Reunion Thread

Hey, uh, the reunion is in 2 days, and in the past we've always had a main thread for one? I'm a little early but I just think when old CBers begin to arrive, they ought to have somewhere to go… So, um, hi! I hope it's okay I'm making this thread if I'm a current CBer, I don't know if it's usually the old CBers that do it…

Anyways, hello, everyone! For anyone who doesn't know, every February 14th we have a reunion where old CBers pop in to say hi. It's really cool to see everyone!

For anyone who doesn't know me, I'm Periwinkle, but most people just call me Peri. I'm a current CBer, here since January 2021. I use she/her pronouns, and you'll usually catch me working on my ski-lodge, giving advice on the Confessions thread, writing about my AEs, and occasionally sharing my poetry.

And for anyone looking for old reunion threads, here's a few. Thank you to Kitten for providing all these links last year so I only had to dig up the 2022 reunion, saved me a lot of time XD

Thank you for starting this thread, Peri! I hope the Valentine's week reunion tradition continues for many, many years!

Aah, thank you for saying so!

Well you see I got interested in labyrinths pretty recently--I suppose it must've started when I found that the little gravel-and-rock labyrinth near my house had been tampered with; it's supposed to be one deceptively long but continuous path, and someone had altered it so that part of it was blocked off. I took it upon myself to figure out what was wrong and how to put it back. So I learned the layout of that labyrinth, and broke down the pattern into a formula which I memorized and played with, and then I learned that there were other patterns. I'm sort of collecting them now. And I decided I wanted to make my own! So I went to my friend who knows the woods here better than I do and we hiked around and picked a spot and I got to work soon after, laying out the design with sticks and slowly collecting and arranging stones to make it more clear and permanent. It goes like this:

Gosh, I wish I lived in a place where there just...are labyrinths! I feel like you must exist in some whimsical fantasy version of the world. Even though I know you're just another person, you seem like you belong there. Like, I would never think to just take it upon myself to create something that big and public?? That's just so awesome. Good luck (with that & everything else)!

Hi, I'm Rainbow, a current CBer! I use she/they pronouns. I've read ALL of Random thoughts/things, so the ones who wrote on that, I kinda know you-ish? I LOVEEE reading and rerererereading (actually, the book I'm reading now is the 6th time I'm reading it... and I got it 2 or three years ago, haha), especially Wings Of Fire and the Riordanverse. I also love drawing, mainly people. though I probably should maybe have lessons for once because proportions are a thing? Also shading? I do dance, too, and piano. I also am in two musicals rn (it's tech week for one! ack!), You're A Good Man Charlie Brown, and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Gosh, why do both of those titles have to be so long?????

Sorry. I'm rambling. Anyways, um. Y'all seem very cool, so that probably means y'all have good book recs for me (middle grade, preferably fantasy, but mostly any type of fiction is good)? :)

Also any tips for actually making the AEs I have just floating around in my brain waiting to be introduced (Sunnie, Rain, Star, Thunder, Cloud, Iridescent, Skye, and Indigo...) would be greatly appreciated. Also if ya know how to tell someone you have a crush on her, that'd be great if you could tell me, 'cause I suck at that...

Wow, that was waaayyyy to ramble-y. Sorry 'bout that. Anyways, nice to "meet" everybuggy! Bye! Gotta go do some [stupid] math homework!

Okay, sorry, just um my Captcha, Inkling, says "diegy" so... singular dice, gy; or diego; or um Inkling wants harm on GY? NO INKLING WE DON'T SAY THAT OR THINK THAT BAD INKY

Hello Ruby! When I first saw your comment pop up, I thought "huh, I wonder why the admins changed my last name to M?" But after reading , I realized it wasn't me! It's funny you and i kinda have the same name!

i think your job is really cool! I would love to translate manga. I'm also a big fan of Japanese media/manga!

Apparently you were on here a year after I was born. I'm currently twelve, although I'll be thirteen soon.

I agree with what you said about the internet! I'm very grateful for this community, in reality..I don't have many friends.

Affter reading and rereading your comment, I realized you said " the ski lodge games I started here for entirely stupid reasons are still being played"

Were you the one who created the ski lodges?! If so, I very grateful you did. Without them I wouldn't be as happy as I am today. One question. Why did you name it a Ski Lodge?!

- The (Totally not) sleepy Reuby Moonnight.

I think the first group murder mystery was set in a ski lodge with guests on a ski holiday, and the name just naturally came from that. I do remember the author putting the names of each participant on a separate slip of paper and putting them all in a sugar bowl, then drawing one out for each episode to determine who was to meet their end next. The last name remaining in the sugar bowl was the murderer. Recently I haven't seen mention of the sugar bowl (although other Admins may have).

Hi Reuby! A few years ago, I was also fascinated by the history of ski lodges, and I dug up a couple old threads with the very first ski lodges. I thought you might be interested to see them too :)

Here's the first ski lodge ever on the CB, at least as far as I could tell: http://www.cricketmagkids.com/chatterbox/puddingsplace/node/106893

And here's a post on the history of ski lodges, including the infamous sugar bowl: http://www.cricketmagkids.com/chatterbox/puddingsplace/node/136890

Thanks for finding these for us, Kitten!

Hello, Rueby! It's nice to meet you. I have to admit I was surprised when I saw your name too. The last name of your penname is similar to mine as well. What a funny coincidence.

As the admin said, the first ski lodge murder mysteries I wrote took place in a fictional ski lodge where the skiiers were trapped on a mountain after being snowed in. I'm afraid I don't remember what made me choose a ski lodge in particular. I was around your age at the time, so it's been too long. I think it just made for a nice, plausible way to have a locked door mystery that could be sustained for a long period of time. And something about a ski lodge sounds nice and murder-y. (I've never so much as been to a ski lodge in my life, so I have no idea what I'm talking about.) Very Agatha Christie-esque, no?

I do remember why I chose the sugar bowl, though! I'm 99% certain it's been thrown out by now, but it was a plastic sugar bowl from a toy teaset that I had when I was much younger. I had wanted to draw the names of the victims out of a hat to keep it random, but as there's a ski resort in California called the Sugar Bowl, I chose to use a sugar bowl instead to keep with the theme.

Howdy there!

I'm Moonlight, I use he/she/they pronouns, I have gone by many different names on here like Duck or Skip or Script and I joined somewhere around 2018/2019 and have been on and off here since. I am currently 16 and a junior in high school and now I'm thinking about college (AHHHH) which is kind of weird to me.

I was on Kyngdom towards the end of its lively stage with Moonlight and Ester as my two major charries that I had there. I was a part of the Forest RP which was really cool to see to the end and I loved ski lodges. I created a few but I could never finish them and I don't really remember them anymore (whoops).

But it's really cool to see everyone coming back here. I wish I had more time but unfortunately I am in two different shows, one of which is going up next week so I have absolutly no time to spare anymore. I still kind of write. Not as much as when I was on here but enough to keep me entertained. I'm really glad that this is all still here though. It's a really special place that I'm proud to be a part of.

I'll try to stick around here and there but in any case, happy valentines day yall!

Hi Moonlight!! Good luck with your shows! That sounds both fun and exhausting. Happy (late) Valentine's in return. I wasn't ever part of the Forest RP but I do remember seeing the thread float around near the end of my activity on her; in the spirit of things I might go read it. Anyway, here's to hoping you're doing well!

Hey y'all! It has been a very long time since I've submitted a post here. Since the last reunion thread, I think! The CB was very near and dear to me for a long time; I was active here 2015-2021ish, and my older sister was here even earlier than that, so I've had an awareness of the CB for a very long time. Even though the CB is no longer the place for me, I'll always be grateful for the connections it allowed me to make and the stories it let me tell. <3

A little bit about me, since none of you probably know who I am! I'm Starseeker, but I usually go by Star. I'm a college student (haha yikes) who is majoring in Art History and double minoring in Art Museum Studies and Classics and Ancient Mediterranean Studies. That's a pretty long way of saying that I want to work in a museum after I graduate! While on the CB, I had a pretty long thread of my original novel that I worked on over the span of a few years before finally finishing. Somewhere around here is also the thread of all my short stories, too, and of course my art in the art posting thread as well. It's good to see some old names on this thread that I recognize!

I hope everyone had a great Valentine's Day. It's nice to check in with y'all!

~Starseeker

It's good to hear from you, Starseeker. A museum is a wonderful place to work. Thanks for checking in. We hope to hear from you again in 2024.

Best wishes,

I should also add to this: my pronouns are she/her! And while I was on the CB, I had an AE named Zoey and a CAPTCHA named Starfire Scales. I hope everyone is having a great night/day!

Star! I was so excited to see that you posted here. I remember checking your novel and short story threads religiously to see every time you posted a new chapter. Those were some of my favorite pieces of writing on the CB, up there with Vyolette's book and "Follow me Chase me" (who remembers that lol), and such an inspiration to me. <3

It's so cool that you want to work in a museum! I'm at the point in high school where everyone is telling us to Think About Your Future and Make Career Plans, and while I don't know for sure what I want to do yet (I'm in high school! they all need to chill out!), working in a museum sounds amazing. I'm not as much an art history person, but classics and other more modern history is fascinating.

STAR!! I was hoping I'd see you here! You're really a role model for me in your art, writing (I distinctly remember Zoey and your short story thread), and the way you carry yourself so eloquently and full of kindness. Your career path seems (like everyone's) so cool.

Hi Star! Happy belated Valentine's day. Majoring in Art History sounds so cool, and so does working in a museum. Your artwork has always been a huge inspiration to me! I hope everything is well in your world!

Hey! I'm Alizarine and I joined the chatterbox in late 2017. I can't remember if I made a reunion post last year or not, but it's fantastic to come back to so many familiar names :) I remember doing a bunch of rps, a picturing thread or two, and co-writing the Ryokan Suzuran ski lodge w/ Viola. SO awesome to see another catch-the-cookie thread... I remember those... back in my day (<- under 5 yrs ago.)....

I'm a first-year college student now, and I'm wavering between engineering and environmental sci. College is busy, but really exciting, and I'm still finding time for music/art/lit in my free time! My favorite class right now is an intro to literature class-- I just finished reading Beowulf translated by Maria Headley-- and other than that I've been working on a few zines + chipping away at my hydra-headed reading list.

It's so great to see this site still active and thriving. Happy 50th, Cricket, and happy Valentine's day!!

It's good to hear from you, Alizarine! Thanks for checking in.

Best wishes,

Alizarine! You might remember me as Soren. It's good to see you again!

The Ryokan Suzuran! I wasn't in that one, but I remember reading it- that was such a good "era" of ski lodges. I've always loved your writing and humor, I remember you as one of the funniest CBers :)
