Secret Forest RP!

Secret Forest RP!

It's been a little while since I have last had a RP, so I'm making a new one! Let's try to keep this relatively simple, and we can all make up the plot as we go along. In fact, do any of you remember Brookeira's Strange New Type of RP? I was thinking we could do something like that; where we make our characters, start writing immediately, and sort of concoct a plot. The main idea is: our charries go on a *normal* hike and enter the Secret Forest, a forest that seems to have a personality of its own. If they want to escape, our charries have to become an unlikely team...

Character Sheet:

Name:

Age (middle-school age please):

Gender:

Appearance:

Personality:

"Gifts" or powers of any type:

My charrie:

Name: Ellie Violyn

Age: 12

Gender: Female

Apperance Light blonde hair that reaches the middle of her back, clear bright blue eyes. A little bit short.

Personality: Though not talkative, she is certainly not shy! She is a great leader, loves to be in control and on top.

"Gifts" of powers: The ability to communicate with animals.

Following Brookeira's format, we'll each start immediately after posting our charrie. No rules, except try to agree with others' posts.

Ellie~

"Ellie and Mark, you're a team," Coach Grant instructs. To my disappointment, Mark rolls his eyes in responce to the sympathetic looks his friends give him. He slouches over, not looking at me. Coach Grant continues down the line, calling off names. Shifting my weight so as to better support the heavy backpack dragging my shoulders down, I glance at Mark, who looks away boredly. I stare at my pink-toed sneakers. So what if he's in 8th grade? He doesn't have to act so snotty!

"Listen UP!" Coach commands. The general whispering and giggling and grumbling diminishes for a few seconds; just long enough for Coach to order us all in the bus. Then the chatter starts all over again as everyone fights and argues about the seating. Spirits are NOT high today. Coach starts the engine. I watch through the window as Camden Middle School fades from sight. Sighing, I lean against the cold window pane. This is going to be an...interesting field trip.

Sasha~

The world comes back to me in a rush of motion, dragging me out of my memories.

"Sasha are you—"Ellie's voice rings out. I hardly register the fact that, for once, someone actually cares for my well being.

"Fine...I'm fine. I just blanked out when that thing jumped at me. Scared me to death," I gasp, trying to sound like a normal teenage girl after a haunted house, although I am far, far from it.

She moves on to worrying about Mark. I don't bother, something in the back of my mind telling me that he'll be fine. Glancing around to make sure no one notices, I slip out of the clearing, shifting into a lynx as I go. Power surges through my muscles and I take off at a sprint, reveling in the freedom of being able to use my power. I come upon a stream, burbling happily, and stop to take a breath, though I feel as though I have energy to run for days. Despite the peaceful calm of the forest, something feels... off. As if there is some kind of  underlying darkness, and it's becoming restless. I leap into the air as noise explodes in my mind. I pick out voices. Familiar. I can't hear what they're saying. Wait. Whispers in the wind. I blink. A lick of fire appears behind my eyelids. Then it's gone. I step backwards, my ears swivelling, noting every little noise. I shift back into human form. Everything stops. The forest is calm again. My brow furrows in confusion. What just happened? It comes to me with a start. I just experienced a tiny bit of everyone's powers. Why? How? This can't be good. The forest. It's messing with us.

With a flash of pain, I become a falcon and rise above the trees. Within minutes, I am back at the camp. I land in the middle of it, shifting back to human just before I hit the ground.

I see Mark double over in pain. Danger

"Guys. This forest is messing with us. We have to get out. As soon as possible," I whisper, every muscle tensed and ready for danger.

Sorry if it's confusing. I'm not sure where I'm going with this. I just put down whatever came to mind, hoping to add a bit of drama! :)

Celia~
I lean against a log, watching the fire and chatting with some of the others.  Mark is sitting on another log on the other side of the fire by himself, his head in his hands.  Apparently, his powers are still acting up.  I glance across at Ellie.  Her eyes still give me a shock when I look at them. She's surprisingly happy and cheerful, considering all the things that have happened to her.  I idly glance into the woods and see Sasha slipping off, changing into a falcon.  I frown, but Larkin asks me a question, and I turn back to our conversation.
I've almost forgotten all about it when Mark suddenly double over, grasping his head.  All conversation stops immediately, and everyone starts glancing nervously around.  Then, Sasha lands in front of us, panting, "Guys. The forest is messing with us.  We have to get out. As soon as possible." She whispers.  There's a moment of stunned silence, then I move toward, "What do you mean?". " I went out there and it started messing with my mind, making me feel and see things.  I..." She trailed off.
Sorry, gtg.

Not everyone has learned to work as a team and confide in their friends...we're not out of the woods yet! I know what is wrong with Mark's powers, but I'm not going to reveal it just yet. Mwahahaha! BTdubs, I'm so sorry he's such a jerk; sometimes we just need to have characters like that to make the story more realistic and exciting. Also, you know how blind people have to rely on their other senses more so they get stronge? Well, what if Ellie's powers of mental communcation with other beings grows and gets stronger?

Mark~

I selfishly wish I hadn't given the rest of the mind-clearing potion from my ecentric father's lab to Ellie. Maybe it would have helped me sort out my powers. Fragments of conversation bore into my brain. Celia and Sasha stand in the middle of the small clearing, talking. Sasha keeps glancing protectively towards Ellie, who is totally oblivious. Suddenly, the ongoing pain worsens and I feel a rush of urgency.

"Everyone scatter. Now!" I yell as the ground begins to rumble—except this time it's not an earthquake. No one questions the sudden order and everyone immediately dives for cover. Turning to follow, I grab Ellie's hand and leap out of the way as a huge column of smoke, ash, and flame erupts from the ground we had camped on. Now I know why the area was less wild and green than the area around.

"Thanks," Ellie says, squeezing my hand, "I smell fire..."

"Yeah—" I don't finish my sentence, as the pain that comes after I use my powers strikes suddenly, like a kick in the shins. A strong mental force seems to push outward from that special place inside my head where I can sense danger. The pain seems personified somehow: and like a ripping, tearing, clawing beast, it fights inside of me.

"Mark! Your mind's defenses are down...somethings in there!" Ellie exclaims. She grabs my shoulders as my knees buckle and I sink to the ground. Leaning against a tree, I focus on taking deep breaths. Although my brain is in such turmoil that I can't think; something seems to click into place. The fact that I'm not irritated with Ellie anymore. She's...my friend.

"Hang on—I'm going to try to get into your mind."

"So...you're going...to poke around...in my...brain?"

"My powers...I'll explain later." Ellie closes her eyes and I can literally feel her plunge into my thoughts like a cold wave of water. Everything seems crazily disjointed. I can smell the sweet sap of the tree; hear the talking and chattering of the living forest, but everything seems so surreal. In my thoughts, Ellie's mental prescense radiates calm. I try to embrace the serenity; to escape the pain. The forest around becomes blurry and muddled and then black. The last thing I hear is Pheonix's scream.

This is so much fun! I love/hate Mark's character, but that's what makes him so three deminsional.

Ellie~

As I enter the dark recesses of Mark's thoughts, I realize that he might not even feel that I was digging around in his mind. Like, I could make him reveal his deepest secrets and he wouldn't even know I had pried. The thought makes me shudder a bit. Of course I wouldn't do something like that. Suddenly, the whole power thing scares me. I need help. I need training and guidlines. I can't do this alone. Then I remember the others. I'm not alone.

It's funny how, even though I'm blind now, I can see without really seeing. I can feel the darkness around me and both feel and envision that universal silvery language of mental communcation. Taking a deep breath, I begin to speak with my thoughts. Why aren't your powers working? Mark's "voice" comes back to me, calm and cool and without sarcasim or anger, and I can see and hear it at the same time. Because, unlike the rest of you, I was not born with powers. My chest constricts and I focus on taking deep breaths. A million questions race through my head, most of them beginning with "how?" Somehow I manage to push my mess of confusion into "louder" thoughts so that Mark can hear/see them. My father was experimenting...he said the headaches would go away. They just got worse.

What can I do?

I don't know. I don't know many details. It was a long time ago. But these powers don't belong to me. They've been tearing me appart for 9 years, and now they're almost done. Suddenly, the silvery darkness grows dim around me than disappears altogether.

"Ellie! Please stop staring into space! We've got problems!" Somebody yells. The forest comes into sharp focus around me.

"BIG PROBLEMS!" Yells Tyberious. I turn around quickly and can't help screaming. The ground is split open in multiple cracks and huge green snakes are rising from them, writhing and twisting. I can't help but scream. And then I notice they aren't snakes. They're plants...

Tyberious~

The vines grab onto my leg and start to pull me down and once I am completely entangled it takes me to the center of a ring of thorns and is constricting me. I feel the thorns digging tinto my skin and i let out a shreek of main as the stench of blood grows stronger and the vines are twisting harder and harder making to hard to breath. Then i dont know what happened either i passed out of blood loss , lack of air or fear the worlk doies black.

AAAAAAHHHH! This is what happens when you totally forget your charrie is blind. Oops.

Ellie~

Sasha grabs my hand.

"Ellie! The plants are—" her sentence is cut off as she screams.

"Sasha!" I yell, reaching for the place where she just was. I feel nothing. Oh no. Oh no. There isn't anything I can do! Or... suddenly, a crazy idea leaps into my mind. I can delve into the minds of other beings and communicate with them, but can I do that to a lot of creatures all at once? Like, mass mental communication? I push out my mental voice, trying to touch every animal in the forest with that silvery language. Tear apart the plants. Free my friends. At first, nothing happens, but then I hear a rush of wings overhead. It worked!

Rosy says "fcab." I think she wants to go to summer camp and stay at Fab Cab Tab (cabin Tabitha).
