Team Terranova!!!

This thread is for the members of Team Terranova only (Windswift, Jack-A-Nat, The Riddler, Joan B. of Arc, and myself) although you can still read it as long as you aren't on the other team.

Alright, everyone! The Realms Contest is on. We have until September 21 to finish our fantasy world before it is judged by Daisy, Brookeria, and Gared. Firstly, does anyone have ideas for what the world will be like? (Don't post them until the 21st of August, when the time limit officially starts!!!) Secondly, who wants to do what? I would like to work on the short history and maybe a little of the map, but I do not want to do the map on my own.

@Windswift, Jack-A-Nat, The Riddler, and Joan B.~ Post below if you're here and ready to start!

I like coming up with names a lot, so I definately want to do that. I also want to draw the charries. Oh, and make charrie sheets.

That's alright, we can still start it without you. I can't wait for you to return, though. You have great roleplay ideas!

Top!

I think we should start now, even though Scylla has not yet made her team's thread yet. Windswift and the Riddler can catch up later.

So, what ideas do you have for this world? What creatures should we have? What kingdoms should we have? And what magic powers do you think are the coolest? Here are some of my thoughts:

* I think we should have a forest of some sort that is a dark and unruly place full of wild magic, weird creatures, and things like that.

* I also think that the general types of species people use in fantasy worlds are elves, dwarves, humans, dragons, and sometimes fairies. However, I think we should go beyond that and use some of the less overused creatures, such as dryads, tree and water nymphs (like the ones from Greek myths), merpeople, genies, and maybe some magical creatures we invent ourselves as well. Perhaps there could be a species that is allied with the dryads (which are tree people, by the way) that has the power to control vines and plants in general?

* If we do use elves, should they be tiny or life-size, like from Lord of the Rings?

* Perhaps the elves could have shrinking and growing powers.

* What if the 'fairies' aren't really fairies at all? They could be life-size humanoids with large, feathery wings like eagle wings that live in colonies in gigantic nests atop the mountains, perhaps? Maybe we should give them a different name, then.

That's all for now!

Also- one more thing. I might be able to create a three-dimensional map of our realm using my large collection of strategy games, like Catan and Risk.

Hey, um. Sorry to interupt but, this sounds really cool, any chance that I can join?

You will have to find someone else who wants to join as well, as people can only join in pairs after the contest has started. This is so that I can flip a coin to place you both into teams randomly, and so that no team has more members than the other.

See this link for an explanation on the Realms Contest~ http://www.cricketmagkids.com/chatterbox/inkwell/node/250065

I know it might be a little tricky finding a second person, but that's the only way to keep things fair for both teams. :)

Hey everyone! I have put together a list of links to really good fantasy world RPs. I am using them for inspiration.

Everyone, could you give me feedback on my ideas and post some of your own?

Warning: I am a judge, and I am only trying to promote originality.

I want you, Jarvis, to be careful about using board games to create a 3-dimensional map. I do nat want a Catan theamed Risk as your fantasy world. Also, those RPs you are using as insparation; do the owners want them to be used as insparation? Be sure to give credit.

-Bye!

1) Catan uses 'terrain hexes' (hexagonal peices of different biomes that fit together) to create a board of sorts that is used in gameplay. The board can be constructed any way you want with any combination of terrain hexes and any combination of biomes. It is not like typical board games, which only have one fixed board. Also, it includes pieces like houses and cities and roads in different colors, which can be used to show different contries. The only things I will use from Risk are the soldier pieces, which can be used to represent people and/or soldiers. Here is a picture of a Catan Board: (I hope it showed up!)

2) The RPs I posted were for inspirational purposes. I am not taking any ideas from them, or copying them in any way, I am just looking at them for a clear picture on what people put in fantasy worlds. If we do end up using an idea that is specific to somebody's past RP, then of course we will give credit.
