Chatterbox: KYNGDOM™ Power of Fin

UNDERWATER BALL GOSSIP&

UNDERWATER BALL GOSSIP

The sand is golden, the water is pleasantly bubbly, and everybody who’s anybody in Southeast Kyngdom is here. We’re your proud Sea Anemone hosts, Actiniaria and Hexacorallia, reporting LIVE from the most exclusive event of the year: the Enchantment Above the Sea ball, South Kyndom’s first-ever dry land-themed underwater ball. If you see us milling around, come say hi and give us the dish on all the watery gossip! You’ll recognize us by our wavy pink tentacles (quick shout-out to our sponsor, the Subaqueous Salon and Sea Spa).

Of course, in about twenty minutes, we expect the next Guardian of Fin to be announced, and believe us, the room is simply awash with anticipation. You can’t swing an underwater lasso without bumping into a group of whispering shellfish. But first, let’s turn our attention to the incredibly glamorous attendees and give you unlucky landlubbers listening to our broadcast a little taste of the P-A-R-T-Y.

Land ho, this place is sparkling. Each twenty-foot-tall underwater cactus is decked out in glimmering lights. The sand on the floor has been carefully blended with real gold flakes, creating a shimmering carpet underfoot. The punch is flowing, and graceful seahorses are passing out dry land-themed appetizers: miniature sea cucumber tacos, tiny teacups of coral chili, and nacho towers topped off with smoked seashells. We’re hoping to catch a glimpse of the celebrity chef that the organizers swam in for the occasion—he’s a clownfish who trained off the coast of France.

Most of the guests have adopted a look that we’d have to term “highbrow underwater cowboy.” We’re seeing a lot of denim gowns encrusted in barnacles and diamonds. Some of the wealthier guests are wearing silk bandanas and golden spurs. There’s even a cowboy hat or two—ooh, we’re seeing a scuffle unfold on the dance floor! There’s gold-tinted sand swirling through the water! Hold up one second, we’re getting the 411…apparently a Fangtooth Fish attempted to dance with a Vampire Squid, who turned out to be the date of a very muscular Frilled Shark. The sand just cleared, and neither Fish nor Shark is anywhere to be seen. Security here is no joke!

Naturally, the Powers are here in full force. They’re flexing their powerful…do dragons have muscles? They have to, right? They’re looking fabulous in formalwear specially designed by none other than the untouchable CERES AND COMPANY (we’ll hold for applause). And these drama-prone Kyngdomites even seem to be getting along, at least for now.

We’d be remiss not to mention the cornerstone of the décor: a giant ice sculpture in the middle of the dance floor, surrounded by tantalizing desserts (salt-water granitas, anyone?). The sculpture is carved into the shape of a massive and very realistic rodeo scene, but instead of a cowgirl, the artist depicted a breathtakingly accurate version of our very own Finny—the heir apparent to the Guardian of Fin. The little dolphin is portrayed so accurately that she looks practically real. In fact, if you glance at the sculpture at just the right moment, you can almost see her eyes move. Magical! At the base of the ice sculpture is a keypad that requires a code, but it’s unclear what it’s meant for. Does anyone have any information? Come find us and spill the deets—we’re all tentacles.

The dancing is being put on hold for a moment, because it’s time for one of the much-anticipated activities: some of the lucky guests are about to try their fins at roping sea cows. The massive creatures are being released from a series of gilded pens, while guests shriek and attempt to catch them with lassos made from kelp. This activity certainly fits the theme, but it’s looking like no one can manage to catch a sea cow. In fact, the cows appear to be taunting the guests. We can’t believe it—they’re lining up and dancing a can-can! Hold on, now they’re swimming over the heads of the guests and disappearing into the deep blue of the ocean. The organizers look irate.

Having just slipped over to try a bit of the punch, your faithful correspondents are happy to report that the punch is especially tasty this year. Jeweled Rockskipper!

There’s something a bit different about it…a certain fizz…a tang on the back of the tongue. Perhaps the celebrity chef is trying out a new seaweed-infused simple syrup? In the interest of full gossipy disclosure, we’ve been hearing rumors that the punch is spiked—but we’d have to try another cup in order to report back for sure.

Ooh, Imagine Sea Dragons is about to take the stage: their hair is gelled, their buttons are shelled, and they look ready to rock. Hope they play their hit single, Radioactive (Materials are Leaking Into the Ocean—Thanks a Lot, Humans). Looks like it’s time for these anemones to get their groove on—come find us at the dance floor and tells us what’s really going on at this party. The wilder the rumor, the more we want to hear it! Actiniaria and Hexacorallia out.

I slowly drag myself onto the raft, black teardrops dripping from my scales. Water. How I hate it sometimes. If only there was a bank of cool, dark earth somewhere. I'd dig a hole and curl up and forget everything. Forget the ball, forget the Power, forget Catastrophe, forget B.I.G., and most of all, forget Claaws. I'll never forgive her for this. She had to attack Jaaws, even when death was staring her in the face. It's still too fresh in memory. That last pain-torn roar, that all too familiar searing agony in my heart, as if something's being ripped from my soul, and that hollow clunk of Claaws last form. My claws just barely touched the smooth black surface as it spiraled down, my heart sinking with it. Time visibly slowed down, and I could see it dissapear into the gloomy crevasse. A fitting place

Everyone's numb with shock right now. Most are still staring at the water where Claaws vanished. Like that'll bring her back. But really, I'm just as devastated. The Powers are a protective family, and the loss of Claaws is a blow we won't recover from. Fog is rolling in now, thick sheets of it. Soon the raft is covered with damp billowing clouds. The chill breaks everyone's stupor, bringing them back to the present. Yet there's nothing to do but sit in cold silence.

Until someone shouts outs in alarm and a dark shape looms ahead. The huge battleship breaks out of the fog, slamming with a crunch into us. The water's filled with yelping animals, splinters of smashed wood, and nets. I prepare to dive under the boat, but I can hear Cealani squawking and shreiking up ahead. Resigned, I morph into a badger and climb up the net. The deck is chaos. Cealani is in a fury and knocking B.I.G. agents left and right. Other animals are huddled in sodden groups while more scientists round them into cages. Then the Power Friend rushes forward, yeling at Cealani to go. He hesitates for a second, long enough for someone to grab the girl and drag her back. Something stiffens inside him, and he surges forward, soaring into the sky. I watch him dissapear into the clouds with a grim smile. He'll be back. But meanwhile, I'd better stay here. I won't take any chances with Claaws gone. Maybe Ayearth can find the trumpet when he comes.

The scientists gather around us, closing into a tight circle. I bare my teeth as they come. At least I won't have a cage.

My fingers shake in rage, no, my claws shake. I'm not stuck… then why am I still mad? Slowly, as the growl fades from my throat, I feel my body start to shrink, until I was normal, normal, me. For once I felt normal, because not only was I able to transform, but this time, I knew something new was with me, just what?

I realised my companions were all, ready for a fight, hackles raised, and even the humans, had a vicious look in there eyes. And on BIG's side, I saw nervous guards shuffling onto the deck, holding large tranquilisers in their arms, ready and loaded. Before I even had time to think about it, I had stepped in front of all of my kind and was shouting, “STOP!!! NOBODY has to be in CAGES and RIVALRY anymore! And absolutely NOBODY is going to DIE!!”  there was a slight change in the tension held my the battle ready people. In all reality, nobody would win, they may have the guns and probably number, but we had the magic and the hope, and yet, we were tired after days of being out on open waves for days without fresh food, of even water, and the guards they have chosen for this random expedition, were not the most battle ready as the ones that they had in the old location. “ Ronan, It was your idea, take the floor if you will.” before I stepped back I glanced up at my mother, then backed away.

Trill~

I watched in horror from behind a pile of tires as the deck burst into mayhem. I knew we didn't stand a chance. We were tired. Waterlogged. Starving. Thirsty. But we fought anyway. Cealani tried to help, but Icy shooed him. I knew exactly what she was thinking-I can't take two power deaths in one day.

Arra transformed and I watched as she was surrounded. Icy was dragged off by three scientists, and I couldn't see Ronan or Vivean. I made up my mind and ran at the scientists holding Arra. Quickly, they were...dispatched, and Arra growled, suprised I was there. I nodded.

Suddenly, I felt hands grab my shirt as I was pulled back. "Save...Icy!!!!" I cried to her as I disappeared into a room.

No! Not her! I think as the crazy unravels around me. That's when I realize, I haven't seen Paige since, I don't know wen! I'll make it my job to find the new location!, but first, all the wear dawes, and my identity. I quickly transform back into a cat, and catapult myself onto his face, claw his cheeks, then jump back down into the fray.

3,475 3,476, 3,487...

"Aaaargh!!"

I buried my head in my feathers,  shaking uncontrollably.

What had they done with caelani? Did he get caught?

What would happen to us?

 What about the others?

I felt tears prick at the back of my eyes, begging to be released.

Icicalwhisper who was in the cage next too mine cooed softly.  I looked up at him, carefully concealing all the signs that I'd been crying.

"Its OK windswift,  at least they give us food.  Right?"

He pointed down at the small pile of "mush" that served as our dinner.

He sighed.  "Yeah its pretty despicable actually."

He settled his head across his paws and yawned.

I glanced up at the ceiling where loud thumps and clanks echoed down into the somewhat soundproof room.

I closed my eyes and kept the thoughts at bay, drifting in and out of a fitful slumber.

An hour or so later I felt a freezing dampness dance across my talons.  I immediately opened my eyes and gawked down at what appeared to be a small ocean of mist billowing at my talons.  Icicalwhisper and sunstroke were already awake, pinned to the back of their cages.

"Hello Dearies, it seems you've noticed a friend of mine."

The mist rolled over itself falling like a shawl across the creature's shoulders. She laughed.  A hollow menacing sound.

"Let's keep this simple, I'm helping you escape.   In return you'll serve me for the rest of your miserable little lives."

I felt a a shiver run through my spine.

"NO!" I screeched.

"Well then,"

Her figure rose from the mist.  I wanted to scream, to fly away anything.

"I'll just have to take it by force won't I?"

Everything went black.

I fought. And fought. Fought for me, fought for the animals, fought for thw old disire to kill all humans, but most importantly for Claaws. Someone here had killed her. Or, supplied the killer with the killing wepon. They must have found it. I had heard rumers that it was burried in the desert somewhere.

I lunged for a BIG guard tring to hual Icy away. Icy looked at the dead remains as i bit him in half (dont worry it wasnt ur dad) then shood me away with a half broken expretion. I didnt move, instead growling. "Go!" she yelled whiping away tears.

And I saw it there. This human cared for Claaws too. I let out an exasperated sigh. Then flew into the clouds.

I waited untill Icy vanished below decks, then turned into a crow and swooped in lower.

The headmaster of BIG was walking with a pleased expretion next to a small boy that looked exceptionally like Catastrophe. Caelani had seen Claaws with him often, so he must be important.

He dove down and landed directly on the shoulders of the witch. She toppled face first to the ground, hissing slightly. Caelani felt his talons ripp through her many furs. He ooened his beak to stab her, when the boy shouted, "no stop! We need her!'

Caelani loosened his grip and looked at the boy. This was long enough for the headmaster to grab a dagger from her boot and stab Caealani in the talon. He screeched, there was Brazen goo on it. Like all of theur sowards now adays. The knife impeled to the other side. In quick thinking Caelani turned into a gryphon as he rose for air, and rentched the dagger from his arm. "Your going to pay, witch."

The boy looked hastily at the woman, grabbed the but of the knife, and hit her across the head.

Caealni smiled. Now where would Eico be hiding?

I don't think Cornelia would actually do that...she's not that evil...more of a mislead scientist...like all of B.I.G.

My & Anwen's Father (second in command to Proffessor Cornelia Hornshaw!) is also just mislead, not entirely evil...

Trill~

As I was dragged into the room, I noticed Windswift and some others in a cage. I reached out, but the guards smacked my hands. I pulled them back, shaking them fiercely to make the sting go away. I looked closer at Windswift. She didn't look so good, and I had a feeling she was having yet another mind battle. The guards dumped me in a cage and left the room. Immediently, I leaned out the cage to look at the animals. I glanced at the, but had to retract as the door banged open yet again. A limp, white figure was in the guards arms. I inhaled sharply.

I had found Meela.

Before this starts, I'm going to clear some things up about B.I.G. They're basically mislead scientists. They wouldn't hurt Humans--and certainally wouldn't force an entire species into extinction. They have no particular hate of Animals--well, untill Storm B.I.G. They, at first, just wanted to put tests on them.

Also, Windswift, not to be rude, but shouldn't Whist only be here when Sylvia is? Or is there another reason? Sideaffected Powers can't be activated unless their Power is alive, I think...?

~Icicle 'Icy' Soul

I stare out the window. There's even more fog over the ocean. "Why is it so foggy?" I wonder. Anwen shrugs. "I think that's actually Mist." "What even is the difference?" I mutter. "Dunno." My eyes widen. "That's allot of Mist." I step back from the window as white, whispy tendrils surround me.

Anwen darts forward and slams the window shut. The Mist just goes through the window like it's not even there. "What the Caelani*?" I murmur. *not as Caelani the Power, just Kyngdom swearing. "Oh my Kyngdom what even is happening?" Anwen asks. I look at her, clueless as we start to glow...red?

What?

I hear fighting out on the deck. Should I join?  But I don't even know who's side I'm on now.  If I was on FAFA's side,  I would be hurting my parents.  If I was on BIG's side, I would be on Aspen's side.  This is not good. Marrow, what can I do?

I say fight for FAFA

I guess Mom and Dad would say so too.

I sneak around the storage compartment.  But then I realize I forgot something.  I'll die from 5 hits.  If I get hit even once, I'm as good as dead.  But my speed counters that, so I just about just jump out of the storage compartment to find true chaos.  A girl runs past me, but I continue,  activating my power along the way.  I get my bones and dragonskullblasters out and join the chaos.  a BIG agent come towards me, but he's ash in a few seconds.  I'm avoiding most of the traquilizer darts- some of the agents are just bad shots.  I keep up firing the bones at the BIG guards.  I think by now, My kill streak is most likely 20 or more.  But then he comes along and decides to use his tranqu guns. Luckily, Aspen sucks with traquilizer darts.

End of Rp. Dang this is Bad.... Ack. I have to go now :( Bella face is iwi

(August 9, 2016 - 1:34 pm)

Salaki~

A giant wave engulfs me while Claaws falls. I know it is Claaws because all animals know. I shudder in the wind-tossed sea, not because of the cold, or the realisation that the animals on the raft haven't seen me, but because part of me died with Claaws. Every animal is connected with the Powers. As I watch Claaws slowly sink out of sight, and my death slowly come up to meet me, I shake with rage. Rage that I never detsroyed B.I.G. Rage that I am going to DIE now, when I had never acclomplished what I have wished for. Slowly I sink beneath the surface of the ocean. I see another ship above me. With the sign of B.I.G. Humans are baording the makeshift raft. No, wait, the animals are boarding the B.I.G boat.

Slowly, slowly I feel myself drift off...... the cold..... I can barely feel it now..... the lights flicker..... maybe my death has already happened, I think. My eyelids slowly start to close...... and something yanks me out of the cold sea.

I gasp in the cold sea air, thankful to be alive. But I might not be for long. The storm's worsening, and this scaly raft-

Wait, a scaly raft? I slowly turn around to face a Sea Dragon's head. Oh no. I'm going to die now. But it just stares at me. With a melancholy gaze. I stare into it's eyes, as dark as the sea-no, darker. As dark as the night sky on a calm day in the ocean.

You have set out to destroy B. I. G, no?

I nod.

Its foundation is evil. But a few of the scientists are looking away from torturing and destroying. It may turn into a protector instead of a destroyer. However, I will help you in your endevor. You wish to find the Gaurdian of Fin. But a Gaurdian cannot Gaurd what it does not have. We Sea Serpaints are the True Gaurdians. The ones before the others.

The Serpaint looks angry. "But, I thought that the Gaurdian was chosen at the Ball-"

DO YOU THINK THAT WE DID NOT CARE WHEN AYEARTH FELL? THAT WE STOOD BY AS WHAT WE CREATED WAS DESTROYED? WE ARE THE TRUE GAURDIANS, HIS KIN. WHEN HE WAS NEW TO THE SEA, WE, YOUNGER THAN HIM, WERE CREATED TO BE HIS SCOUTS. HIS GAURDS. YOU THINK THAT ANY ANIMAL WHO CHANCES UPON YOUR 'PARTY' COULD BE A GAURDIAN?! EVEN WITHOUT THE GLASS ARMONICA THAT AYEARTH MADE WITH HIS OWN FINS?! THE CREATURES OF THE SEA DECIDE TO CHOOSE, WITHOUT US, WHO TO GAURD! BUT WE ARE THE TRUE GAURDIANS! AND SO THE OTHER CREATURES OF THE SEA HAVE DISRESPECTED US, TURNED AN ANCIENT RITUAL INTO A-A- A JOKE! WHO WERE THE ONES WHO DID NOTHING WHEN OIL SPILLED INTO THE OCEAN?! THEM! WHO WERE THE ONES TO CREATE A NEW WORLD, WHO CHOSE TO FORGET THE GLASS ARMONICA OF AYEARTH?! THEM! AND SO THAT IS WHY I HELP YOU, NOT FROM KINDNESS BUT IN THE HOPE THAT EVEN IF THE CREATURES OF THE SEA HAVE FORGOTTEN THEIR PLACE, I HOPE THAT THE CREATURES OF LAND STILL RESPECT THE PEACE THAT ONCE RIENED OVER KYNGONDOM!

I stare, frightened out of my mind, as the now wrathful Serpaint thrashes in the water, and the storm clouds that were clearing darken and thunder menacingly. I'm terrified, but I can't let the Serpaint rant about something. Stuttering, I say; "That-That's not true. They tried to clean up the oil! Th-They couldn't dwell on the past! W-We animals who live less than a hundred years forget! How can you expect us to mourn a loss that we never saw?" The Serpaint stops thrashing, but it starts to rain.

Yes..... yes, that is true..... but I still give you this..... to give to the Gaurdian of Fin. But tell the Gaurdian.... tell her..... to respect what once was. The Gaurdian has the power to shape what the world will become, but does not have the right to do at her wim.

I nod, and the Serpaint delecatly hands me a board of wood with a string of silver hovering over it, bowls made of crystal hang on the thread, virbrating songs that could be and that once were.

This Armonica is imbued with magic. The magic to summon Ayearth. Only the Gaurdian of Fin can play it and summon him. Now go, Salaki, and give it to the Gaurdian........

And then he is gone. I'm standing on a raft of wood and things pieced together, under a raining sky. The same raft that the animals were on. I look and see, almost at the horizon, a ship. With the enishals B.I.G. I take a piece of string and carefully tie the Glass Armonica to my back. It's hard to tie with paws, but I manage it. Then I take a piece of wood, and paddle as fast as I can towards the ship.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And maybe this Post will be ignored like the others..... maybe people will actually ppay attention to it. Maybe someone will say that no, the Gaurdian of Fin DOES have the Glass Armonica. Maybe this, maybe that.
I duck, as an unwieldy Guard swings an empty dart gun at my head. Like anyone was going to listen to me. Im such a fool. I dart my heal, with the blunt heal, from the ball, at a nearby guard's crotch, and he doubles over. I stifle a laf as he tries another dim witted guard, who ando falls on top of the one that I liked. I was having way too much fun. Then an idea came to me. It was dangerous, and really stupid, but, in this certain occasion, why not? I crouched behind three barrels, probably holding toxic goo, then started thinking about when I was just in between, both places of transformation, how I was for the last couple months.
15 seconds later, I emerged, able to see, like when I was a wolf, and move, flexibly, in my form of origin. This was normal. Morso normal than ever before. And I was okay with that. My eyes swiveled, across the deck full of vanishing participants of the small two sided battle. They landed on one person, who was just standing there, full of pleasure as her workers slowly fell, as if there was no battle to begin with. I felt myself start drifting across the deck, and as if, it were magic, nothing came at me. Not a single derpy dard, not a single dart to dodge. Then slowly, I came up to Hornshaw. Acting like she was the queen of her own world. The world that was always searching for the next battle to fight, and lose. But nobody would know about all that searching from the outside. Only someone close to her would know that. So soo me.
I came to a stop, and she turned her head in my direction. “Oh Vivian! I'm so glad you can join me! Isen this just wonder!?” Her sentence had an abrupt stop, as I swung a clawed fist in her nose. The compcet came with a satisfying “CruncH!” and her nose started bleeding rapidly. Rage flooded her normally placid cold eyes, lighting a fire in their pupils. Without a second thought, or a word, I grabbed her right hand, and barged my shoulder into her stomach. She flew backwards immediately, from the impact. Landing, on the edge of the small barrier between the water and the almost dry deck, but I held on to her hand, despite the fact that If I let go, she would probably plummet to her death, in the same thing that we had lived of for the past week. But that would just be to easy. Someone so reached, deserves to suffer, long enough for her ether to go crazy, or just die a slow painful death. Then came the panic. It flooded her body, in a desperate march, to infiltrate at least someone's mind on this floating battlefield.  “What are you doing? You won't actually want to do this! Think of it sensibly! Would you really kill your own mother?” I shuddered at the thought but she did have a point. “This isn't right!” I say to myself. “Yes! Yes now put mommy back on the safe deck like a good girl!” she grinned a terrifying grin, that honestly made me want to barf. Ignoring her request, I placed her one hand on the edge on the ship, just to be fair, then I walked away.
My eyes swiveled to the closest batch of guards, who either haven't noticed the absence of their boss, or really didn't care. Moonshadow had just finished the last of three guards, and he shouted over to me, “Vivean? Is there something that you aren't telling us?” I shook my head and simply replied, “Let's just say, Icy, isn't the only one here who has important B.I.G heritage.”
