Reunion Thread

Reunion Thread

Hey, uh, the reunion is in 2 days, and in the past we've always had a main thread for one? I'm a little early but I just think when old CBers begin to arrive, they ought to have somewhere to go… So, um, hi! I hope it's okay I'm making this thread if I'm a current CBer, I don't know if it's usually the old CBers that do it…

Anyways, hello, everyone! For anyone who doesn't know, every February 14th we have a reunion where old CBers pop in to say hi. It's really cool to see everyone!

For anyone who doesn't know me, I'm Periwinkle, but most people just call me Peri. I'm a current CBer, here since January 2021. I use she/her pronouns, and you'll usually catch me working on my ski-lodge, giving advice on the Confessions thread, writing about my AEs, and occasionally sharing my poetry.

And for anyone looking for old reunion threads, here's a few. Thank you to Kitten for providing all these links last year so I only had to dig up the 2022 reunion, saved me a lot of time XD

That's about it! Have fun, can't wait to meet everyone <3

Thank you for starting this thread, Peri! I hope the Valentine's week reunion tradition continues for many, many years!

Just read through all of the pages on this thread and it made me very unnecessarily emotional which is not going to help me do my precalculus homework but that's fine :')

Hello! If we haven't met, I'm Lupine, she/her, 15. I'm an active CBer and I've been here since June of 2020. It was a real refuge for me during quarantine, which was  the perfect time to discover a hidden website where I could pass the hours surrounded by other art-and-writing nerds who made me feel less lonely.

Lumi, Azalea, Bakerloo, Viola?, Starseeker, and Morning--you're the ones I remember the most on this thread so I wanted to say hi!!

Lumi, I remember thinking that you are such a kind, compassionate person who always made others feel better and expressed your thoughts in a very eloquent way.

Azalea, I thought you were so cool when I first joined (you're slightly older than me, your art was so good, and I felt like we had a lot in common lol) so it's great to see your name again!

Bakerloo, all of your posts were so thoughtful, they were always enjoyable to read.

Starseeker, I remember looking up to you a lot --you were so talented at art, but besides that, you always gave good advice & thoughtful comments.

Viola? I know this gets super repetitive, but your art was (and still is I'm sure) INCREDIBLE! But besides that, you always expressed yourself in a very poetic way and seemed so kind! It's cool that you're majoring in English; that's what I want to do when I get to college.

Morning, I remember seeing you around on BaB and always enjoying your book recommendations!

It's great to see you all again :') I feel very old now...

Lupine, hi!! I remember you as having amazing book recommendations too, actually. I guess we influenced each other's bookshelves. It's so good to see you! Also, I don't know if I ever said this when we were both active, but I love your name.

Lupiiiine! Thank you for the compliments; it means a lot that all my time spent on here led up to some kind of a positive impact. I'm honestly anything but cool irl though haha, so that surprised me. I remember thinking we have a lot in common as well! You're so kind, and a great artist as well (I look through the art posting thread every once in a while lol)

Also, I second everything said about other CBers here! :)

Whoops, I'm totally late to this but I was reminded about the Valentine's Reunion and wanted to check in! I'm GreenMango (I normally just go by Mango), and I was active around 2016/2017 I think -- I'm not sure the exact timeframe.

I really appreciate the CB for the friendships it led me towards; it's so weird to look back and consider how a simple decision to check out a writing website at age 13 turned into some of the most wonderful connections that will soon accompany me all the way into my 20s!

It's also amazing to see how the website has evolved. I see some other people have already discussed the prevaling nature of CB culture -- it's so interesting to consider how such small online communities build specific ways of interacting with each other that last for so long! We're all just middle school nerds turned autoethnographers, aren't we?

I see the same qualities that drew my 13 year old self to the CB reflected in the website today, and that makes me immeasurably happy. I hope everyone active now and in the future is able to gain the same meaningfulness that I found from this site! It safely connected me to other people at a time when I was first starting to explore the internet and nourished my introspection and curiousity about other people's lives in a pretty positive way.

I think I checked in either last year or the year before, so I'll make my update "quick". I'm a sophomore in college, studying geology with a geography minor. I work in a paleomagnetism lab now, running experiments on rock samples dated from the KPg extinction (the event that killed the dinosaurs!). I love my job so much and am super passionate about my chosen field of study. I've also added a Portuguese language minor and recently submitted my application for a summer study abroad in Brazil! (Speaking of summer plans, I'm terribly excited for mine! I'm planning a 2 week trip to Iceland, followed by some time spent with my aunt in Europe and a meetup with a penpal, and then Brazil if I get into the study abroad scholarship!)

Anyway, I've also picked up crocheting over the past year and I absolutely adore it so of course I had to mention it! I used to weave a lot as a kid, and it's comforting to get back into a similar hobby. I made a sage-colored mesh/flower vest a couple months ago and so far it's my magnum opus.

Happy late Valentine's day everyone!

Great to hear from you! Summer study abroad in Brazil sounds wonderful. - Admin

Hi GreenMango! I don't think we were ever on the CB at the same time, but I remember seeing you in some old threads -- it's nice to meet you! Your job sounds so awesome -- I've always found geology fascinating, although I doubt I'll make a career out of it. Studying abroad in Brazil sounds really fun too! And it's really cool that you're into crocheting -- that's something I've always wanted to try, but I've never really been able to get into. Maybe I will someday. Anyway, it's really nice to see you! :D

Hi all!  I totally forgot about Valentine's Day until today, when I checked CaC and was bowled over by 147 posts on the Reunion Thread.  It is so wonderful to see familiar names come back, both old CBers who I know from previous Reunion Threads and from my reading of old threads, and CBers who were on when I first joined.  I must say that the Chatterbox Valentine's Day Reunion tradition is one of my favorites.  It is absolutely wonderful to catch up with everyone.

I am Peregrine, and I am among many other things a CB ghoster and much delayed poster (much to my regret and embarassment).  I think I was most active in the year I first joined (the past 3 years blur together in my memory) and my third CBversary is coming up March 16!  I play the violin, I read, I knit, I journal and correspond.  I don't write stories as much as I use to, and I am slowly drifting away from the CB, though I am not ready to leave yet.  I sometimes wonder if I ever will be.  Regardless the Chatterbox is a special place to me and I think it always will be.  I hope it will be here for many, many, many more generations.

Happy 50th to Cricket!  I hope to see you all next year!

Peregrine, hi!! Ghoster twins, unfortunately. I can't believe it's been three years, but I think my third CBversery just rolled around too. It's lovely to see you! I think I've said this before, but the first novel I ever finished was inspired by a story picturing I did of you, so you're kind of unforgettable for me, and NerdFace and I still have the printed version of the map you drew for our ski lodge (which was stunning, by the way). I hope you're doing well!
