Secret Forest RP!

Secret Forest RP!

It's been a little while since I have last had a RP, so I'm making a new one! Let's try to keep this relatively simple, and we can all make up the plot as we go along. In fact, do any of you remember Brookeira's Strange New Type of RP? I was thinking we could do something like that; where we make our characters, start writing immediately, and sort of concoct a plot. The main idea is: our charries go on a *normal* hike and enter the Secret Forest, a forest that seems to have a personality of its own. If they want to escape, our charries have to become an unlikely team...

Character Sheet:

Name:

Age (middle-school age please):

Gender:

Appearance:

Personality:

"Gifts" or powers of any type:

My charrie:

Name: Ellie Violyn

Age: 12

Gender: Female

Apperance Light blonde hair that reaches the middle of her back, clear bright blue eyes. A little bit short.

Personality: Though not talkative, she is certainly not shy! She is a great leader, loves to be in control and on top.

"Gifts" of powers: The ability to communicate with animals.

Following Brookeira's format, we'll each start immediately after posting our charrie. No rules, except try to agree with others' posts.

Ellie~

"Ellie and Mark, you're a team," Coach Grant instructs. To my disappointment, Mark rolls his eyes in responce to the sympathetic looks his friends give him. He slouches over, not looking at me. Coach Grant continues down the line, calling off names. Shifting my weight so as to better support the heavy backpack dragging my shoulders down, I glance at Mark, who looks away boredly. I stare at my pink-toed sneakers. So what if he's in 8th grade? He doesn't have to act so snotty!

"Listen UP!" Coach commands. The general whispering and giggling and grumbling diminishes for a few seconds; just long enough for Coach to order us all in the bus. Then the chatter starts all over again as everyone fights and argues about the seating. Spirits are NOT high today. Coach starts the engine. I watch through the window as Camden Middle School fades from sight. Sighing, I lean against the cold window pane. This is going to be an...interesting field trip.

We've got a couple conflicting posts. So I'm gonna mess with time to get everything sorted out.

1. We find Ellie.

2. Sasha takes the broken girl under her wing (not literally y'all).

3. Mark, who is the only person (unwillingly) trained for magical disasters, helps Ellie snap out of her trauma.

4. Suddenly, Mark's danger sense goes haywire because:

5. Something black jumps out of the bushes.

6. Hazel is possesed by The Voidling.

Ellie~

"Here, drink this," Mark commands. His fingertips brush against mine as he puts something in my hand and guides it to my lips. A cold, bitter tast fills my mouth as I force myself to swallow. Despite the liquid's coldness, it seems to generate a heat inside. Growing warmer and spreading outwards until... I gasp as my mind becomes clear and my memories fall into place. Yet my eyesight doesn't come back. Sitting up, I shake out my tangle of blonde hair.

"Hey Mark," I say softly. There's no answer. I can't help smiling. He may be the sulky, goofy 8th grade jerk of Camden Middle School, but there's also something different inside that's fighting to come out. The real Mark; the Mark that I've never seen before. Or maybe I have all along. I shake my head free of all thoughts except important ones; for now, I need to focus on the threat at hand.

"Guys, I need to tell you something," I call out, hoping that the others, however many there are, are listening "the strangest thing happened to me, and I think it might be a new threat. There's something...inhuman in these woods."

"Other than us, you mean?" Someone scoffs. Mark, of course. Someone laughs. Someone else makes defensive noises. Probably Sasha. The warm fire that somebody called Tyberious conjured up crackles and pops. It's so nice to know that I'm not alone in this world of magic. Realizing there is a smile on my face, I force it away and prepare to continue my story, but suddenly Mark yells: "Ellie, Sasha, duck!" Shocked into submission, I obey. For a few seconds there is nothing, and then the underbrush behind us crackles. I hear an animal-like growl, but it is drowned out by Sasha's screams. Putting my hands out in front of me for protection, I back away slowly, trying to make sense of the confusion of noises. Growls, screams, and scrambling fills the air. And then Mark begins to yell.

Mark~

The pain us unlike anything I've ever felt before. It starts out like always; a sudden spark of urgency, a vague sense of what form the danger will come in, then the urgency to help everyone around me, and then the pulsing headache that takes over after that. Something is wrong with my control; I know that now, otherwise I wouldn't be getting these headaches. I race towards the mangy black animal attacking Sasha, only to be stopped by another danger; this one stronger. My feet force me over to where Hazel is standing, but then... the pain inside my head goes wild. Images chase each other in the confused haze; Sasha screaming and grabbing at sticks, Ellie backing slowly away with her hands oustretched, Hazel yelling and clutching her head. Squeezing my eyes shut, I drop to the ground, trying to block out the horrible pain. Throbbing, tearing, all-consuming pain. This isn't how it's supposed to be. If I only I had embraced my power sooner, then maybe it wouldn't have grown out of control.

Tyberious~

I backed away wanting to help hazel but i couldnt it could affect anyone and everyone. but to give the REAL hazel hope i summoned another firebal and shaped it into a little firey dragon. as i point to her it flys over and circles her i see her loosen but she clearly is still in deep deep pain. "i may have something.." i say as i  search my pack but i find nothing. i see clearly now that it has nezarly taken full control. "come on you can do it" i mutter so that only hazel can hear. "you can beat it." i see her shudder once and then i sence a darkness around her it won!...

Hazel- I fight it. My mental wall seems to be helping. "Come on," Tyberius encourages me quietly,"You can beat it." My mind burns as I fight the thing, whatever it is. I know I can't win, not permanently, as long as it is in my head. I need to drive it out somehow, but first I need to be in control. I bend over, my body forced to ts knees by the two consciousnesses battling inside... I have the upper hand, for a moment. It stops fighting me, but I know it will be back. Right now, I need to take advantage of my control. I cough. "I'm back," I say weakly. Never in my life have I felt so... empty. I hear murmured exclamations. I remember what's happening. "Ellie!" I say. "Is she okay? The blonde girl crosses in front of me. "I'm fine the thing.. whatever it is left me and went into you."

"How do you feel?" Someone asks me. I cough. "Drained," I reply. Suddenly I double over in pain. I glance aroud. "It;s back," I warn. I lock eyes with Tyberious. A single word forms on my lips. "Please..."

Pheonix~

I don't care what they say. I'm going in to help Ellie.

She is lying in the ground, curled up in a ball. When she sees me coming towards her, she tries to get up but immediately falls back to the ground. She is shaking. She is weak.

"Are you okay?" I ask, offering her my hand.

Sorry I haven't posted in a while.
Celia~
I hesitate between Hazel and the big black thing that's attacking Ellie and Sasha.  Realizing I can't do anything for Hazel, I focus on my power and send sticks and and strong winds at it, blowing up a whirlwind around it, trying to make dizzy and confused.  Soon, the other kids realize what's going on and begin adding their powers to mine, working desperately to defeat this monster.  Finally, it seems to give up and disappears almost as quickly as it had appeared.  Exhausted, I drop the sticks and release my winds.   "What was that thing?" someone asks.  A couple people shrug, but no one can answer the question.
"Where's Hazel?" I ask.  "She ran off that way," a boy who I think is named Tyberious answers, pointing off into the woods. Oh no.  My heart sinks.  "What happened to her?"   After a minute, Ellie speaks up, slowly, hesitatingly. "I think she was taken by that thing that- , well, possessed me.".

Ellie~

I've always had a way with animals; almost like I knew what they were thinking. And now I understand; it was my powers. I pick up on a tangle of emotions. Hatred. Pain. Confusion. Malice. I push harder, trying to communicate with the beast; and all of the sudden, I feel as if I've tumbled into a black void. Part of me is panicked, but my instincts take over, drowning everything else out.

"Hello?" I whisper, and I can visualize my words in front of me, like a twisting silver ribbon that appears shapeless but yet...is understandable. That's my word! That's my 'hello'! Instantly, another long, silver ribbon twists in front of me; another "universally translated word." This one feels different, and I realize that the beast is communicating with me. It isn't a word, exactly; more like an emotion. A blend of things that I can't figure out. Concentrating, I force my translating abilities to kick into gear. Angry. Hatred. Humans. Grrrrrrah! At least, that's what I think the word means. "Friends. We won't hurt you or your habitat," I add, thinking about some of the emotionally injured animals I've encountered. Anther silver spegetti-like ribbon of light appears in front of me. Like the others, this one stands for more of an emotion than a sentence. When I decifer a meaning, the words don't make sense, but the feelings behind them do

Humans; humans. Hrroth-grr; Hrroth-grr. The creature wants us to leave it alone, and it will leave us alone. Throwing my mental self out of the dark mind-connection void, I rise back to the surface and break through into my own brain. I smile, hearing confermation from the others that the beast retreated. The silver ribbon-like visual "words" still dance through my mind. I guess being blind in real life doesn't hinder my mental self. I have mental powers! This is so much cooler than I thought at first. More fragments of conversation drag me out of my self-congradualtion. Uh-oh. That mindbender is back. And it has Hazel!

"I think she as taken by that thing that—well, possesed me," I explain. It's a little difficult to grasp all this magical mind-stuff, but I think "possesed" is the right word.

"Is everyone besides Hazel all right? I can't see, y'know," I add, surprised at how light-hearted I sound. Everyone starts calling names and questions and there is a bit of general scuffling.

"Larkin?"

"Celia? Great job with those sticks—"

"Sasha are you—"

"Fine...I'm fine. I just blanked out when that thing jumped at me. Scared me to death."

"Mark?" I say softly when nobody calls his name, "Mark, where are you?"

Mark~

"Mark, where are you?" Ellie's voice seems to come from very far away. It's too high-pitched, a quality I've always disliked about her voice, and it strikes through me like a shard of ice. My mind is too scattered with pain to focus on something, so it takes me a while to register the words. Mark? Mark? Mark? Her voice echoes, bouncing around my brain like an escaped dodgeball and sparking another flaring headache, rising like a butterfly from a cocoon out of the last one. I don't want to answer. I don't like the way she has started looking up at me like a big brother. Heck, any type of siblings are the last thing I need.

"Mark, where are you?"

"Here," I groan, just trying to keep that annoyingly high voice out of my head.

"Y'okay?" If I say yeah, will she shut up?

"Yeah."

"No, you're not. I can sort of pick up on emotions—animals, mostly—but...what's wrong?" A longer sentence. Her voice is even higher. Or maybe my annoying headache is just amplifying it. Whatever. All I want is for all the noise to just stop and the pounding, throbbing ache to just stop.

"Stupid. Freak. Powers." At this point I don't honestly care whether or not I hurt her feelings.p

"That...doesn't make any sense! Why aren't your powers working out while ours are steadily developing?"

"I don't know. I don't care. But...please stop talking. It's driving me nuts." Squeezing my eyes shut tighter and clamping my hands over my ears, I try to drown out the world. The world that's never wanted freakish, unsympathetic me.
