest of the pod started to push the raft along, in a silent, splashy waltz. After three very long minutes, they stopped, but we kept drifting in that direction. “We put you in a tide, you should reach land shortly!” one says after the others left, then that last savior dipped back into the waves, and then there was silence.

Jaaws. You just unwittingly fueled my desire to kill you. Killing Claaws.....well I never!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so......just so right now#!!!!!!!

Trill~

I lifted my head above the water, gasping for air. OMK, had I been under there a long time! Meela and Charla came out next to me. We swam blindly in a direction. Suddenly it started pouring. The water got fiercer. I held my breath as a wave crashed over our heads. Then I broke water again. I flipped out when I didn't see my wolf pals, but they popped backup and I relaxed. Suddenly, I saw Claaws ahead. I cheered and swam for my life. But something was wrong. I couldn't see beyond Claaws, but something was wrong. I swam slower, before stopping all together. Suddenly, Claaws fell fowards onto the sand. I gasped as a figure smirked. Jaaws.

I shoved Meela and Charla's heads under the water as Jaaws swung her head towards us. I ducked under with them. The waves shook as Jaaws left the water and flew away. I bobbed up and swam like mad for the shore. Quickly, I shook off and ran to Claaws. I knew at once she was gone. I let out a sob and hugged her body. How? How?! I noticed her head and ran over. Nothing....wait. Brazen Goo. I fueled my fire and roared in annoyance. Then her body slid into the water. I moaned and sank onto the sand. I saw it settle at the bottom. A creature ran towards it and grabbed some th ing before vanishing into the watery depths. It was only then that I realized Meela and Charla weren't on the beach. I gasped as I realized they must still be in the water. A tear ran down my cheek. I looked around no one was there. Another tear fell.

I was alone.

I'm kinda confused on what's going on.

I flew away after freeing the dragons at a branch of BIG, and headed my way to the location of the ball and stopped at the shore, prepared to dive down again for the second time to see the ball.

Guys if u don't mind I'm still going to post under Claaws but I'm writing in Caelani's view.

~Caelani

So....So....tired.

The storm batted his wings and made each feather sag, dragging him down from the upstart he was ridding.

The waves beneath him were salty and white with foam, slashing and roaring in the storm. The rain pealted him and swept into his sky blue eyes. Down his slick beak and down into the churning water.

Thunder rumbled in the distance. Lightning flashed to far away to see. His wings batted away the mist that was now forming above the sea.

That's weird... his tired brain mumbled there hasn't been mist since Whist was killed.

But he didn't think anything more of it. He flew on for a few quite heartbeats, then it came.

With the shock of a landslide.

A large rip in his chest, the internal wail of something in deep agony. The splash of something large and heavy sinking to the see floor.

The heartbeats of anxiousity.

Then the flare in his chest of a dieing Power. Claaws' face flashed in his head, followed by the words,

I am defeated. I failed. Kyndom will resent the day I am freed.

He reared, his wings suddenly full of energy.

He must get back.

Claaws is dead.

He had never felt the pain of a Power during before. For last time, he was the first to die. Now Claaws was.

Was this it? The start of the death of the Powers? Again?

He flared his wings and stopped abruptly in the air. His back dipped down, causing everything on it the fall into the air, and then the sea. "BIG! It's BIG!" One cried in shock before it plummeted into the sea.

Caelani doubled back, swooping low over the water, then back up, high over the Gray clouds.

Claaws is dead.

Somehow he couldn't prosses it. It seemed they were just activated, now dead again? Who was next? Would they even get to the others before they all.....die? Or we all die?

How long infill history is repeated?

We're on the way home.

Home. Land. Shore.

I'm too tired to stay awake, and I'm too awake to fall asleep.

Claaws... is gone.

I stare at the water, having nothing else to do. Icy sits next to me, her feet just trailing in the water.

She sighs.

We say nothing and still communicate a world of thought.

*********************************

I must've fallen asleep, for I open my eyes and I am under a blanket. Stretching, I get out of my makeshift bed and survey the scene.

It's very quiet, for one thing. The animals don't say anything, Icy paddles using a old shard of wood, and Laria is in the crow's nest. Pheonix is boiling a pot of water, and Vivean is catching fish. No one speaks. At all.

Except for Laria, who at that moment shouts, "SHIP!"

There is a hubub, and everyone goes to portside.

A gleaming ship with a large symbol on the front comes towards us. It's not until it's directly in front of us that I notice the BIG symbol.

I grab a piece of rope and try to get it lodged on the ship, but it does nothing.

Then I realize that the current is pulling us toward the ship. If we stay on too long, we and the raft will be crushed.

I suddenly grab a piece of bent metal and tie it to the rope. Using it like a grappling hook, I nearly grab the ship's railing.

We approach the spinning propellers at the stern of the ship at an alarming speed.

Everyone is now trying to reach the ship, having noticed our situation.

Icy grabs the rope from me and throws it with a strength I didn't know she had, and it fixes onto a ladder.

We're about ten feet from certain death, and I can feel the ocean spray churned from the propellers.

The rope is still slack, though.

Screams fill my head, and I think my last thoughts...

...as we are flung on the deck of the ship, a terrible crunch coming from beneath.

guys, Im realy cunfudled hear, whats going on?

As far as I know, the ball exploded, everyone was on a tink raft dinky invention, thanks, and we had no idea what happened! Characters that is. Now claws is D.E.A.D, half of the people are still on the boat, then some are asking animals for help getting back to land, and some others are going thru a very dark state back on land, and they were at the party and the boat! None of this makes sense, so can somone give me a solid, and tell me EXACTLY what's going on here? I don't want to write something that does not line up with someone's story, or just break it completely, when I just got back from camp and have not read in a week! And please don't just point me to the old updates, most of them were written before all the new chacos.

I'm not quite sure what's happening either, but I think that since we were on the rafts, someone found Catastrophe (I don't know who, sorry) and dropped him on a boat/raft with Ronan and probably some other people. Then Claaws spotted Jaaws above the seacraft she was on and the two fought and Claaws died from Brazen Goo that Jaaws had, but apparently she's not forever-gone because Powers have died and returned before. The Power of Fin (which may or may not be a fake, it was unclear) fell with her and is probably resting on the seabed with her. The sky is dark. Someone said Claaws fell onto or near a beach, but someone else's post had her fall under water, probably in the middle of the ocean. Everyone (except Jaaws) was mourning when Laria spotted a ship, and of course yelled out. The raft somehow got close to the ship really fast (maybe it came during the battle?), and there was danger of their crashing, but then people started throwing grappling hooks which seems to have somehow saved them.

Sorry if this is inaccurate, I'm doing my best.

Trill~

I swam out to sea, searching frantically for my wolf friends. I spotted a ship on the horizon, and swam towards it, panting. I noticed my friends on a raft, attempting to climb onto the ship. I gasped. It was really them!

"Guys!" I cried happily. Then I noticed the giant vents with spinning blades. I screamed. Icy threw the rope onto the ship. I noticed everyone and holding on and screaming. I noticed them make it onto the ship. Then I heard the crunch. I froze, assuming the worst. Did one of them not make it?! I couldnt believe it. As the ship left, I didn't bother to follow. I knew I couldn't reach it and besides, I had an investigation. I slid on my sea glass goggles I had gotten for the party and held my nose. Taking a deep breath, I ducked under the water.

I noticed fur and bones on the bottom of the sea. I resisted the urge to cry and dived deeper for confirmation. It had been Charla. I was running out of breath. Quickly, I pulled up and swam hard. JuSt before I got dizzy, I broke surface. Panting, I took off the goggles and wiped my eyes. I opened them and swam after the ship. For some unknown reason, I had a feeling Meela would be finding my friends soon.

After I caught up with the ship, avoiding the deadly vents, I looked for a way on. I noticed a ladder on the side, a few feet up. If I timed my jump with a wave, I just might make it. I found a shallow area and jumped higher than I ever had before. I felt time slow as I reached for the rungs. I felt cold metal beneath my hands, slipping. I gasped loudly and fixed my grip. I was on.

I crawled onto the ship.

okay CLARIFICATION:

We are NOT on land, or anywhere near it. The raft is drifting out towards sea, and the birds accedantly flew back towards sea and not land. I think someone found dolphins who were telling them about an island and pushed them on a current towards it. That was after Claaws died.

And...................

I'm lost after that.

(August 7, 2016 - 6:16 pm)

I scramble up onto my feet, then stagger back down. “No No No!!!” I Think as I see the red symbol gleems thru the fog. The same red symbol that i've seen thousands of times in my childhood. Okay, calm down Vivean, you're probably overreacting, calm DOwn… WHY WON'T YOU CALM DOWN!!!???! Eventually, I find myself hanging over the deck, staring down at the water, just when I thought I've had enough of these two things, water and the big symbol, that's the only thing I can look at. I glance back at the deck full of animals, just waiting for something. I shiver at the thought of what the B.I.G. workers would do to us. I don't think even mom would take a group of children animal mixtures seriously.

Double doors swung open and out stepped the head lady herself. “Well well well! I'm surprised! Why do we have such unexpected guests? What do you think we should do with them?” she glanced at a tall man that was standing next to her, but he didn't notice, he was glaring at my companions, especially Icy for some respond. Cornelia Horshaw glanced at the anonymous man, who realised that she was talking to him, simply replied “It's up to you, but if you haven't noticed, there are couple old inmates from, both locations, and I'd be happy to expand that list.” I shudder, Now I wish the otter had given me a vail or something to cover my scars.

"I'd be happy to expand that list."

"No," I respond.

"What?"

"You aren't going to put us in your cages. We-" I looked around at the animals, most of them staring at me as if I were going mad-"or at least I-come in peace. You can't ignore that some of your agents died a week ago."

The man plasters a false smile on his face, and Miss Hornshaw looks pained.

"A murder occured last night, and the accused will stop at nothing."

Miss Hornshaw looks warliy at me. "I'd like a chat with you, boy."

The man looks incredulously at her. "Cornielia..."

At that moment, something- I still can't put my finger on it all these years later-breaks inside Miss Hornshaw.

"DID YOU JUST HEAR WHAT THE BOY SAID? THERE'S MURDERERS ABOUT, AND IF YOU WANT TO KEEP ON DOING STUPID TESTING ON ANIMALS, FINE! FINE! JUST DON'T EXPECT ME TO FEEL SORRY WHEN IT'S YOU WHO'S BEEN MURDERED!"

Miss Hornshaw looks at me, a steely look in her eyes. "Come to my office. I want the whole story."

What can I do but follow a woman who just yelled at her boss because she believed me?

So, currently the group is on a B.I.G ship. And... *reads Vivean's comment* ....dad?

~Icicle 'Icy' Soul

My eyes search the deck for some way to escape. Some place to hide. There's none. Claaws is dead. My dad's here. I feel like I'm dead. My eyes dart around untill they find Caelani. Caelani. Oh my Kyngdom, Caelani.

I feel my feet running towards him and I hiss at him to go, to get out of here, to fly off now. His talons are planted. "GO!" I yell. "GO NOW!" It's the first time I've raised my voice....in a while... in a long time....

But Caelani is planted firm on the deck, and I can tell he means to kill (those B.I.G workers). I hear footsteps behind me. My voice chokes as I say--"I don't want another Power dying. You can't die again!" And then I get grabbed from behind and I'm pulled backwards and then under the deck just as Caelani takes flight.

~~~
Me and Anwen are in a comfortable room belowdecks. Probably a 'B.I.G dad' perk. But all I can do is go over in my mind what happened. Claaws getting hit by Jaaws. A white owl. Talons. Claaws sinking. Brazen Goo. Death. Danger.
I failed. I was right there. I could've at least done something. Or Anwen could've. We both failed. What's happening with my emotions! They're just going over and around and tumbling and flying through the air. How can emotions even do that!?
Anwen walks over to the door and tries it. It's locked. No suprise there. Then she tries the window. It swings open, revealing salty sea and fog for miles stretching out. I look around for anything we can use. It's hopeless. But then my eyes come upon a periscope, old and rusty, probably decorational.
The window is small, but so am I. I climb into it and carefully position myself, looking through the periscope. If I stretch out and position myself just right, I can see the deck. Hornshaw is up there, wobbling on her high heels, her hair put in a bun with not a hair out of place, her furs pampered and positioned. I feel like growling at her like a wolf, I really do.
But I'm not a wolf, I'm a human--but Vivean is both. I see Vivean transform in a flash of light into a wolf and snarl. A guard cocks his tranqulizer gun. Hornshaw sees the wolf, fans herself, turns around, and exits belowdecks.
"What's going on?" Anwen asks. "Guards are using a Cypher to talk to them." I report. "Now?" Anwen asks. I suck in a deep breath. "What just happened?" "They don't know where Ecio is, although he's right in front of them in Badger form." "Did Caelani get away?" "Yes." I say. My heart sinks.
I walk to the bunk bed and slump onto it. I can't look anymore. I hear yelling. "How are we going to even do this?" I say bitterly. "Claaws is dead. We need all of the Powers to save Kyngdom." I say, then feel a tinge of regret. Is that the only reason I liked Claaws? No. "I mean, I don't want to sound cold-hearted I miss Claaws and-" I start crying.
After some trading,  I spot a ship travling through.  It's got sign on it... B.I.G?  This is not good.  I think.   Then Marrow yells something.  Something about going on to the boat.  So I do.  Telporting away, I aim my target on the boat.  Opening my eyes.  I find myself in the... Storage Compartment?  Anyways I hear something.  Jumping behind a box next to me.  I hear this:
"We're nearing the location."
"Good."  I recognize the voice.  That voice...  I'm scared now.  Each time he speaks, I feel a spear through me.  The pain and voice is familer.  It's Him.  Aspen. The person, -No, the Monster, Who killed almost all of my family.
"Don't worry. Boss.  I had my servents go after the party beforehand.  It was hard getting Hornshaw to let them go.  But I got her to agree."
"Those dragons you tamed?  You sent them over there?"  When I hear that, my heart begans to sink.  Dragons.  We were dragons.  Did he even dare to?  Did he do it? En..n.nslave my...Parents? I can't even bare the thought.
"Yeah, boss.  Those dragons are strong." Then I hear thumping.  What walks into the room next makes me almost faint.  They're my parents.
"Oh,  Here they are."  Says Aspen.   After some time of asking what happened at the ball,  The other human says:
"Let's go talk in my office."  Then they leave.  As they leave,  I take a note at my parents.  They have 2 new scars. Their eyes are glassy,  Like they aren't themselves any more.  After they leave, I began to cry softly.
Laya... I don't know what to say.
I know. I knew Aspen was mean, but I never knew he was this cruel.
I'll you leave alone for some time now.
Thank you, Marrow.  I cry for some time.  Then for the next few hours I keep swiching between crying, hiding, and eating.  Man, the meat is good.  Then I hear something..Prisoners? Hopefully They don't get me.
