Kyngdom Survival Guide

Chatterbox: KYNGDOM™ RP Board

 My mot

My mother was destroyed by the Brayzen Inquiry Guild. My father was chased away by them. And my brother... Something much worse happened to him. We all used to live in a village in the mountains of Northern Kyngdom, close enough to the city that my parents could ride there on horsback every day for work, but far enough that I could see the stars in the nighttime I don't live there anymore. The eight-year-old girl from the village... she's gone. She dissapeared when I became an orphan, five years ago. That was when I sold the cabin in the mountains and left the village of the humans forever. I took nothing with me but the clothes I wore, the pack on my back, and my horse, Diana. I travelled to places they didn't teach about in the schools provided by BIG. I travelled along brown forest roads, through dryest deserts, and across the prairie lands. I am still wandering.

Our species name is the Dolor Felis. And I was in a group until I was kidnapped by B.I.G. I don't know anything in my past life.

My device rings.

"Have you located him?" I ask gruffly.

"Yes," they respond. "He is currentley in Northern Kyngdom."

"Good," I say, shifting the device between my cheek and shoulder, while preparing the gun. "Where?"

"In the town of Northsole," they reply. "The Taft Tavern."

I slip the darts in and shift the device to the other side. "I'm on my way."

'Excellent," they say. "make it quick, we don't wnat a commotion."

"Understood," I reply.

It was softly raining, and I slipped on the cobblestone a couple of times. I look at the town's sign.

Welcome

To

Northsole

I didn't feel very welcome. I had a cloak on, and the hood became wet. The drops of water slipped off the hood and fell onto my nose. All I could hear was the pit-pat of the rain. I uncomfortably adjusted my weapon within the folds of my cloak. I have done this many times. Why do I feel ad now? The discription of the boy I was sent after is fine, I don't care. But the next person bothered me. The boy with the big ears, or Fox Boy, was at one point in contact with one who goes by Shadow- the description was too real. I felt like I had seen (him or her? sorry) before. And I don't take a liking to killing who I might have once been friends with. So I hoped that Shadow wouldn't be at the Tavern.

I opened the door to the Tavern, and it creaked. When I entered, the smell of food and a fresh hearth welcomed me. I walked up to a man in the front, my boots padding along the soft wood floor. The man at the counter looked at me. He could only see half of my my face, and my ears were poking up. It was obvious I was a cat.

He laughed so loud that it caused everybody to look up from what they were doing. "Aw, is little kitty lost?"

Everyone chortled. I didn't find it funny.

"Just please get me a table," I whispered.

He smirked. "Little kitty needs to get lost. This isn't the joint for her. You understand?" he looked at me mockingly.

I wanted to pull the gun out and show him who needs to get lost, but then I remembered what they said. No commotions. So I used the only other weapon I had.

I pulled back my hood.

The gasps in the room were embarassing and rude. But if it made them take me seriously, that's all that mattered. The man at the counter stared at me with fear.

"Table 8 is open. It is by the hearth," he squeaked.

I nodded and paced over to the fireplace, taking my seat. The tavern was still quiet, but with one icy glare towards everyone, it became loud again. Louder than usual. I put my paw on the table and scrathced at the wood. Baykwood Tree. If worst came to worse, the blood could be washed off without leaving a stain.

The door creaked open again, and my head looked up, my cloud of thoughts dispersed. It was Shadow.

He (or she) scanned the room as if looking for somebody. His (or hers) eyes landed on me. I winced, instantley regretting it. That was an easy sign of unexpectedness or weakness. But he kept on scanning. He pointed at me to the man, and they conversed shortly. Shadow walked over, and sat down across the table from me.

"So what are you doing here?" he asks.

I think I look guilty, because he says, "Then don't do it tonight."

I stare at him. "What do you mean?" I ask.

He looks at me like Really? "I can see the shape of the dart gun in your cloak."

I gulped. I was caught.

Did Mina think I was stupid? I saw the gun beneath the long cloak she wore.

"Why do you want me? At least, if that is a dart gun. If not, then I only have one question: Who sent you to kill me, Mina?"

She looked soooooooo guity.

"I---- I--- um...."

'Mina, I wish to remind you of only one thing. You cannot kill a shadow"

I picked up my bag from the table, and on my way out the door, I turned around.

"I'm a girl, duh!" I screamed. I don't know why I had done it. Maybe it was when I saw her eyes fall on me with question. Maybe it was the dart gun. Maybe it was simply the fact that yet another person is  hunting me.  But whatever it was, I snapped. Now everyone had turned to to look at us. Even the bartender, the one who never stared, was gawking at us.

I turned around, and left.

I must be honest with you, I-

AHHHHHHHH

I ran after Shadow. I needed to tell her I didn't want to kill her. I wasn't supposed to.

"Shadow!" I yell as I see her figure in the village. It is dark, but the moon outlines a preson running.

She stops as I run up to her.

"Look," I begin. "I'm not supposed to kill you."

She glares at me. "How do I know?"

I can't believe what I was about to tell her. I had been trained for years to lie and have no emotions. But there was an odd sense of trust, even though I barely knew her, and I had to tell her.

"I was meant to kill the fox-boy that you were talking with at one point," I said. "I was expecting a contact to tell me his exact location but you showed up and got mad at me and misunderstood me."

She looked at me and paused before saying, "It's not right to kill people anyway."

I regained my chracter, and said bluntly, "It's my job."

"I know, but still...." Shadow said. "You aren't even a good guy."

"You don't have to be a good guy to murder bad people," I said.

"But you definentley aren't a good guy for murdering good people!" she shouted.

"FINE!" I screamed. "BUT I HAD TO GO SOMEWHERE WHEN EVERYTHING WAS TAKEN FROM ME!"

"YOU THINK I DON'T KNOW?!" she bellowed. "MY FAMILY IS GONE! MY FRIENDS ARE GONE! EVERYTHING I KNEW, EVERTHING I ACHIEVED, MY REAL HOME! THEY ARE ALL GONE!"

I turned around briskly. "Well I don't care. For all you know, I could've killed them."

But instead of pouncing on me or yelling some more, she came up to me and put her hand on my shoulder. "What happened to you?"

I turned to face her.

"I- I don't know, okay?!" I responded, feeling flushed.

"If you come join me, I can help you find out," she said.

"I don't know," I replied. "People are expecting me to fulfill my job, and...well, I still have to kill fox boy."

"We'll worry about that when we get there," she responded. "Come on."

"Where?" I asked.

She looked ahead. "We're going to East Kyngdom."

Mina and I travelled for days. She doesn't have a horse (I'm not even really sure she can ride solo), so she sat on the flank of the horse behind me, holding on to me so tight I sometimes felt like I couldn't breathe. we travelled until we got to another tavern, this one run by animals, in the middle of the woods of East Kyngdom. We entered, and sat down at a table. After we ordered, I looked at Mina.

"so, what's the game plan?" I asked.

"well..." said Mina, "I still plan on infultrating BIG. Just... not the way foxy wanted us to."

I grinned. I was pretty sure I knew what she meant.

"okay," she continued, "now I only have one question for you."

"yes?"

"Do you still have that ticket to the Ball?"

"Yes, I do," Shadow replied, as she took it out of her sack and waved it in the air.

"Good," I responded.

"Anyway, so what is it with you and horses," she joked, trying to lighten the mood.

"Well," I sighed. "When I was where I was when I became," I pointed to my face and leg. "This, they experimented on every type of animal. But one of the worst was the horses they created," I continued. "They-They made the horses carnivores, and other horrible monster features."

Shadow hesitated. "And they weren't the worst?" she asked.

I sighed again. "No, unfortunantley not."

Shadow, Mina, I need to talk to you about something important.

I am the leader of an army that wishes to destroy BIG. And FAFA. And anyone who opposes me. I have a plan to make Kyngdom mine, and if you join my army, you can survive that plan. Anyone who doesn't join my army will die, so I want to know your decison soon.

After my conversation about horses with Mina, I decided to not ask her about her past. Instead, as we walk along the dirt forest path I talk about my own past. Yes, she knows a little about me already, but I decide to share with her something I have never before shared with anyone else. My thought that I am not entirely human.

Her eyes widen. "So you'resaying you might be an experiment too?"

"After what BIG did to my brother, who knows,"

The subject drops. I look at the sky and see that the sun has nearly set.

"I think we should make camp here for the night," I say.

She nods and starts to set up the small one person tent she has. I gather wood for a fire, and by nightfall we have a raging bonfire. Mina and I roast a small animal she killed over the fire, and we are having a good time. I see Mina's large ears perk up, detecting some unknown sound, but say nothing of it. She does this often. I've gotten used to it in the days I've been traveling with her. But then Diana winnies. I go check on her, since I know how Mina feels about horses.

"What is it girl?" I say. Then I look more closely at her and I know why.

An arrow is embedded deep in Diana's flank.

We are being ambushed.

I hear a loud thump and rush back to the campsite. Mina lies on the ground, unconscious. Then I feel a sharp pain in my thigh. I look down, and see that a small dart has struck it. I can do nothing more as the world fades to black.

~*~

The world is bleary as I wake up, but I can see and feel enough to know that I am in a small cage. Next to me, in another cage, is Mina. She's still asleep.

"Mina!" I scream as I shake her. Finally, to my relief, she wakes up.

"Mina!" I say again, and hug her through the bars.

"shadow?! shadow, where are we?" she asks, looking at me with half-open eyes.

I take a better look at my surroundings, and even though the room is dark, I know exactly where we are.

"BIG," I mutter under my breath.

Mina barely has the time to say what? before a door opens and the lights are flicked on. Before me stands a boy, about a year older than myself, wearing a white labcoat. An intern I assume. He holds a silver clipboard, so shiny I can see my reflection in it, and pen in his hands. A woman dressed simalur stands beside him, holding a large needle.

The boy says something to her that I can just barely make out.

"Is she the Angel?" he whispers, amazed.

"Is that what you kids are calling her? Yes Jared, this is ' the Angel'. She has been injected with the serum since she was in the womb, and the results are miraculous. All we need to do is inject her one last time to complete her metamorphasis. When we're done, she will be the perfect combination of human, animal, and power. She may even have some yet unknown abilities."

Oh no. They're talking about expirimenting, and I'm pretty sure they don't mean to do it to Mina. I remember our conversation about the horses, and I can't help but wonder if something simular could be happening to me. I see my reflection in the clipboard of the intern one last time before the woman stabs me with the needle, and the world goes dark.

~*~

I wake up to see Mina staring at me. My back hurts like heck, I feel like I just battled Claaws and lost.

"What are you staring at?" I manage to say before the door to the room is opened, and the lights are yet again flicked on. This time, both the woman and the intern are carrying clipboards, except this time both of them are scrippling on them furiously. I don't understand what all the fuss is about until I see my reflection in the shiny clipboards. Then I understand. I understand why Mina was staring, why the intern called me angel. Why they are now writing so quick. My reflection looks exactly the same as it did before I passed out, except for one thing.

Protruding from my back

are wings.

submitted by shadow, age 13, why do I still try?
(September 14, 2016 - 4:57 pm)

Shadow's wings scare me.

"Are they really that bad?" she asks pitifully.

"No, not at all," I reply with a big smile. I don't think she's convinced.

The scientists turn to me. The talk quietly, but I can still hear what they are saying. "She's not one of ours."

I gasp, and Shadow turns to me.

"What happened?" she whispers.

I can only look at her wide-eyed.

The scientists walk over to me.

"Can you talk?" the scientist asks.

"Of course I can!" I snap.

The intern looks at me. "Where are you from?"

"I don't know," I say bluntly.

"You'll have to come with us," the intern says.

"Why?" I ask fearfully.

The scientists look at each other. "To run some tests," the intern replies.

"NO!" Shadow screams.

The intern takes me out. I kick him, scratch him, and bite him as hard as I can.

The scientist takes a shot out and embeds it in my fur.

"NO! STOP!" Shadow wails.

I feel dizzy and dazed.

"SHADOW DON'T LET THEM TAKE ME!" I scream.
I start to wobble.

"MINA!" Shadow cries. "MINA NO! COME BACK!"

Everything goes dark, as I feel myself falling into the intern's arms. The last thing I hear is Shadow screaming and more people rushing into the room.

Me, working with Icy the human scum. Whod've thought, eh? And then sending me into the B.I.G plains laboratory. Whod've thought? Attempting this by myself is crazy. But I have to do it.

I find a vent and slice through it with my claws. I'm tough for an Artic Fox. It's my pride. And I'm just small enough to fit in the vent. I crawl through. I have to find the prisoners.

But one thing. Icy said that Shadow was a human. Why would B.I.G harm a human? They normally only hurt animals, because they think we're brainless and primitive. But humans? Never.

There must be more going on than meets the eye.

I know that no one can hear me anymore, but still I scream. Finally, I tire myself out and decide to study my wings. I don't quite understand what creeped Mina out so much. To me, they are beautiful. Than again, Mina has horrible memories of anything to do with experiments, so they would probably freak her out no matter what. They are a creamy white, with speckles of white brown. But no matter how I try, I can't forget the look on Mina's face as thy dragged her out of the room. A piece of my  wavey dark hair falls in my face, and I remember what the woman said as they tranquilized Mina.

'she's not one of ours'

what does all this mean?
