Chatterbox: KYNGDOM™ Power of Hoof

*A Travel Guide to Northwest Kyngdom That is Totally Not Top Secret and Has Nothing to Do with Anything Important

So you want to take a trip to Northwest Kyngdom? Wonderful! Pack your bags, grow an extra layer of fur, and hop onto the Badger Express, the high-speed badger-drawn train that will carry you northward.

Travel tip: The Badger Express has a wonderful dining car that serves a creamy, piping-hot soup called Pinesüppe: root vegetables simmered for hours with pine needles and topped off with a rich drizzle of sap.

Once you disembark, take a moment to notice how your breath turns into an intricately-patterned fog in the air. There is a magic to northwest Kyngdom that no one can explain--almost everything here, no matter how dangerous, is aesthetically pleasing. Gaze at the fields of soft, untouched snow, the evergreens glimmering with icicles so elaborate that you would have sworn they were carved by artists, and the aurora borealis that dance through the sky like omens of a better life. This is the home of Regina, the Silver Reindeer, who is…just your average reindeer!

Travel tip: Pack light but warm! Bring lots of high-protein snacks--we recommend grubs! Regina is the guardian of Hoof!

Though Regina looks so noble so as to be unapproachable, she is actually very friendly, and loves showing newcomers around her land. She lives in a mansion (nobody said reindeer weren’t materialistic!) that she named Jökull, the Old Norse word for ice. It is a place of good cheer, where the super-sweet juice of the local Winter Black Cherry flows year-round (delicious over ice or warmed up!). Zephyra loves to spend her holidays here.

Travel tip: Examine Regina closely when she walks. Three of her feet are shod in beautiful mother-of-pearl horseshoes that glimmer when she walks, but the fourth bears only a rusty horseshoe. Look closely at that horseshoe. I think you know what it is. Don’t you?

Regina will warn you about the forest of blue juniper trees that look so appealing and smell like Christmas on a platter. This is the Decoy Forest, and its pull is strong. When you walk through it--which you should never do--you will see what you want to see. Lost loves will cry out to you from the trees. Your mother, as a teenager, may appear, begging you to be her friend. Ignore them all. Have another mug of Winter Black Cherry cider. Enjoy your stay.

Travel tip: The pull of the Decoy Forest? B.I.G. feels it, too. When Cornelia Hornshaw stares into the Forest, she sees an image of the Fourth Power. But she still doesn’t know where it’s located. She’s heading there now, though. Will anybody stop her?

"Okay, so we're finally here."

Jake and I have been traveling for days, from the city of Sailhaven to the meadows to the frozen north of Kyngdom. We came across the ruined remains of the Badger Express, and followed a trail to Jakull. Now we sit outside, discussing our plans.

"I hate this idea," says Jake, "I don't want you to get hurt."

"Jake, if we want to get in there and stop Catastrophe from getting the Powers, we have to start now. The final battle is beginning."

"But does the plan really have to start with getting yourself captured?"

The plan is for me to pretend to sneak into Jokull, and get captured by Catastrophe. I'll be equipped with Jake's spy equipment, so I'll break out of my cell in the night and free Ronan, and hopefully, my sister. This has to be where they're keeping her. Then, I'll contact Jake using a communication device disguised as a locket, telling him I've broken the others out. He'll get reinforcements, and together we should be able to take the boy king down. All I need to do is get inside.

"I have to do this."

Jake sighs.

"Fine."

We do one last check on the spy equipment, making sure everything works. Then I creep through the frozen tundra, making my way, slowly but surely, towards the fortress. I use a few spare wires to pick the lock at one of the many back doors, creeping through the halls as silently as I can manage. But soon (purposefully) I knock over a vase that has been set artfully on a table. The noise of the shatter draws many guards.

"Hey guys," I say, "I guess ya got me."

They hawl me away to a small room, strapping me down into a chair.  A door opens, and in walks the sworn enemy of the Resistance. Catastrophe.

"Well, well," He says, "shadow of everywhere. One of teh best resistance generals they have, former Angel of Death. You've given me a lot of trouble lately."

Oh, shadow (the charrie) doesn't know that Ronan was 'executed' a couple of days ago and escaped with Karune's help? I, uh, I kinda dropped a bomb of that ID on my thread a day or two ago.

She left the Resistance days ago, so she never heard. Besides, she really cares more about finding her sister and getting the Powers

Yeah... The Powers actually escaped, too, but not at the same time as Ronan, so all she's going to find is her sister. But I think maybe that'll be enough.

Alright.

MoonR hated to admit she still cared about Kyngdom. She hated to think of the peril she'd put her friends in. Besides, she was never even from this world, anyways. And, worst of all, she hated to think of the war she'd caused by an item- an item she wore, that had split Kyngdom. She didn't want to care anymore.

But the letter from a few days ago spoke of trouble. Star needed help. And help was the one thing she had never gotten herself- the one thing she so desperately needed.

Alright.

She thrust out her hand and the entrance of the cavern crumbled open. A few flakes of  snow drifted in, curling around her feet, and MoonR sighed. She had to help her firend- even if it meant betraying herself and putting her in danger. Besides, help was the one thing she could give.

A distant sound of marching feet snapped MoonR out of her thoughts. She glanced up and was confronted by a sight she never wanted to see-a dark line on the horizon.

Catastrophe's army had finally arrived.

She really had no choice now. It was either help her friend or get captured (which, by the way, was never going to happen) and she chose her moment carefully.

As soon as the army was in marching distance, MoonR flapped her wings open, yelled 'bye!' and swooped off into the sky to help her friend.

BTW, my CAPATCHA says zhyr. Zephyr-God of the West wind? Yes, a favorable wind would help.

Hey MoonR!

I haven't seen you make a post on the Kyngdom RP board. Not everyone knows it exists, so  I wanted to check in with you for it.

Alright, I'll 'check it out'

Thanks Icy! *Wink*

I'm setting up the camp, waiting for shadow to give me the signal. This could take a day, or it could take weeks. We came prepared. I'm setting up the tent, unrolling the cool fabric from it's stuffsack, when a small peice of paper falls out of my backpack.

It looks very official, not handwritten, but actually with a printing press. The paper is paper not animal hide or cloth that has been scrawled on, not a piece of bark into which a message has been carved. It reads:

Dear Jake,

You have been given a full scholarship, meaning all expenses paid for weapons, armour, housing, food, etc. for joining the Rising. I understand you have had problemns with the Resistance in the past and may have considered joining Catastrophe again, but the Rising would appreciate your skills more than Catastrophe would. We think you are a good soldier and scientist, and are being recognized for your talent.

Thank you for hearing this message, and please get back to the Rising ASAP

Again, thank you!

The Rising Neo-Council

Oh My Kyngdom. Someone wants to recruit me.

Of course, this has happened before. B.I.G, Catastrophe, the Resistance. But most of the time, it was just 'Oh, hey kid, you're brilliant, join us! We're good!' and then I nearly starved on the streets because they left me without food or housing or any way to defend myself from enemies. The Resistance was pretty good, but they led to me quitting. I guess that now that I and shadow are rogue, we should expect this.

I am tempted to scribble down an immediate YES! and send it off to them as a response, but what about shadow? Did she get the letter? If she didn't, I would be abandoning her in Jokull. I'm not sure I could do that.

So hastily, I scribble my reply, and then I fan down a bird who seems to be the local postman. She's a robin, beautiful, and she promises she'll get the letter to the Rising as fast as she can.

All I can do now is wait.

They attempted to interrogate me for hours. I don't think they gained much information about me. However, I think I learned something from them. Ronan already escaped, with the Powers in pursuit. I still have no idea the whereabouts of my sister. I think they're keeping her here, but I can't be sure. So I guess this will be more of a spy mission than a rescue mission. But that's okay. I'm pretty good at both.

I sit in the small room they're using as a cell for me. Joküll, being the home of a Power Guardian, was never meant to be a prison. I think this room used to be a guest bedroom. There's a small bed with a beautiful woolen blanket died hues of red and orange, and to the far end there's a small window, the shutters of which Catastrophe's men have barred. Most of the rest of the room has been stripped of all decorations: the packed dirt walls are plain, unfurnished, the closet vacant. There is no sidetable for the bed.

They took much of my belongings when they captured me, even the clothes I was wearing. They've since gave me new ones, a flouncy black dress and some undergarments. The dress is stunning, but not something I'd wear on a regular basis. I don't know what game Catastrophe's playing, but it's a rather odd one. His men didn't manage to take the locket, though. I shoved it inside my mouth as they were taking my things. Most of the other equipment is gone, though. I had a sheathed dagger done up in my hair that they didn't get either, which I've hidden in the space under a loose floorboard in the room. I wear the locket around my neck now, the chain hidden in the dress' neckline.

It's odd. The dress has holes cut into the back like most clothing I wear, but these aren't holes that have been slashed in the dress' back last minute. They were taylored perfectly this way. And the dress hugs my form beautifully, as though the designer had me in mind when they made it.

This is odd. Just odd.

What game am I playing here?

What are the unseen stakes?

(March 1, 2017 - 7:05 pm)

It has been many nights here at Joküll since I've been outside the room. They haven't come in, except to give me food. When they do give me the food, I assume they do it when I sleep or by the means of some magical charm, for I never see anyone deliver it. I originally tried to refuse the dress they've given me, by making clothes from the bedsheets, but this turned out to be very imoractical. I am not the best tailor, especially with nothing but bedsheets to work with, not even a needle or thread.

One morning, I woke up and paced the room. When this got boring, I scratched my initials into the wall with a dagger- my real ones, M.R.B., not s. Then I was about to draw a very inappropriate message towards Catastrophe on the door, when I put my hand on the handle-

And the door opened.

Had it been unlocked all this time? Or had a clumsy guard forgotten to close it completely the last time they checked on me?

I eased my body out of the door, The Suspicious Dress trailing behind me like an inky sea.

I must admit, Joküll is beautiful. The hallways are lit by the light falling through stained glass windows, which portray images of the Powers. Ancient artifacts rest in crevices in the walls, vases and weapons and armor most likely all from the time before humans existed and animals ruled the world. I walk through the halls, exploring the rooms. Almost all of the doors are unlocked, much like mine was. Many of the rooms are bedrooms, stripped of their furnishings much like mine. Some, however, are yet to be torn apart, and are still lovely. Paintings adorn the walls, with images of horrid battles and scenes of wilderness from all over Kyngdom. There are some more modern touches as well, photographs placed above mantelpieces, portraying pictures of long-forgotten animals and people alike. There's a camera in one of the rooms, and another is filled entirely with tech. I guess that Catastrophe will be using this room as a sort of base.

Then, I find myself in a large ballroom, or maybe a banquet hall. There's a long table set at the far end of the room. I stroll towards it, admiring the miraculous feast that's been prepared. All of the food has been made for humans. There are no animal dishes.

Having had nothing but prison food for the last few days, my stomachs growls at the sight of the feast. Quickly, before I even check to see if anything is poisoned, I grab a handful of fruit and shove it into my mouth, snarfing it down hungrily. Then, I snatch up some of the other snacks. Roast beef, warm chile, apples, mangos. Food from all over Kyngdom is lain out here.

YES

PRAISE CLAAWS

THE SUSPICIOUS DRESS  IS THE OFFICIAL NAME

im dying of laughter XD

MoonR crouched behind a juniper tree, surveying the mansion that once held a Power as their owner. She surveyed the building, checking windows, pillars, slabs-anything that might give her a clue of how to get in.

You could just walk through the door, a voice in her head replied.

Worst idea MoonR ever came up with.

Obviously the door would be guarded, that was out of the question. No doubt guards would come running as soon as she touched the handle.

So that left two options: scale the sides or make a distraction.

She grinned, giving her trademark orange wink to start the flow of magic through her body.

MoonR summoned a fireball, watching it crackle and sputter in her hand.

Half-dragons do twice the damage, she thought grimly, and lobbed the fireball straight at the front entrance.

Perfect shot. The flame arced over her head for a second, then smashed the door into splinters, leaving a large gaping hole in the brickwork.

From behind her tree, MoonR saw shadowy forms racing toward the explosion.

She flared open her ice-blue wings and ran for the building just as the guards reached the door.

MoonR thrust them out and flew straight onto the side wall, hugging the crbling stone. She pried open a shutter window and was relieved to see that she had judged the distance just right-the tech room lay just within her reach. She grabbed a laptop and some microchips and lobbed another fireball through the room.

Eat melted battery acid, catastrophe. Hope you like all your hardware crushed into bits.

She grinned and continued on her mission.

She was not given this job, nor was she forced to, but she liked the idea of catastrophe waking up to his base destroyed by one person all on their own.

MoonR visited a few other rooms, leaving a scroll here and there as she went. They were written in red ink and contained a few lines of prose she had hastily written down to disorient his army:

His army goes across the land

With marching feet and iron hands

But against all odds the Powers still stand

For they themselves will bring to light

What is the truth and what is truly right

Catastrophe has not a chance

For the animals will take a stance

And we will fight all through the night

And in the end

With all our might

And the bravery of Icy

The kindness of Ronan

The justice of Shadow

The determination of Star

The perseverance of Trillion

The integrity of Alex

The patience of Sprocket

Will bend us

And mend us

And help us

To destroy YOU

Mission accomplished, MoonR spread her wings once more and flew off into the night sky.

Oh!

Thanks Alex, really had no idea who was who :p

I'll make a better version now lol

This is the poem I come up with in five minutes, so forgive me if I messed stuff up

Thought it would be cool if we all (everyone who hates the King Of Stupid great name though I approve) start, like, scrawling this everywhere and freak him out.

It would be cool to have like a 'Power anthem' in a way, that's what I was going for. Thanks!

Im also bravery, nice to meet an identical soul

But thank you in all sincerity for correcting my poem

Oh, and also MoonR does not work for anyone, she just likes destroying stuff

And yes, she got away with technology stolen from his 'tech room'
