CB Reunion 2024

CB Reunion 2024

Hello, everyone! Happy (early) Valentine's Day and welcome to the 2024 CB Reunion! It's so good to see you.

For new CBers who are unfamiliar, the CB Reunion happens every Valentine’s Day. Old CBers come back to talk to their old friends and the current CBers. It’s a lot of fun! While the reunion is a lot of old CBers reconnecting, current CBers are 100% welcome here too, so current CBers should totally feel free to introduce themselves!

Speaking of introducing yourself… I’m Periwinkle, best known as Peri. I’m a current CBer, and I’ve been here since January 2021. I use she/her pronouns. I’m usually seen here working on reviving Kyngdom (which we are in the middle of right now, for old CBers who probably didn’t know that), giving advice, writing about my AEs, and recommending music. I’m also known for creating Make a Friend and Care Packages! I hosted the reunion last year, and I’m hosting again this year.

For those of you who’d like to look through some old reunion threads, here are some. Thanks to Celine (current CBer) for finding the 2023 reunion, and Kitten (old CBer, I believe) for putting some old reunion links in the 2022 reunion and making it way easier for me to organize this list!

And a list of more reunion stuff (also from Kitten, who is fantastic): http://www.cricketmagkids.com/chatterbox/downtoearth/node/401395

That should be everything! Let me know if there are any problems with the links. Have fun, all <3

(And my apologies if this is up too early — I realized I had a busy week so I decided to post it a tad earlier than I’d planned to. Please keep this topped so everyone can find it come Valentine's Day!)

LUMIII!!! sorry, I don't know you, but I've heard so much about you!! Just wanted to say hi :) *waves hi awkwardly* oh, and other things too.

There're SO MANY poems on the regular poetry thread that I really like by you, it's like every poem you write is a masterpiece :0 idk if you remember cuz woah you were 12 at the time but I think a personal favorite of the ones I've seen so far is Telegram (though if you were my muse is so beautiful and perfect and is pretty much me atm thank you <3), but... like wow. You're amazing, and you seem like such a thoughtful, caring, and nice person too! And btw responses: I like boygenius and Hozier (we just watched Kayla Mak(?)'s performance of Take Me to Church in school, which is like the only Hozier song Ik, but it's so good I got so excited it's still stuck in my head XD) and LOVEE SOC (and Matilda!)!! And love to use XD. Interestingly, all the above (boygenius, Hozier, SOC, XD... but not Matilda so nvm :) ) were introduced to me by the CB! So...

uh, yeah, that's all :) *sidles out the door*

CELINE I REMEMBER YOU ACTUALLY! you joined right as I left and I'm so glad you're still here (the next CB generation!) thank you so much for the kind words about my poetry I appreciate it so much! I don't remember writing Telegram at all and it's fully not in any of my rough draft docs (which go back to 2020 my goodness) so I can't say anything particularly intelligent about it but assuming I did actually write it I'm glad you enjoyed it!

if you were my muse was my first gay crisis and I wish you so much luck with whatever gay crisis adjacent thing you've got going on ahaha. happy to report I figured it out kind of (the girl in question liked me back; we never talked about it and became best friends; she thought I didn't like her and moved on, got a girlfriend and moved two states away so it can only go better for you!)

Take Me To Church is so good and so is SoC (we already established I love these things so I'm kind of biased though) and so in my opinion you have excellent taste <3

AHH YES HELLO I REMEMBER YOU UNDER BOTH THOSE NAMES!! definitely laughed out loud over more than one of your posts if I'm remembering right! I hope you're doing well too and I'm actually so honored you thought I was cool thank you <333

What's up, Lumi? Not sure if you remember me super well; we interacted a little here and there, but you may have forgotten. I always found you super cool, and I really loved your poetry!

I too am a choir kid who loves boygenius ("I don't know why I am/the way I am/there's something in the static/I think I've been having revelations…")! I haven't listened to much Lord Huron (oh but "Twenty Long Years" is so good) or Hozier (a little bit though). What's your favorite songs by those three? I love boygenius's "Not Strong Enough" and their cover of "The Parting Glass." I have a the record vinyl and although I can just listen to them on my phone like a normal person using my record player is great for ~the experience.~

Anyway I don't want to rant your ear off, though if you ever wanna talk theater I'm here (I think I count as a theater kid). Good luck with the a cappella group!

PERI YES I REMEMBER YOU HI!! thank you so much :) I thought you were pretty cool too!

I LOVE I LOVE Not Strong Enough (obivously), but some of my other favorites are We're In Love, Ketchum ID (I'm a sucker for harmonies ahh), and Bite the Hand. I also have the record vinyl!! Lord Huron I've actually only listened to one album bc I only started getting into them like. last week. but I've always loved the Night We Met and would 1000% recommend (especially the version with Phoebe Bridgers). Hozier favs: Cherry Wine, Work Song, Like Real People Do, and Jackie & Wilson.

um... hi! you probably don't know me, I think we just barely overlapped back in 2022, but I just wanted to say hey anyway - you've always seemed super cool to me (your poetry is so amazing :) ) and i hope you've been doing well!

Hello hello, CBers! I haven't been a CBer in a long time now (2015-2021ish) but I have a lot to thank the CB for, so I always check in during reunions!

I got my start on the CB back in 2015 when my older sister joined and, me being the little sister that I am, I decided to follow in her footsteps. I met some people who I'm still friends with to this day on here (you know who you are!) and wrote an entire novel and many, many short stories, which I posted in a long-lost thread on Inkwell. I had one AE, Zoey, and my CAPTCHA, Starfire Scales.

Let's see, a little about me, since there aren't many people who still know me, I think. My name is Starseeker, Star for short, not to be confused with Starchaser who is another lovely CBer! I use she/her pronouns. I joined in the middle of my elementary school Wings of Fire phase, hence the name and location. I am a college student now studying Art History and double minoring in Art Museum Studies and Classics - essentially, I am planning on working in an art museum in the field of Renaissance and Classical Greek and Roman art. The museum field is a rapidly expanding industry, so I'm excited to see where I end up!

I love the stars and my favorite constellation is Orion. I am an amateur graveyard photographer and a proud dog owner to a loveable little mutt as well as a proud girlfriend to a loveable little guy (alright, he's actually taller than me by a LOT, lol). The college that I attend has an almost even split of US students and international students, so I have gotten a lot of exposure to other cultures and religions over the past few years, which has really widened my worldview! I am originally from Kansas but I attend college out of state. I play 5 instruments well and 4 instruments badly. I love Batman (and almost all the Robins, of course), flowers, crab rangoons, building miniature models of things, reading, and graphic design.

I always appreciate that the CB reunion is on Valentine's Day, since it's a day for celebrating love, and the CB was once a place that I held a lot of love for. I've grown out of it now, but I'm happy to see it thriving with so many younger CBers!

Feel free to ask me anything about my life or the CB as I remember it. It's changed a lot in the 9 years (yikes!) since I joined. I've walked a lot of paths in life and I was once where you are, in school, in the CB, or otherwise.

Well, that's about all from me, I think! I'm posting this a bit early since I expect to be a bit busy tomorrow between classes, work, and going on a Valentine's Day date, but I will reply to any comments when I can.

xoxo,

~Starseeker

Hi, Starseeker! It's very nice to meet you *bows elaborately*

Wow, you're interested in museum studies?!!! That's so cool; I'm not going to college yet, but I've been thinking for a while that I'd love to get into museum studies when I do go. I don't really want to specialize in one single topic for my entire career, and with museums you can learn about so many fascinating things, so I think it would be a really good choice... Anyway, do you have any advice or useful lessons about museum studies that I should know? I would really appreciate it lol as I have practically no experience in that field >:)

Annnd happy Valentine's Day! Hope you have fun on your date :)

Hi Starseeker!! Hope your date went well/is going well/gl on your date! ... You know what I mean. And ha yess I am too (the proud family to a lovable... uh, ginormous mutt :) he's a pyr mix and I could rant about him all day :) ). That's so cool about your college!! And wow all that museum stuff sounds awesome too; I've had the pleasure of working at a museum and it's really a great experience (I could talk about that all day too :) ). And yess V-day!! <33 Just out of curiosity, what instruments do you play? And what do you mean by "amateur graveyard photographer"? :)

Hello all, ‘tis I, June, they/them. I was “active” 2016/2017-ish through 2019. Although, active is a bit of a strong word—I tried, but hardly actually managed to keep up with threads.

I never got to go hiking.

Yes…I left the CB around that time, didn’t I? Oh well.

Are we meant to talk about our Æs? Whatever the case, I might, as they’re what brought me back to the CB after all these years. But, before that, where to begin? A lot has changed.

A lot is the same...

Yes, but I think it’s more exciting to begin with the changes. Next semester I begin my first year of college! I’ll be studying Astrophysics(or Astronomy, depending on which school I choose) and Philosophy, which is both very thrillingly exciting and nerve inducing. I was diagnosed with ASD (among other things) around a year ago now, so that’s been and interesting discovery. I love Star Trek: TOS, Batman (and all the Robins I know enough about to make the judgement…yes, even (maybe especially, whoops) Jason Peter Todd), documentaries (particularly of the science or intellectually flavored history variety),  Doctor Who, Anarcho Punk and Queercore and Bach’s music, and Strawberry Shortcake. Quite a lineup, I know.

I play electric guitar (albeit incredibly badly). I still write all the time, and I still love to engage in a healthy debate.

The CB was very important to me—even if I was never incredibly active, and almost always slightly confused, it really was a very beneficial space for my younger self to engage with.

Is it our turn yet?

I don’t know if you get a turn, actually. Sorry,  Max. I will say, what led to me returning to the CB to glance around was my AES resurfacing in my mind. I’d missed them, certainly, and so I began writing little scenes in the let’s play house style. (Is that thread still active, I wonder?) Mostly Raven and Max musing and chatting, and Silvern providing “random” additions from the sidelines. They’re all mostly the same and quite different, all at the same time. For example, Max is still prone to “simping”,

*blushes and mumbles something*

Shh, you agreed with Raven when she said it. He’s also more glam rock now (not that he wasn’t always a touch) and he gives kind of older Christopher Robin energy? I don’t know how else to explain it. The scenes are quite lovely.

Anywho, now I’m here. I don’t know if anyone really remembers me, but I’m happy to be back for the reunion regardless. I don't know what else to say, but if anyone has questions I would be delighted to answer them!

Oh, fie! The bold and italics didn't go through. Well...The first one, about hiking, is meant to be bolded for Max, the next one ("a lot is the same...") italic for Raven, and the last two ("is it our turn yet?" and the blushing and mumbling) bold for Max again.

Hey June!! Never met you but you seem cool :D

Ooh, college! Very exciting. I love philosophy (though I'm 14 and not very knowledgeable about it XD) and I've always wanted to try electric guitar!

Salutations, Periwinkle! It's lovely to meet you. It's so cool that you're already interested in philosophy! I had only the vaguest idea of the subject at your age. (I may or may not have been under the impression (until decently recently) that it was just a bunch of ancient dead people arguing about whether anything existed...which of course isn't necessarily wrong, but it's very much not the full truth either! Not that that piece isn't quite interesting in it's own right.) As for electric guitar, I am nowhere near skilled at it but I can tell you it's a lot of fun, and a very enriching experience! I would highly recommend it, although I might caution to actually use an amp that is compatibie with headphones...I did not, and although my family is very kind there is only a certain amount of stumbled riffs echoing around the house that a person can take. xP
