Chatterbox: Inkwell

Brrring! Brrrrrring! The

Brrring! Brrrrrring! The old-fashioned phone fairly jumped off the table with excitement.

"Hold your horses!" A tall, athletic girl with a long blonde ponytail called, gathering the phone and cord up into her hands.

"Yellow?" She asked brightly.

"Tonia? Is that you?" A soft, eerie voice asked.

"Ye-yeah!" Answered the girl, a bit shakily, "Hold on a second." Then her voice grew muffled to the mysterious caller as she turned her mouth away and yelled: "JARREN! GET DOWN HERE!" To some other personage.

"Okay, what was that?" The girl asked sweetly, coming back to the phone.

"There's been a disappearance."

"A..." stuttered Tonia, "disappearance?"

"And there will be more than one if you don't listen, you insolent little girl!" Tonia's mouth snapped shut.

"Now, as I was saying, there has been a disappearance, I won't tell you whom or how or when, but I want you to find the missing agent. I will give you one clue: 'harpshicord.' That is all," continued the voice.

"What!" Squeeked Tonia, "but that's impossible!"

"You will not be doing it alone. I have incorporated the help of some very highly respected detectives. They call themselves...The Chatterboxers. Cybers or See-Bee-ers for short. There are more clues than you think there are. You have 2 months. No more, no less. Goodbye." And the line went dead. Tonia clicked through the caller-ID. The last call it reported had been from her brother, Jarren, who had called her house yesterday evening after school. It was as if the mysterious call had never taken place. But it had.

"J-J-Jarren?" She called shakily, looking around for her big brother.

"Right here," he said, more gently than usual, "I heard everything." Tonia swallowed, then whispered: "You know we can't disobey The Agent." In responce, Jarren nodded seriously.

"I guess we'd better find these folks that call themselves 'The Chatterboxers.' "

"This...this is impossible though! No information. Absolutely none. Jarren..." Tonia moaned.

"Stop whining, Sis, this is a life or death situation," her brother responded, clasping her hand in his. And at that wonderful, bonding moment, what appeared to be a pie slammed against their window. And then, exactly 3/4 of a second later, the doorbell rang. The Chatterboxers had arrived.

File 9

Dudelhiemer drove as if the car was her pencil and the double yellow line her ruler. Jarren was glad that she seemed so precise; there weren't enough seat-belts to go around. As the van turned a perfectly angled turn out of the Letter's neighborhood, Brookeira (who had somehow managed to grab the front seat), began pressing buttons on the radio.

"Mutants are a threat to normal humans—!"

"Nope..."

"The Emergancy is going out of control, things must change no—"

"No..."

"Cal-if-orn-ia gurls—"

"NOOO!!"

"A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away—"

"No..."

"In other news, Jem Louise Margaret was found stabbed in the—"

"Almost there!"

"I remember that night, I just might remember that night for the rest of my days..."

"Yessss!" Came a chorus of shouts.

"Oh no," Sam groaned. Jarren looked over at him. He had a feeling that he wasn't going to like this music.

"What is it?" He asked.

"The worst musical on the planet. Well...it would be decent if I hadn't heard it so many times. Trust me, it gets annoying," Sam answered. Tonia smiled gradually as she listened. Eventually she picked up on the tune and a bit of the repititious parts so that she could follow along. This really was fun! Scratch the fact that she was with a bunch of crazy agents jammed-packed in a van that smelled strangely of lemmings listening to Hamilton music blasted from well-used speakers. She looked around. Almost everyone was jamming to the music and having a blast, whether they could sing or not. For perhaps the first time in her life, she felt like she really had friends. Or maybe it was just her imagination; ignited by the wind blowing through her hair, the loud, crazy, and catchy tunes, and The Chatterboxers singing around her, grinning fiercly. A dare-devil grin slid over her own face as Rose bud yelled:l

"EVERYONE GIVE IT UP FOR AMERICA'S FAVORITE FIGHTING FRENCHMAN!" Then Dudelheimer stopped suddenly, guiding the van expertly between two white lines. The music stopped, and Tonia was dragged back into reality. Her Mother would want an explanation. She was alone with a bunch of people that she couldn't trust, even if she soooo wanted to. And, worst of all, The Agent's ominous prescence loomed over her like a shadow.

File sidenote: researched by R. Edited by W. Re-edited by S.

The Extreme Deduction Trio is best known for thier part in researching and solving lemming-related world demoninations. What is a lemming? The following definition should enlighten you.

"A lemming (lemmus lemmus) (I kid you not) is a small, cute rodent that you can't find in pet stores in California, which is a downright shame, otherwise I would have bought about ten by now. They live mostly up in the Artic and are notorious for following each other off of cliffs and drowning to death. This is not true. When migrating, lemmings do often ahve to swim across rivers and while a few may drown, the majority of them will make it across the river. Interestingly enough, lemmings are actually really agressive and will react agressively towards humans. Therefore, they make perfect army material.

You will become a lemming. You will become a lemming. You will become a lemming."— Red  (retired Chatterbox agent).

Wow! That's so cool!
Truthfully, all of these are so cool. When California Gurls played I was like "NOOOOOO!!!!!!!" Right along with Katy Perry.

Also, "A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...." was a Star Wars reference....not an X-Men or Mysterious Benedict Society (sorry dunno which)

The very first one, "Mutants are a threat to normal humans" was an X-Men reference. "A galaxy far, far away" was definitely Star Wars.

The first was probably an X-men reference. I THINK the one about "The Emergency" is from The Mysterious Benedict Society.
