Percy Jackson RP!

Chatterbox: Inkwell

Percy Jackson RP!

Percy Jackson RP!
I haven't seen one of these for a while, so I decided to make one.
In this RP, the satyrs have gone missing, so the gods themselves must help the demigods on their way to Camp Half-Blood. However, the gods can't help them directly. So instead, they put all the demigods in the same school, and left a copy of a Percy Jackson book, in hopes that they would come together and realize who they were.
The charrie sheet:
Name:
Age:
Immortal parent:
Any powers/ talents (You can have either 5 small talents, 2 big talents, or 1 talent and 1 power):
Appearance:
Personality:
Favorite weapon:
Background/Other:

Here's mine!
Name: Kalinda Patel (Indian)
Age: 13
Immortal parent: Hecate
Any powers/ talents (You can have either 5 small talents, 2 big talents, or 1 talent and 1 power): She has one talent and one power. Her talent is drawing, and her power is magic.
Appearance: Dark skin, and long, wavy brown hair. Brown-black eyes.
Personality: Very outgoing. She has a lot of friends, and is extremely nice. However, she is also show-offy.
Favorite weapon: Dagger
Background/Other: None

And here's another one!
Name: Sakura Kita (Japanese) (Last name means "north", first name means "cherry blossom")
Age: 12
Immortal parent: Apollo
Any powers/ talents (You can have either 5 small talents, 2 big talents, or 1 talent and 1 power): She has 2 big talents. She is extremely good at writing poetry and has won quite a few singing contests.
Appearance: Short, with straight black hair usually pulled up into pigtails. Her eyes are angled upwards (Unlike my own).
Personality: Very secretive. She doesn't want to be judged by her family. She's also a sad girl. And she does NOT trust anyone.
Favorite weapon: Sword
Background/Other: Her great-grandfather was a general in World War II, and she obviously keeps that secret. Her aunt also died from leukemia, because of an atomic bomb.
It would be cool if someone made a Chinese charrie, one who was killed by her great-grandfather! The conflict would be fun to write about. (Many Chinese were killed in World War II, but we only learn about the Western deaths in school.)

@Mei

I don't have STAAR until May....I guess the last standardized test I had was the benchmark test, but it really isn't very important.

why did you want to know that.

I'm still on the day before. I'll catch up in my next post.

Kyanite~

Since I sit at the back of the bus, Sophia, the other highschooler who lives at Ms. Palmer's home for children, reaches shelter from the rain before me. Her blonde hair streaks out behind her as she dashes, head down, through the grey. I follow at a slower pace, my shoulders shifting under my backpack straps. Ms. Palmer meets me as soon as I step, dripping, through the low doorway.

"Did you have a good day?" She asks.

"No."

"Did you get caught in the rain?"

"Obviously." I shake off my backpack and leave it sitting in the row of bags and book-bags from the other orphans. Ms. Palmer's thin, whispy, grey-blonde hair looks frizzier than normal. Her worried eyebrows narrow, and she sighs.

"I had some parents call to day, asking if there was anything they could do-"

"I'm NOT going to be a foster child." I start to pour myself some water, but end up slamming the pitcher down on the table.

"You don't have a choice-" she starts feebly.

"I can make them hate me."

"Yes, you can," she muttered. And that was the end of the discussion.

~

"Ms. Palmer! Kyanite stole my socks!" Ten-year-old Riley screams from the hallway.

"Did not!" I yell back from my room, without putting down the book I was reading.

"Can I at least look to see if they're in your room?" She begs.

"No way."

"Please?"

"Is this about socks, or digging through my stuff?"

"Socks..."

"I'm locking the door."

"Awww!" I think I hear an extra pair of giggles accompanying her. Ms. Palmer clumps up the stairs, a few seconds too late as usual.

"To bed! All of you! You have school tomorrow!" She calls. School tomorrow...

Never mind, we don't go to the same school… I don't live in Texas.

I have a very loose-end-tying idea: Assigned reading! Percy Jackson can be assigned reading.

Also, I'm going to continue with the day before-- I'm going to start with the powers stuff. Nothing major, just getting people confused.

Justice~

"Oh, crud."

Everyone else rustles around in their folders for the handout given out yesterday. Me? I interally bang my head against the desk about a million times.

"What happened?" whispers Ianthe.

"I forgot to do the worksheet!" I reply. "Ms. Cassio's gonna kill me!"
"Well, take it out," she says calmly and rationally. "Tell her the truth and maybe you won't get penalized as much."

"What, by saying, 'Sorry, Ms. Cassio, I was too busy playing FIFA with my little sister to do my homework'?" I say, sarcastically, but I take the empty sheet out all the same.

But when the ELA teacher picks up my sheet, all she says is, "Good job, Justice," before putting it back down on my desk.

Ianthe and I exchange a "look."

___
If you haven't guessed, that was accidental manipulation of the Mist. Sorry it was so short-- I need to think on how Justice and Helena would react towards the Minotaur.

Well, I was planning for everyone to have mysteriously and coincidentally found the book, but I also like St. Owl's idea. How about a vote?

Ianthe-

The minotaur turns around, hitting Kyanite with its huge, hairy arm. Kyanite seems unconscious.

The stick-bearers try to fight him off, but he's too strong for them.

I run towards Kyanite to see if he's injured. There's no visible wounds, but he's definitely knocked out.

Then I see his bow and quiver lying on the ground. I pick it up, my hands shaking.

I take a deep breath. Ianthe, you can do this. You've taken plenty of archery classes. Just pretend the minotaur is a target. Just a target.

I fit the arrow into the notch and pull the string. Then I release.

The beast bellows, but I keep firing arrows, over and over again. Then I realize that I only have three arrows left.

I look around desperately. We need a plan. We can't just keep throwing sticks...

Julia's eyes meet mine.

She pulls her phone out of her pocket.

Julia-

Ianthe's eyes meet mine. We need a plan. Sticks and arrows aren't enough to defeat this monster, and we don't have swords or anything.

I pull out my phone.

"You're texting NOW?" Halley screeches. "WE ARE GOING TO DIE! WHAT THE HECK-"

"Be quiet, I'm HELPING us," I hiss back.

There's a "mini-crane" in the corner, used to load boxes on carts. Right now it's still, and it's holding a large box labeled "WARNING: HEAVY".

I recall that over the summer, the school was remodeled, and that some mechanical functions are now controlled by computers.

I open the internet and hack into the school system, like I've done twice before, once for the sake of doing it, and the other for searching for documents to prove that one of the administrators was breaking the law.

I find the mechanical functions, and hack into the crane controller.

I make a gesture towards Ianthe, and point to my phone, then the crane, then the minotaur, then I make a smashing motion with my hand. If we could force the minotaur underneath it...

She gets the message.

"Jake, Alana, Sakura, Chris, push him into that corner!"

Alana and Sakura start thrusting their sticks at the Minotaur, who stumbles backwards, while I fumble with the crane functions.

Jake runs around to the other side of the minotaur, and it reaches towards him.

Hiding behind the trash can, I gasp. He's a goner.

Then he does something completely and utterly crazy.

He jumps up six feet and lands on top of the minotaur's head.

"Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!"

The minotaur stumbles backwards. Two more steps, and it'll be just right.

He takes two steps backwards.

I press the button to releas the box. I can hear the gears of the crane creak.

But it doesn't drop the box. My heart drops. The minotaur roars. Halley screams. Ianthe yells. I close my eyes. it's all over. The gears are stuck.

Sakura kicks the machine.

The box is dropped.

BOOM!

It crashes onto the minotaur, and it dissolves into golden dust.

For a moment, there's silence.

Jake is about to say something, when suddenly Ms. Parks, one of the ladies who works in the main office walks onto the courtyard.

"Thank the heavens above!" Jacinth says. "Finally somebody heard the commotion."

"Helena, Sakura, Halley, Justice, Kalinda, Ianthe, Leo, Julia, Jake, Chris, Alana, Kyanite, and Jacinth. Report to Conference Room B immediately," she says, her voice unusually bland and flat.

"Ma'am, we were just attacked by a monster-" Jake starts.

"Report to Conference Room B immediately," she repeated, not hearing anything Jake had just said.

"We have just been attacked! Can you not see the destruction?"

"Report to Conference Room B immediately," Ms. Parks says again, and I notice that her eyes are strangely blank and glassy.

Alana walks up to the office lady's and waves her hand in front of Ms. Parks' face. "Hello, are you hearing us?!"

Ms. Park doesn't even blink. ""Report to Conference Room B immediately."

"It's the Mist." Kyanite says quietly as he sits up shakily and walks towards us.

"Okay, fine we'll go." says Chris.

Ms. Parks walks away.

"Well, I guess we should go to Conference Room B," says Jacinth.

@Mei-xue

Yeah...I admit I cringed a little when I saw Hermione A's post (I am sorry, Hermione A, I didn't mean that in a mean way) because when I was discussing ideas, I didn't really mean RIGHT away, and I didn't mean it as a definite thing. I didn't want to rush. I wanted to discuss more, maybe even vote.

But Hermione A, you started the post, and I didn't know what to do, so I just added on to it and though "oh well," and then this kid (I was typing at school) kept hovering over my shoulder and really bugging me, and the bell was about to ring, and I rushed writing it, and then a teacher came over and asked if I was doing homework and I said no I thought during homeroom we could do other things and he said not today because everyone else is being really loud and I thought but I already finished my homework and anyway he gave me five minutes to finish up, and no time to explain my feelings on the matter......DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

Owlgirl's calm inner conscience: Calm down. Take a chill pill. I understand you were stressed and are now confused

*takes deep breath*

Okay, I'm fine now, but to sum it up...this part of the roleplay DID end up getting rushed, and should we vote or discuss or something......

Jacinth~

Dad found me braiding my freshly washed hair at the kitchen table when he came down from his study.

"Hi, Flower-Jewel. Supper in ten minutes. And you'd better clean up those footprints."

"I'm on it," I sigh, tying off the braid.

After supper, when it stops raining, I feed our horses: Romeo and Juliet. I get to bed at a decent hour and wake up to hear Dad mumbling something as he paces his actic study. I catch the words:

"Macbeth, and profound." That's Dad for you. It's simple arithmetic for him: Shakespeare=profound basis of life. I dress and dash downstairs to make pancakes. I call my 2nd cousin Julia Ahlberg (is that okay?) for a little while, and a little while turned into a longer while, and a longer while turned into burned pancakes.

"Phone?" Dad says, sternly holding out his hand. I plunk the sparkly purple cell phone into his palm.

"Charcoal lumps in ten minutes!"

___________________________

I pretty much zone out during the whole history lecture and follow everyone else out the doors and across the open courtyard at the end. Me and twelve others are the last to cross the courtyard. I daydream almost all the way to the other side, but then I am suddenly stopped.

"MINITOAR!"

"What?" I yell, turning around and almost dropping my leather book satchel. And I stand face to face with... a thing. A hairy mass of muscle and monster.

"Ahhh!" I do what any normal human would do: that is, race behind a trash can screaming my head off.

"911! Dial 911!" One of the other normal human beings behind the trash can yells at me.

"MY PHONE WAS CONFISCATED THIS MORNING!" I scream back, this time dropping my book satchel.

Halley-

The Minotaur thingy is running around. I don't really like this. Julia pulls out her phone. "You're texting now!!!!" I screech. "No," she says "this could help us." Wow, this tech girl is cray-cray. But she has a plan. She wants to drop a giant box on it. The Minotaur runs under the box. The box doesn't drop. I scream. I am way to young to die! The box falls. The Minotaur dies. Ms Parks walks over. She says "Report to office B." Ma'am, we were just attacked by a monster." Jake starts. Nice try, Jakey. We leave. Wow, my life is weird.

I have a few matters to address:

@Everyone:  I am sorry, I apologize if I rushed things. It seemed like we had gotten enough posts. But...I mean, three people already posted about the Minotaur. Does that mean we are going with it?

@Owlgirl: I did not take offense to anything you said, and I understand.

@Leafmist: Are you okay with Jake kind of liking Alana?

@Lemon banana: Wow, that was a fast post.

"MINOTAUR!" Kalinda Patel's shriek rings through the air. "MINOTAUR!"
My books fall out of my arms. I gasp, then fall backwards into my hands.
A bull-headed man is charging towards a group of students, their faces pale.
I'm aware of Halley screaming at Julia, "YOU'RE TEXTING NOW?" However, I know what she's doing. She told me that she can hack into the school system, which controls the mini-cranes.
"Push him into the corner!" A girl screams.
As for what happens next, I vaguely remember throwing sticks, an unconscious boy, and a bull's head snarling like a mother bear whose cubs someone's just threatened. I remember kicking something. I remember the Minotaur exploding into golden dust like light into a rainbow.
But most of all, I remember the girl's face. Ianthe.
She gave me directions like she trusted me. Like she didn't expect me to turn against her. Like she didn't even know--No, that wasn't possible. She had to have known.
Or did she really?
For no real reason, tears fill my eyes as I head to Conference Room B. Are they out of relief, happiness, or fright? I have no idea.
My great-grandfather fought in World War II
I don't even ponder the fact that the Minotaur is real.
