Chatterbox: Down to Earth

On the "Global

On the "Global Warming is..." thread, I noticed people talking about God. That thread took a long time to load for me, so I am posting here.

People were saying that there is no evidence that God exists. Here are some questions:

1. Where did humans come from? Some of these ideas circulating *coughbigbangtheorycough* are just outlandish- something exploded and a whole race of humans was born? *skeptical snort*

2. Where did that ideas about religion come from? If God doesn't exist (which He does!) then where did these ideas come from? I believe that Jesus came down from Heaven to save the World from sin. And that is why He would save us from anything (@ people on GW thread). He loves us.

3. If we don't believe that there's something bigger than us, we really are in trouble. We start thinking that we are above everything else and all-powerful, and this isn't true. SOMEONE had to create everything in the universe, and if we don't at least acknowledge that then we have no hope.

I believe very firmly in God. I'm a Catholic and proud of it. People were saying that there's no proof that God exists. I disagree, with flying colors. There is so much proof from people everywhere that it's undeniable, in fact. I've prayed to God and He's pulled through in the most amazing ways. My friends agree with me; it's happened for them too, and many other people I know. We've all experienced miracles. I know I have.

Please post your opinions on God here. Summarizing my post: I very firmly believe.

Well, I'd like to hear your opinion, but if the Admins would zap it, never mind.

But I will grant you this much -- it WAS all based off fact. The part I disagree with is the part the Admin would zap. But good fact usage.

I truly disagree with that. I go to a Church of Christ which originated from Christ, but I don't want to argue.

Yay, Mary Jo! *applauds your terrific statement* (But what about Judeism? ((spelling...?)) Wasn't that the original branch of Christianity that Jesus was born into?)

Falmiriel- why do you not want to go into Jesus here? This is, after all, a thread to discuss religion.

Yeah, don't bring Hitler too deeply into this. I don't consider him Christian/Ctholic. He's not in Heaven, I'm guessing. :/

Judaism. And yes, Jesus was Jewish. The Last Supper was a Passover seder.

I believe in God as well. But I'm Muslim. I agree about miracles, too. I firmly believe also.

You're Muslim? Cool! I thought this was an all-Catholic/Christian site, except for me. Not that there's anything wrong with that, I just thought I was the only one.

In my social studies book it says Muslims kneel and pray 7 times a day facing towards the mosque or something. Is it true? I am very curious.

I heard that it was facing Mecca, but I'm not Muslim so I don't know. I actually am very interested in other religions. A while back I was going to do a research book about different religions. I still might.

In some parts of devout Middle East, that is true. (It's facing Mecca, like Lena said). But that's what all Muslims do; the main part of Islam is being kind, peaceful, etc. Also, my own little opinion: Global Warming is happening, and even if it isn't, will it hurt the planet if we try to prevent it? (Wow, weird sentence:)). I mean, if there is Global Warming, obviously we should try to stop it. But even if it isn't, it can only do good to Earth if we carpool, etc. Also, I agree with Lena that religion is a choice, not a command. Okay, before I get carried away...

We're all carried away. Don't worry about it.
