Sharing Photography

Okay, so I ran across the Art Posting thread, which made me really excited. I love art, learning techniques, and just enjoying other people's masterpieces. Then I thought, what else do I really love doing besides reading, art, and video games? Photography!

And that is why this thread now exists. I love photography almost more than art. and the Art Sharing thread inspired this, so thank you. I want this thread to be a place where people can share their photographs they have taken. A place to share the stories behind the pictures. A place, really, where your photography can be enjoyed by others, and where story inspirations can sprout.

So what do you say? Wish to join in the fun of photography? Even if you don't take pictures, you are more than welcome to come join in with comments and stories. I'll share some of my own photos once this thread is up.

@Lap R. Again, thank you for creating the Art Posting thread. I hope it is fine with you to have this thread, being that it was sort of your idea, but with art.

Ok, so this is one of the pictures I've taken that I'm really proud of. It's the sunrise (I got up at like 5 in the morning!) at the Sea of Galilee in Israel/Palestine.

It was such a magical experience. Standing there, on the balcony, squinting at the horizon, wondering if that goldish haze could really be the sun, and being a little disappointed at that - until finally, a gleaming, glowing finger of gold appeared, and I knew that was definitely the sun and was not disappointed. It created a lighted reflection on the water, like a golden path. I waited until the kayaker you see was right on the path and snapped the picture. It was really truly beautiful.

Your photos are stunning, Kema! Photography, like art, is something I can never say no to. They are always so beautiful. This is one of the first photographs I ever took. The resolution might not be too good because it had to resize the photo to upload it here. Our family is always hiking around places, so I have grown to love nature.

One of my favorite things about this shot is the clarity of the little dew drops on the edge of the fungus. It is as if inside each drop is a whole separate world of its own. A sparkling world, with crystal trees, each leaf made of minuscule crystal dewdrops. Each branch slender crystals, turning and twisting to create the beautiful frame of a tree. That is what I imagine, looking at a single one of those dewdrops.

Sorry if it seems like I'm taking all the space, but I'm really excited about this thread! This was another picture I took while in the area - it's inside a cove of the Mediterranean Sea, and I think the light looks really cool from the inside.

Here are another one of my favorite photos I took, just last year at Neah Bay, Washington. Beautiful forest, beyond what is imaginable. There were giant trees with roots that spiraled out of the ground, some creating arches that you could walk under freely. The leaves held little raindrops, making them look like tiny fairies in the photographs. The soil was sodden with rain, creating a dark but pleasing atmosphere. I love this shot because it holds the true beauty of the forest in a single pathway. This is by far my all-time favorite photo that I have taken.

Note: Again, it resized my photo, so I don't know how the resolution will turn out.

That's really cool! The leaves are so.. green! It looks very quiet and peaceful there.

Thank you, Kema! The forest was really peaceful, if all my siblings were silent, you could hear amazing birds, and little drops of rain slipping down from the branches. And it was crazy how green everything was.

Question for the Admins:

Is there a rule to what kind of pictures we can have for this thread? I understand they have to be your own photographs, and not copied. I also know they can't be inappropriate in any way. But are pictures of people allowed? Or just landscape, animals, nature, and things like that? Thank you!

Pictures of people are not allowed. And the photo has to be your own. We're not allowed to post photos taken from other Internet sites.

@Swummer, I love. Just Love. That picture! It has so many leading lines and patterns. And I love how the clouds reflect off of the cars so beautifully. Poland has always been on of the places I wish to visit.

Here's a picture I took! It has my fingers in it, if the Admins don't mind.

Also, my hand looks darker in the picture, but just BTW, I'm lighter in real life. I'm still pretty relatively dark for an Asian, though.

I know a girl from Mongolia and she's so light! She's lighter than most of my white friends. XD Ir's creepy.

I really love how the camera captured the sunlight through the heart! This is probably one of the best photos I've ever taken, in fact!

@Mei-xue, I love that photo so much! I couldn't agree more, the way the sun catches the heart is just wonderful. It looks like a parallel world of sorts, looking into it. And your aperture is really nice, leaving the background somewhat blurry, and bringing the focus to the heart.
