Wings of Fire

Wings of Fire Roleplay!!

Alright, so in this roleplay the canon characters do not and have not existed.  The wall of weird IceWing aristocracy rankings was never broken. There is no decades-long rivalry between any tribes (y'know, besides the usual "my tribe is better" junk.)  The Lost Continent is common knowledge. SilkWings are still servants of HiveWings, but there is no mind control. LeafWings' existence is not a secret and they live in a secluded forest. There is a school just like Jade Mountain, Unity Academy, but it exists on an island between the two continents and takes tribes from both continents. Scavengers are treated as they were before book 14 or Dragonslayer, in fact of even less importance because of the lack of the War of SandWing Succession.  They are of little consequence to this story.

Other than that the world is the same.

There can only be one Animus dragon for each tribe- it's first come, first serve (and only for Pantalan dragons.)  Only one blood-red egg MudWing and only one firey-scales SkyWing.  One character can be a hybrid for each roleplayer.  Four leafspeakers, four flamesilks.

There are five winglets in the school, just like Jade Mountain: Ruby, Topaz, Emerald, Sapphire, and Amethyst, each consisting of ten dragons.  You do not have to be a student.

All righty then!

"Oh, hi-" the dragon squeaks. "Yeah, I'm lost. Are you?"

"NO. I came down here for a bit of PEACE and QUIET, Obviously that is something that no-one can get around HERE."

I huff. I miss it back in the rainforest, when I could actually have my own quietness. I stretch out my wings, and clear my throat. I can see Swallowtail flinch.

"Ahem. I will escort you back to your dorm."

My mind tells me that Swallowtail doesn't trust me, but is willing to because the whole point if this school is to "tRusT oTheR tRiBeS". I smirk and let out a sort of ha, before stepping out. Swallowtail slinks after me.

Then she has a thought that makes me panic. She believes I am a mindreader. And I can feel a sort of tiny cactus prickle going up- but I ignore that. It's not too bad.

But she dismisses that thought, and we reach the dorms.

"Here." I sniff, Swallowtail jumping in her hammock.

I close my mind once again, and decide to stay up the night, on my mossy floor, reading a scroll by the skylight.

Morning comes, and the two have a strange conversation.

"WAKE UP!" I yell, interrupting their conversation. "It's time for breakfast."

I walk to the prey center, opting for a bit of walrus that they had somehow brought over. I sniff it, and snarf it down- gracefully, of course- before eating a mango and heading to History.

The teacher gives a long lecture, and I open my mind to a Seawing-Leafwing hybrid nearby. Her thoughts are normal, before there's something that makes my breath stop.

She mentions a dream dragon. White, or something.

I begin panicking, and ask to "get a bottle of ink" as an excuse. Swallowtail volunteers to go with me (she also forgot her ink..) and we walk down the hall, my eye twitching. When we get to the dorm, I wheel around to a halt.

"I'm about to trust you with something I haven't trusted anyone with. Can you promise that you won't tell anyone else?"

The cave roof arches over me, little crevices and corners catching my eye. The green dragon with all the morning glories is nearest to me, nibbling one of his claws; I wonder where he came from and why he wanted to come here. Then I turn and move into the next classroom.

Right now we’re learning about various wars in Pyrhian and Pantalan history. Not that there were as many wars in Pantalan history. I curl my claws, squelching any thoughts about our superiority. ((Tsuki, can you specify which wars actually happened on these continents?))

Swallowtail is missing,

I pick up my scroll—A History of the Pyrhian Wars—and idly roll through it. Then the teacher clears her throat and class begins again.

Tuning her out, I watch the LeafWing. He’s reading his scroll with fascination. Who ever saw such interest?

The faces of the dragons in the room all range from fascination to boredom. Swallowtail is closer to the fascinated side, while the orange-and-black RainWing looks definitely on the bored side. I wonder how my face looks. (As soon as I have that thought, Astraea starts giggling and receives a stern glance from the teacher.)

Class drones on. A bird has gotten into the cave and is flitting around the top. I watch it flap and shift my wing, sending a flash of pain through my shoulder. How had it gotten in? Had it flown all the way through the many tunnels? Or could there be…

My eyes fall on the darkness in the upper corners of the cave.

Is it too dark?

Could there be a tunnel to the outside there?

My heart thumps excitedly. Maybe I should check it out after class.

((I thought that if our characters ever need to escape from this cave they can use that tunnel. Just an idea.))

||Swallowtail||

My heart thumps with shock. Ender stands gracefully before me, her eyes dark with intensity. What could they want to tell me? My mind flashes to many things (the most bizarre being that she is part scavenger and can shapeshift into that form), but I push them away and nod. “Yes, I promise.”

The darkness of the caves curve around us. My wings tremble.

“Alright,” Ender says, leaning towards me….

Ohhhhh this is getting exciting....

"Yes, I promise." Swallowtail says.

"Alright," I say, leaning towards her.

I lower my voice.

"Alright. I have a dreamvisitor. I'm a mindreader and an animus. I read someone's mind about a dragon visiting their dream- a white one, i think, and, I panicked. So I came here to check on my dreamvisitor."

Whilst saying this, I lift up a patch of moss. The dreamvisitor is there, sapphire and sparkling. I sigh in relief.

((The Sage Wolf this is crazy but I was just looking through my notebook and a year ago I made an OC.  Ice-Rain hybrid.  WHOSE NAME WAS PRISM.

Great minds think alike, right?))

The tip of my tail twitches, excitement just barely contained, last night's mystery dream forgotten.  I glance around the room at all the familiar and unfamiliar faces, trying to read each one and guess their story.  Oh look, there's Starless.  The intimidating NightWing notices me as well and offers a quick nod.  Our history teacher, a no-nonesense looking SandWing, begins the lesson.

"The Scorching, which we base our idea of time upon, took place five thousand and twelve years ago.  Though none have yet been proven to be true, there are many legends about before the Scorching, where scavengers were said to rule the earth.  This monumentous event is the time in which early dragons united to overthrow the dominant species."

I listen for a few minutes, then my gaze wanders around the room, surveying the different dragons.  The two RainWings from yesterday- Flamingo looks quite bored, his tail flicking impatiently, covered in monotone shades of gray and red.  Colorful Kakapo looks quite patient- excitement lingering behind her eyes as if waiting for a chance to come out.  Starless expression mimics Flamingo's so close that I supress a laugh at what Starless would think if he realized he looked like the RainWing.  There's an absolutely beautiful dragon with delightful cream-brown scales and butterfly wings.  I realize this must be a SilkWing; I'd never seen one in person before.  She looks somewhat bored, and her gaze keeps flicking over to a striking golden dragon with black speckles and twisted horns, who is trying his best not to stare back at her.  I've never seen a HiveWing, what I assume he must be, either.

The morning glory LeafWing is here too, and I mentally catalogue what I must've inherited from my LeafWing side as opposed to SeaWing.  A bejeweled icy black dragon with teardrop scales and a white patch of scales around her ankle.  A small NightWing also bearing the silver scales, bluish in color with his tail wrapped around himself.  A dragon who has some IceWing features but who must also be part SeaWing, as she has features such as gills I have but the morning glory dragon doesn't.  A large brown dragon with scarlet scales dotted all over, who sighs and the teacher shoots him a sharp look.  A shimmering white-pastel dragon who looks quite similar (though there are many differences) to the dream-dragon.  A shining red SkyWing, tapping his foot and rocking from side to side.

Tsuki, you should probably make the first line of our prophecy, since you made the RP...

We should first probably come up with a... theme, I guess? Like, The Dragonet Prophecy was about stopping the war.  The Jade Mountain Prophecy was about protecting everybody from Darkstalker.  The Lost Continent prophecy's about saving the LeafWings and SilkWings from Qeeen Wasp.

This one could be stopping a potential war between Pyrrhia and Pantala.

Oh! Since Ebony can foresee disastrous events, he could be the one to make the prophecy (even though we all help word it). How about that? since a war between continents would be a VERY disastrous event.
