Reunion Thread

Hey, uh, the reunion is in 2 days, and in the past we've always had a main thread for one? I'm a little early but I just think when old CBers begin to arrive, they ought to have somewhere to go… So, um, hi! I hope it's okay I'm making this thread if I'm a current CBer, I don't know if it's usually the old CBers that do it…

Anyways, hello, everyone! For anyone who doesn't know, every February 14th we have a reunion where old CBers pop in to say hi. It's really cool to see everyone!

For anyone who doesn't know me, I'm Periwinkle, but most people just call me Peri. I'm a current CBer, here since January 2021. I use she/her pronouns, and you'll usually catch me working on my ski-lodge, giving advice on the Confessions thread, writing about my AEs, and occasionally sharing my poetry.

And for anyone looking for old reunion threads, here's a few. Thank you to Kitten for providing all these links last year so I only had to dig up the 2022 reunion, saved me a lot of time XD

That's about it! Have fun, can't wait to meet everyone <3

Thank you for starting this thread, Peri! I hope the Valentine's week reunion tradition continues for many, many years!

Hey Ruby! You wouldn't know me, but I wanted to say hi because I adore ski lodges and especially yours- I've written a lot of them and read ten times more. I kind of owe my love of mysteries to you and I wanted to say that I'm grateful for your creativity :)

I also want to be in the editing / publishing industry! Your work sounds incredibly cool. It is so amazing to be in the CB where everyone seems to appreciate writing and books in all of their aspects.

Anyways, just wanted to let you know that your work is still very appreciated. <3

Hi Luna, nice to meet you! Thanks for the nice words. Mysteries are a ton of fun, so I'm glad you enjoy writing them.

There is always a great need for editors and other passionate book lovers in publishing. Keep working at it, and I'm sure you'll make it there some day! :D

Hi everyone! I"m Poinsettia, she/her. I joined in September and was feeling quite old and experienced, having been here for half a year, but now I feel so new :/ I like horses, writing (of course) reading (also of course) nature, and just having fun. It's so nice to have all you older CBers back again!! I've seen some of your old posts because I like to dig around in the back pages of the CB, and all in all it's just really cool. It feels like a big family reunion, meeting a lot of older cousins or something. I hope you all stick around here a few more days! :)

Since this is the big every-four-years reuinion, maybe we should do something special?? Maybe we could host a live chat, if that would be possible?

Hello everyone! I'm Viola?, she/her pronouns, and I was active here from about 2017-2020 if I'm not mistaken, and on Kyngdom for a few years before that. It seems like an awfully long time now, and a long time ago, but I still miss my AEs--I don't use them so much anymore.

I'm also in college and studying English literature now! If you knew me, you might've expected visual arts (I think picturings are what I'm best known for around here), and indeed I might apply for a minor in that. My favorite class is the one on Shakespeare, we just finished reading Twelfth Night. I'm also building a labyrinth in the woods and calling it land art.
How are you all? I know most of your names, do you know mine?

Hi! I"m a current CBer. I've seen some of your picturings. They're really pretty... :)

Viola?!!! Hi! I'm not sure if you remember me entirely but I remember you. I was absolutly honored to get a picturing from you and I still keep it as my desktop screensaver. It's a nice way for me to just remember everything that's still on here.

I'm only in high school but I also took a class where we read Twelfth Night! It was an english/acting class and we definitely did not go as in depth as a college class would but the timing is still funny.

How are you doing?

Oh yes, I remember! The whole scene with the full moon, and the cloaked figure below walking away from the neon city into the dim wild? It's been a while, but I recall being proud of that.

That's quite a coincidence! Did you like it? I confess my favorite part was always the flowery speeches made around the main love triangle, but discussing the religious and class-related politics of the subplot with Olivia's household made me appreciate that aspect much more. I feel like I understand the thematic unity a lot better now.
I'm doing all right! I'm very busy; I've given myself a lot to keep me occupied. I have a habit of that. How are you?

I loved it! The subplot of Olivia's household was my favorite part and how they ebbed and flowed with each other was amazing! I wrote a whole essay on it. I actually used Viola's famous monologue to audition for a show. I didn't get it but it was still really cool. Shakespeare is fun to perform.

I also have a habit of keeping myself rather occupied. I am in the middle of two different shows, one of which is going up next week so stress is in the air. Life is moving right along for me.

Hey Viola?! I definitely remember your name. I'm well! How are you? I would have indeed assumed you'd major in art, since your art was (and is) always amazing, but English is great too! I'm an English major as well. I haven't gotten to take a Shakespeare class yet, but I know I will at some point.

Hello again! I'm fine, more or less the usual. Thank you!

What within the wide field have you been pursuing, then? And are you looking forward to Shakespeare? I've always found his works great fun, but I know it can be difficult to figure out what on earth he's saying and all.

I'm glad to hear it!

I plan to become an editor once I get my degree! Ideally I'd like to work mostly with books, so I hope to work at a publishing company. Right now I'm taking a Literature by Women class, which has been immensely interesting. I am looking forward to Shakespeare, but I'm also a bit daunted, as I've never actually read any of his works and he is quite famous. I'm curious, why do you consider your class on Shakespeare to be your favorite?

Wow, it's crazy that you're in college now! It's so fitting that you were reading Twelfth Night- isn't there a character named Viola in that play?

I do remember you from picturings and visual art, but it doesn't surprise me that you're a literature nerd too. (I feel like that's everyone on the CB to some extent, lol.) Do you know yet what you're planing to do with English literature?

Yes, Viola is the main character and my namesake!

I don't know exactly what period or form I'd like best to devote myself to yet, but the rather old and the extremely new are both interesting to me. Mostly I'm trying to develop my analytical skills. I don't think I'm very good at it yet, but I really want to be. It's important to me that I be able to make something substantial of what I encounter, you know?

Viola?! Hello! I miss your AEs as well; Nymph and Sea Glass were really something. You're an icon, honestly, and I'm glad your college is going well!

Also... A labyrinth? In the woods? Tell me more, please?
