Brrring! Brrrrrring! The

Chatterbox: Inkwell

Brrring! Brrrrrring! The

Brrring! Brrrrrring! The old-fashioned phone fairly jumped off the table with excitement.

"Hold your horses!" A tall, athletic girl with a long blonde ponytail called, gathering the phone and cord up into her hands.

"Yellow?" She asked brightly.

"Tonia? Is that you?" A soft, eerie voice asked.

"Ye-yeah!" Answered the girl, a bit shakily, "Hold on a second." Then her voice grew muffled to the mysterious caller as she turned her mouth away and yelled: "JARREN! GET DOWN HERE!" To some other personage.

"Okay, what was that?" The girl asked sweetly, coming back to the phone.

"There's been a disappearance."

"A..." stuttered Tonia, "disappearance?"

"And there will be more than one if you don't listen, you insolent little girl!" Tonia's mouth snapped shut.

"Now, as I was saying, there has been a disappearance, I won't tell you whom or how or when, but I want you to find the missing agent. I will give you one clue: 'harpshicord.' That is all," continued the voice.

"What!" Squeeked Tonia, "but that's impossible!"

"You will not be doing it alone. I have incorporated the help of some very highly respected detectives. They call themselves...The Chatterboxers. Cybers or See-Bee-ers for short. There are more clues than you think there are. You have 2 months. No more, no less. Goodbye." And the line went dead. Tonia clicked through the caller-ID. The last call it reported had been from her brother, Jarren, who had called her house yesterday evening after school. It was as if the mysterious call had never taken place. But it had.

"J-J-Jarren?" She called shakily, looking around for her big brother.

"Right here," he said, more gently than usual, "I heard everything." Tonia swallowed, then whispered: "You know we can't disobey The Agent." In responce, Jarren nodded seriously.

"I guess we'd better find these folks that call themselves 'The Chatterboxers.' "

"This...this is impossible though! No information. Absolutely none. Jarren..." Tonia moaned.

"Stop whining, Sis, this is a life or death situation," her brother responded, clasping her hand in his. And at that wonderful, bonding moment, what appeared to be a pie slammed against their window. And then, exactly 3/4 of a second later, the doorbell rang. The Chatterboxers had arrived.

Sorry for the short days...

File 8

The new girl's long, free-flowing blonde hair met her acutely pointed ears like water flowing against ice. Her casual stance and loose clothing also contrasted with her sharp blue eyes. Next to her was another newcomer. Her braided, light brown hair was woven into a knot at the back of her neck, and what looked like a sword was strapped across her back. Standing slightly behind them was another girl, sipping on something hot that smelled like pumpkins and cinnamin.

"Hey Brooke! Good to see you!" Called Icy.

"Yeah...um...glad you could make it Joan," greeted Puck, casually slipping something into her coat pocket.

"I thought you were stuck in security!" Daisy exclaimed.

"Yeah, I wonder why," Bolton muttered, looking sideways at the knife in holding the paper to the front door. Daisy nudged him, hissing:

"Be nice!"

"We were totally stuck when Joan tried to get her sword onto the plane," explained Brookeira, "but then Autumn," she squeezed the shoulder of the third girl, "had the great idea to start singing Hamilton songs in the middle of the airport."

"Oh," Autumn replied, blushing, "I was just...it was just an idea."

"But hey!" Whooped Joan, "it worked! And you were a great Peggy, Brooke." She smiled in a teasing way.

"That's Brookeira to you. And I still don't get why I had to sing for Peggy," she said, shaking her head, "she doubles for—"

"Yes," interupted Autumn very quickly, "we know. Please do not ruin this beautiful fall day by speaking of she-who-must-not-be-named."

"Fall? I prefer summer," Rose bud interjected, coming up behind Autumn and playfully pulling on her scarf, "no school, no cares, no SHOES!"

"All right, now that most of us are here, we'd better hurry if we want to make it to the festival on time!" Kestrel reminded, beginning to shephard the chattering...erm...chatterboxers towards the Extreme Deductions van." Instantly, everyone was squashed, squished, squshed and squooshed into the van. Tonia found herself next to a window. She looked back worriedly at her house. How was she ever going to explain this to her parents?
