SailHaven

(I will do an explaination, then people can add to the story.)

SailHaven is my home city. It is a floating city, with a network of tunnels, allowing crime syndicates to evolve. The scientists there mostly develop implants, like blades in arms, or wearable tech, like monicles with lenses for seeing in the dark and stuff like that. I got exiled after creating blades that could be installed in arms, but they worked like a cat's claws, and could be hidden completely. After several assassinations, they had to punish me for making them.

Okay Elliot. Um, just so you know, my character is deathly afraid of labs. I really don't know what to do next so, um, your turn I guess.

I sip a cup of tea as I work on the hardrive. The flavoring is too slight....oh! Stupid fuse, getting tangled again. I mutter more curses under my breath. And the Geiger Counter says that the radiation levels are acting up...again...

Oh well.  At least the Hardrive is completed.

I look out my window to see....that Owl Girl. We had her at B.I.G, didn't we? Meh. I go back to my work as usual.

NO good results on this one. I sigh, reaching in my pocket for a picture of my daughters & wife to comfort me, but...It's gone. Could I have dropped it when I fled from....what was his name? Ah yes, here it is in the SailHaven King's database-a young man named Elliot.

I sigh in impatience. How do I get that picture back?

I
run, occasionally glancing behind me to see if Elliot or that girl Rae are
following.

 After
running for a while, I stop, and duck into the awning of a store. I needed to
think. Obviously I couldn't just walk back to the college and apologize. I
needed to know more about why they wanted me there, and if it was safe.

 But
if I didn't go there, where would I go? The police were looking for me, and I couldn't
go back to the college until I knew more.

 It
started to rain, the cold sheets pounding on the rooftops. When it rained in
SailHaven it rained hard. Looked like I was going to have to stay here
till it let up.

 All
of a sudden my situation seemed hopeless. I knew I should keep on trying and
not think about how futile it was, but right then I didn't care. I had always
had a plan B, but now all of my assets were gone. I couldn't even go down to
Kyngdom because automatons weren't allowed there either. And I could not  join another street gang. They would know who I was.

With a start I realized that I had water on my face. I tasted it and realized it was salty. I was crying for the first time since I pledged I wouldn't. With that realization I cried even harder.

I pull a map (not the one that is special, but an ordiary one,) out of my pocket and zoom in on SailHaven. I look at the small dot that's me. It's standing on the corner of two streets. I look around on the map. I see many other people's dots, but I don't see any within my sight. I walk forward to the next street crossing. I look at the map. I see one dot. I sneak toward it, trying as hard as I can not to sneeze. (I didn't, but there was a funny time that I sneezed during something very solmn. I'll tell you about that later.) I run up to the shape and grab it's arm. It's Sprocket! "I'm sorry to have to talk to you like this," I say. "But I really need to, and you were running away from me." "I'm sorry," she hissed, "And do you know where Elliot is?" "No, but I do know that B.I.G. from down in Kyngdom is coming up to SailHaven, agent by agent. I need your help to keep them down!" Her face whitened. "Really?" she whispered. "I didn't know that they could come up." "They're not supposed to." I say. "But they do! Can you help me?"

Sprocket, I'm going to let you do this part. I don't want to make the descion for you.

I look at Rae. She looked like she had seen trouble and hardship. I think I could trust her.

"Yes I can help you," I say. I wonder if she can see that I was crying. If so that would be so embarrassing. "I am so glad you can," she sighs, brushing her hair out of her face. "After you ran off I didn't know if I could find you."

I scowl. "Where is that sneak Elliot? He took me to the college and then left. I saw him when I left, but he didn't try to chase me."

She shrugged. "I don't know where he is, but we need to go now."

I led Sprocket into an alley three streets away from where we were standing. "So," I said. "You can help me track down B.I.G. agents and send them back down to Kyngdom?" "Yes," she said. "I can help you. I ran away from the gang I joined because they were beginning to be hunted down by Elliot and other such people. Also, I figured that you might be able to help me, or vice versa." "Good. I know some people down in Kyngdom that we can send (By that I mean drop) the agents we capture down to. Where do you think we should have our meeting place?" She asked me why we needed a meeting place. "Because," I told her, "if we are seen together too often then we might get asked questions, by B.I.G. sympathizers. The outcome of that situation would be very, very, very bad. "

You can decide on a place for headquarters, because you know the city a lot better than me.Smile

I stare at Rae. Obviously she knows what she is doing. Should I tell her my secret? She probably already knows.

"Umm.. just so you know I kinda have an illegal automaton dog and the police are after me and him."

She nods. "Elliot told me about the dog. We are going to have to find a safe place for him. Now what will we do about a headquarters?"

I pause and think. " I think I know a place. Come on."

I lead her through the winding mazes of streets that I knew so well. We finally stopped at an old bookstore with boarded windows. I beckoned for her to follow me through the slats of the boards and into the bookshop.

After giving me a questionable look she followed.

We entered the shop and Rae immediately sneezed. I glanced back. "You OK?" I question. She nods.

I lead her to the back of the shop and stop at an old bookshelf.

"Help me move this," I say, and together we move the bookshelf. Behind it a tunnel led down into the ground.

"What is this place?" Rae asked as we walked down the crumbly steps.

"These are tunnels that crisscross all over the city. The creators of SailHaven originally made these back when SailHaven was a regular on the ground city. They experimented down her and spyed in the government's secret buisness. Finally they decided to share the idea of a floating city to the public, and within a few years SailHaven was airborn."

I led her down into a vast network of tunnels and caves made out of old machine parts and scrap metal. Finally we reached a huge cavern that shone with bits of shiny metal and natural crystals.

"This," I said," will be HQ."

"Wow," is the first thing that I say when I walk in. "This will be perfect!" Sprocket nods smugly and says, "Yup."

"How did you find this place?" I ask Sprocket. She said, "I've been living in this place since I was born. I have lived alone for about twelve years. Trust me, I know every in and out of SailHaven." "I nodded. "You sure do! Did this place used to be a bookshop? What kind of books did they sell? And why in the world did they have a sneaky passageway down to . . . this?" I said, gesturing around at the sparklieness. Sprocket laughed. "Last question first. They weren't actually book sellers, they were pirates. This is where they hid they're stolen goods." "Wow." was the only thing that I had to say. "Wow." She continued, "They didn't just stay in SailHaven, but they stole things from down in Kyngdom, too. They were incredibly rich, as you can see." "I see, " I said.

Sorry that last one was so short. I would've written more on this one, too. Gotta go!

~THE I SNEEZED STORY~

I was at a very fancy dinner with my master for an award she was reciving. When the time came for the man to present her the award, all was deathly quiet. As she was putting her hands out to take the scroll, I sneezed so loud that I fell off of my stool. I was so embarrased, and I just waved my and at her and said, "Go on, go on." It was really funny and embarrasing.
