Robots vs. Humans

Robots vs. Humans Sci-Fi RP

*Note* I tried to post this before and I am not sure if it went through. So if this is a duplicate (or almost), sorry... and post on this one instead.

Here's a new RP idea from me! Hopefully this one is going to survive... with more than 2 posts... Frown all my RPs die...

Anyhow, my idea is that both robots and humans are considered citizens (on earth). Robots want to be more human, and humans want to be more robot. Like, robots like how humans have more in-depth emotions and are in general are more accepted, and humans admire robots' strength and ability to live forever (mostly). However, is each side okay with kind of merging with the other? Will a cyborg class emerge, different from both robots and humans? Or will robots'/humans' unwillingness to cede their powers to the other side lead to war? *dramatic voice* You will decide!

And... yeah! Make your characters! Um, but one request--no cyborg characters yet please, because we don't know if cyborgs will become part of the story. Please just make either robot or human characters, and then you can make them cyborg later. And you can have both a robot and a human character, or two of one side, or... basically any combo you want.

Name: Kija Arken

Age: 13

Robot/Human?: Human

Appearance: Brown hair, tan skin, dark brown Asian-looking eyes. Wears jeans and a hoodie. Usually holding her tabcomputer or it's in her pocket. Has a habit of twirling her tabcomputer stylus in her fingers, tucking it behind her ear, tapping it on the table when she's thinking.

Personality: LOVES RESEARCH. Loves to learn. Is keeping close track of the robot vs. human debate, realizes the advantages of both sides, not partisan (in the debate)

_____________________________________________________

Name: I-51 (Ishi)

Age: Has been in service 15 years, teenage-looking, but she's not a companion robot, she's a librarian, so she knows more than a 15-year-old human or companion robot *Note* Companion robots "grow" in maturity and knowledge along with a certain person.

Robot/Human?: Robot

Appearance: Silver plating, feminine appearance (doesn't look like one of those faceless robots who are referred to as it, not he or she), has hologram projector in palm so can display information, wheels in feet so moves very fast.

Personality: Works in the library. Often meets Kija, often talks to her about the robot vs. human debate. Personally believes that becoming cyborg should be a choice everyone is free to make (not partisan)

Kija~

Kija walked down the street, twirling her stylus in her hand as she headed for the library. It was a pleasant, balmy summer day. Clouds scudded in the sky, and a breeze whipped Kija's brown hair around. She pulled up her hood as she kept walking.

On the street corner, a rusty robot held out a hat. "Please donate money to help old robots get new parts so they can continue to live their lives! Every stel helps!" Kija walked over and dropped a few steel coins -- stels -- into his hat. "Thank you very much," the robot nodded to her. "Have a wonderful day." Kija nodded back and continued on her way.

As she walked, she watched the people and robots making their way around the town. In this area, most people were walking, enjoying the day. Both robots and humans patronized shops selling everything from specialty metal-polishing cloths to spare hologram projector parts.

Kija arrived at the library and pushed open the doors. A blast of air-conditioning greeted her as she walked to her usual seat, a stool at a counter near the shelf of tablets written in binary. Since most robots and most people knew binary, that shelf had a steady stream of people going by. Kija enjoyed people (and robot) watching, but for now she took her tabcomputer from her pocket and began clicking around with her stylus, looking to see if she could read a copy of that morning's news. She wondered if Ishi would come by that day to chat. Yesterday they had had a very interesting conversation about whether material prejudice (metal vs. flesh) could be avoided. Kija would like to talk  to Ishi about it more.

So, looks like everyone else is getting together, forming an alliance. You guys are probably going to be the ones who make peace in the end. Should Ishi and Kija get in on this, or maybe join later and for now just witness the chaos? Plot ideas?

Someone could somehow get a glance at the future and it was filled with robots, no humans. They have to figure out a way to stop this from happening. While they do this they find the Timekeeper, who has the history of robots and humans. Something went wrong in the past with Jesse, and the hero people have to find Jesse and change the problem in the present. That solved, the have a war to deal with...

Just random ideas. You might be able to find the next part of the plot in my twisted tangle of words! :)

So... magic, or tech? Yes, or no? Guys?

If you want to use pieces of my idea, why not both?

In the end, can Jesse make up with her family?

Also, I am not joining this RP, I'm just bored so I'm posting stuff!

Hmmm, I thought the timekeeper could be robot; he/she doesn't have to be magic, just a historian or something.

I enjoy reading this! Someone should write it all down and use it for a story!

Sorry, Danie, but I'm ignoring your comment because I'm not evil.

Sorry, but it's my charrie.

Nenya suddenly saw the cyborg and calmed down.

"Stop!" she said. "Someone might get hurt!"

"Sorry," Nenya said, "I was just an-"

"Yeah, me too. I'm mad as hades."

Nenya smiled.

Jesse~

She smiles, but I don't smile back. You can't really trust a person who almost killed a bunch of people.

"What's your name? How did you become a cyborg?" the cyborg asks. I frown.

"I don't think I need to tell you that." I reply. She looks at me in surprise.

"But... It's just a question."

"I still can't trust you that well." I say, looking down. She sighs.

"Look, you aren't safe."

"Why not?"

"Can't you tell? You're a cyborg! if someone finds you, they can mess with your robotic side! They can change so much..." She trails off, probably thinking of something. I look at her again.

"Fine. My name is Jesse. And my parents drove me to their lab where they work, and changed me." I shake my head in shame. She looks at me kindly.

"It's okay. you'll get over it."

"No I won't!" she screamed back.

A lamppost pulled out of the ground and hurled next to the other lampposts.

"What did I....." Jesse looked at her hands.

"It's your telekinesis. All cyborgs have it. I wasn't trying to hurt them, though!"

"What?" said Jesse. He saw that four people were trapped under a lamppost cage. Suddenly, a dillapidated building collapsed on top of it. The people screamed, but the cage proected them.

"I told you I know what I was doing," Nenya said.

"How did you know that would-"

"I calculated the odds of it falling. They were high."

Jesse looked down at her feet, embarrassed.

Sudenly the lamppost Jesse had thrown peeled away and fell, slamming into two people.

"Careful, Jesse!" gasped Nenya.

"Sorry, I-"

A man ran towards them, shouting.

Ishi~

Ishi snapped on the next morning and immediately rushed to a hologram to figure out what was going on. City in Chaos, read the line of text that raced around the sphere. At yesterday's antipredjudicist convention, one extremist stirred up a mob that is attacking robots on the grounds that robots deserve no more rights and that humans are superior. Robots are advised to stay in their homes/workplaces, for the mob is out of control and attacks upon no justification. Both the provoker of the mob and the presenter and his presented "cyborg" at the convention are being searched for for provoking an attack.

Ishi was the only one awake in the library at the moment, for it was about 5:30 A.M. and still dark. Still, at the windows, she could see a crowd gathered. She had to contact Kija -- but she couldn't face that mob and go out, and she couldn't face herself or Kija and call her up on the tabcomputer. Rubbing her fingers together uneasily, Ishi sneaked into the security and familiarity of her desk.

Ishi~

She didn't open the library. One part of her, the good part, said, If I let in that mob, the library will no longer be a safe haven. For some crazy reason, she felt that at this point, the city needed a safe haven -- for robots, for... cyborgs. No one deserved to have to run from anyone just because of who they were. If anyone needed help, they could learn that the library was closed from the mob.

Ishi sent out a small notice on the robot-only netboards: The City Library is closed. If you are in need of refuge, we can hide you as a librarian. Send messages to Librarian I-51.

Ishi logged out of her tabcomputer and went back upstairs to check out some of the empty librarian rooms. The human librarians didn't stay overnight much -- there weren't any now, which meant a lot of empty rooms. Ishi set to work plugging in spare charging stations and moving furniture to make more space.

*guys, you can come to the library and meet ishi!*

Jesse~

We race back to the city, not looking back at the man. I don't even know where my parents are. But seriously, I don't care. The cyborg smiles at me.

"I'm not sure if I told you this, but my name's Nenya." I nod, smiling back. I could hear the man yelling at us still. I glance back, watching as he slowly but surely was just a dot in the distance. I face forward again, and hear something beep in Nenya's phone. She slows down and lifts it up.

The city library is closed. If you are in need of refuge, we can hide you as a librarian. Send messages to Librarian I-51.

"You're connected to the robot's netboards?"

"Yes. I'm connected both to the robot's and human's." She looks at the message again.

"We should go there! Maybe they may accept us." Nenya says, coming closer to the library.

"I guess. We could try." I sigh, watching her type into the phone. She sends it to the robot, and puts the phone back into her pocket.

After a few minutes, a robot greets us at the entrance.

"Hello. You must be the cyborgs, correct?" she asks, watching us.

"Yes. Can we come in?" Neyna rustles with her hair.

Ishi~

"Hurry, hurry," Ishi told the two cyborgs. Neither was the one who had been seen at the convention -- one was maybe her age, with blonde hair, and the other looked maybe two years older, taller and with short brown hair. Letting the two in, she quickly closed and locked the library's back door behind them. "Come upstairs, and I'll get you your stuff."

The two followed her up the stairs to the mezzanie, then behind the shelves and through the door to the librarians' main area. Ishi picked up one of the chairs there and brought it with her into one of the larger librarian's rooms.

The room had a charging station, a bunk bed with some thin sheets and a flat pillow, a desk with one chair -- now two -- and a tabcomputer lying on the desk. "You two can sleep together in here. It'll be easier to disguise you as humans than as robots, so just wear long sleeves and gloves. And preferably you--" she nodded at the tall brunette -- "should work in here on shelving so that people won't see your face.

"Okay," Ishi changed the subject, "I'm sheltering you, so you have to explain. Sit down."

Ishi sat on one of the wide, flat rungs of the bunk bed. The two cyborgs sat on the two chairs. "So," Ishi continued, "who are you, what are you, and how can I help?"

To correct you, Jesse is the one with the robotic face. She has brown hair and is very short.
