Robots vs. Humans

Robots vs. Humans Sci-Fi RP

*Note* I tried to post this before and I am not sure if it went through. So if this is a duplicate (or almost), sorry... and post on this one instead.

Here's a new RP idea from me! Hopefully this one is going to survive... with more than 2 posts... Frown all my RPs die...

Anyhow, my idea is that both robots and humans are considered citizens (on earth). Robots want to be more human, and humans want to be more robot. Like, robots like how humans have more in-depth emotions and are in general are more accepted, and humans admire robots' strength and ability to live forever (mostly). However, is each side okay with kind of merging with the other? Will a cyborg class emerge, different from both robots and humans? Or will robots'/humans' unwillingness to cede their powers to the other side lead to war? *dramatic voice* You will decide!

And... yeah! Make your characters! Um, but one request--no cyborg characters yet please, because we don't know if cyborgs will become part of the story. Please just make either robot or human characters, and then you can make them cyborg later. And you can have both a robot and a human character, or two of one side, or... basically any combo you want.

Name: Kija Arken

Age: 13

Robot/Human?: Human

Appearance: Brown hair, tan skin, dark brown Asian-looking eyes. Wears jeans and a hoodie. Usually holding her tabcomputer or it's in her pocket. Has a habit of twirling her tabcomputer stylus in her fingers, tucking it behind her ear, tapping it on the table when she's thinking.

Personality: LOVES RESEARCH. Loves to learn. Is keeping close track of the robot vs. human debate, realizes the advantages of both sides, not partisan (in the debate)

_____________________________________________________

Name: I-51 (Ishi)

Age: Has been in service 15 years, teenage-looking, but she's not a companion robot, she's a librarian, so she knows more than a 15-year-old human or companion robot *Note* Companion robots "grow" in maturity and knowledge along with a certain person.

Robot/Human?: Robot

Appearance: Silver plating, feminine appearance (doesn't look like one of those faceless robots who are referred to as it, not he or she), has hologram projector in palm so can display information, wheels in feet so moves very fast.

Personality: Works in the library. Often meets Kija, often talks to her about the robot vs. human debate. Personally believes that becoming cyborg should be a choice everyone is free to make (not partisan)

Kija~

Kija walked down the street, twirling her stylus in her hand as she headed for the library. It was a pleasant, balmy summer day. Clouds scudded in the sky, and a breeze whipped Kija's brown hair around. She pulled up her hood as she kept walking.

On the street corner, a rusty robot held out a hat. "Please donate money to help old robots get new parts so they can continue to live their lives! Every stel helps!" Kija walked over and dropped a few steel coins -- stels -- into his hat. "Thank you very much," the robot nodded to her. "Have a wonderful day." Kija nodded back and continued on her way.

As she walked, she watched the people and robots making their way around the town. In this area, most people were walking, enjoying the day. Both robots and humans patronized shops selling everything from specialty metal-polishing cloths to spare hologram projector parts.

Kija arrived at the library and pushed open the doors. A blast of air-conditioning greeted her as she walked to her usual seat, a stool at a counter near the shelf of tablets written in binary. Since most robots and most people knew binary, that shelf had a steady stream of people going by. Kija enjoyed people (and robot) watching, but for now she took her tabcomputer from her pocket and began clicking around with her stylus, looking to see if she could read a copy of that morning's news. She wondered if Ishi would come by that day to chat. Yesterday they had had a very interesting conversation about whether material prejudice (metal vs. flesh) could be avoided. Kija would like to talk  to Ishi about it more.

Um.. Well..

I guess we could both be that type of person... We'd still have to get. Permission. Um, shouldn't there just be one mysterious drop-in drop-out person?

Not to  be mean or anything. We'll have to see how this plays out.

Can I please be the mysterious person who doesn't join? I'm new here and still getting used to rps. I just started doing this a few days ago.

So did I. We will ask Air to choose which one of us will be the mystery person.

Rodric waited an hour. For some reason it had gone quiet upstairs. The man outside left, and Nenya suddenly came down.

"Nenya! hi, um-"

She looked at him, surprised.

"Uh, I um, I'll buy you lunch!"

Um, Rex, we're kind of at a suspenseful moment right now... can we postpone this moment?

So, Figure and ..., are you sure you don't want to join? Because I think most people want to be their own characters. But you are welcome to just randomly add passages as long as you don't crazily change the plot (like introduce unicorns or aliens or something totally unrelated) and as long as you don't steal anyone's characters.

Ishi~

Ishi's photoreceptor eyes glowed faintly in the darkness of the closet, casting light over her hands. Jesse and Nenya huddled in the dark with her, breathing fast and shallow. "What are we going to do? He could be after you, since you're cyborg, or he could be after me, since I'm robot. What... what can we do?"

Neither Jesse nor Nenya said anything. Nenya was staring straight ahead at the wall like she was planning to break through it, while Jesse had her head on her knees and was muttering something under her breath, either "Oh my gosh oh my gosh oh my gosh" or maybe "oh shoot oh shoot oh shoot."

Ishi took a deep breath. "We've got to send in someone else for him to shoot at... as ruthless as that sounds. Um... oh!" Ishi flipped open a panel in her forearm to reveal an embedded tabcomputer that connected her to the library controls: security systems, other librarians -- and the shelving drone bots. With a few quick swipes, she activated the bot she knew was sleeping next door and covertly unlocked the door of the room to let it in. "I just activated a shelving robot, like the cart-with-a-motor one. It's going to come in here, and I think the man at the raygun will shoot when he sees -- or detects in infared -- any movement. There's going to be an explosion, but then we'll run."

Nenya gave a quick nod and braced herself against the wall, while Jesse curled tighter into her ball. Ishi closed her eyes, waiting.

Silence, silence... the door of the room clicked open. Ishi squeezed her eyes tight. A shout, the whizz of a ray... the BOOM of an explosion shook the closet. Jesse gave a short scream and Nenya jumped.

Sorry for taking up so much room with my made-up argument! Writing it was like writing a story, and it was funny how the two characters came together in my head.

I can be crazy and weird. I'm new to the Chatterbox.

Okay lets start over. My name is Abigail C. I am 12 years old, a girl (duh), and right now I'm gonna be late for school so I'll come back later.

Hi Abigail!

So... nice to meet you, after you had an argument with yourself...?? :-)

Are you sure you don't want to join? You can be a robot character, or the man who just shot the raygun? Please join, we want more people!

Jesse~

I scream, hearing the loud boom. I feel something sting on my right arm, but I don't want to look.

Smoke is everywere. I cough, trying to see through the smoke.

My robotic eyes see through everything. I watch Neyna wobble off the wall, ashes covering her.

"How could of it hurt us?" I spit out. "The man was too far away."

"I don't know. It doesn't make sense. The only way if he was pointing exactly toward u-" BANG!! Another explosion sends my legs into the floor. I cry out in pain.

"He knows we're here!" Neyna coughs out. And we do the only thing possible, or smart. Run. The gun goes off again, but we keep running. I don't know how the man knows we are here. He must have some tracking device... Maybe he...

"I need to go." I stop, skidding on the smooth ground.

"Wh-hy?" Isha turns around, facing me.

"They must have put a tracking device on me when they transformed me into a cyborg. I need to go." I walk back to the entrance, but Neyna stops me.

"Th-h-ey could change you!" Neyna stutters. I yank her hand off me though.

"I don't care. It's better to kill off one than more."

Ishi~

Ishi stood up in the closet, blocking Jesse's way out. "No. You can't."

Jesse looked angry. "I'm just a cyborg. No one cares about me. I can protect you. LET ME OUT!"

Ishi remained calm. "I'm just a robot. I'm less than you. I can't even die -- if you rebuilt me and gave me the same positronic code, I could live forever. Stop being noble."

The closet rocked again. It felt like the whole building was being blasted. "I was wrong -- I can't protect you here." Ishi closed her eyes in submission. "No. No. We WILL find a way out of this. No one deserves to die this way."

Ishi faced the two cyborgs. "We have to hurry. I can contact anyone or summon any reference. Contacting might be helpful, but no human will get into this, and robots will be attacked same as I will. Do you cyborgs have any powers that could help?"

"Both of you get down!" Nenya whispered. They ducked as her telekinesis slammed out the door into the man, slamming him into the wall. Nenya snatched the raygun up and pointed it at him.

"S-stay down or I'll shoot!" she said.

Jesse~

"Telekinesis," I reply back to Ishi as we watch Nenya snatch the raygun.

"Now sweetie, I don't want you, you pathetic cyborg," the man says.

"I-i will shoot!" Nenya replies.

"Why? Go save your own self. I only want her." He juts his finger toward me. And that's when I make a run for it.

Ishi~

Ishi watched as Jesse ran off. She's a cyborg. Other people will be after her!

Ishi ran after the cyborg girl, out of the room, through the librarian area, and out into the main library. The library had been sacked, too. Lights flickered pathetically, tabcomputers and hologram projectors had been ripped out of their sockets, and the beautiful glass windows had been smashed. The whole library looked like it was about to come crashing down.

Jesse darted through the fallen bookshelves, dodging falling lamps and wires with superhuman speed. Ishi followed, keeping hot on her trail. She couldn't let the cyborg die without just cause!

From behind her, Ishi heard whizzes of rayguns, the blasts shaking the ground and felling tables and desks. Were they intended to hit Jesse or herself, Ishi didn't know. She just kept running, hoping she, Jesse, and Nenya would all survive.
