Kyngdom Survival Guide

Chatterbox: KYNGDOM™ RP Board

 My mot

My mother was destroyed by the Brayzen Inquiry Guild. My father was chased away by them. And my brother... Something much worse happened to him. We all used to live in a village in the mountains of Northern Kyngdom, close enough to the city that my parents could ride there on horsback every day for work, but far enough that I could see the stars in the nighttime I don't live there anymore. The eight-year-old girl from the village... she's gone. She dissapeared when I became an orphan, five years ago. That was when I sold the cabin in the mountains and left the village of the humans forever. I took nothing with me but the clothes I wore, the pack on my back, and my horse, Diana. I travelled to places they didn't teach about in the schools provided by BIG. I travelled along brown forest roads, through dryest deserts, and across the prairie lands. I am still wandering.

Alexander,

That's fine, and we can reach an agreenment. I honestly don't know what I am anymore, but hopefully we can find someone who can restore my full memory.

After Mina's...... Incident, they decide not to give me the potion. I try to argue, but they object.
"We're not taking any more chances," says the Aslahari native, who I think is named Sienna.
"Fine," I grumble. I'd actually started to get used to my wings (they have their perks!) but I haven't gotten used to the stares brought on by them. And the shouts and insults. In the woods they're few and far between, but in Aslahari and other less diverse areas of Kyngdom, the taunts are more common. People either think I'm an angel or a demon, and neither are very realistic.

I feel better, but Mina and Icy still think I should take the next few days off.
"It's for your own good," says Icy. "We can't expect you to fight Catastrophe in this condition."
They leave the palace room we've been given to stay in, closing the door behind them. Sienna's probably going to show them around the town or something. Once I can no longer hear their voices, I get out of bed. I pull on some native Aslahari clothes I found earlier and tie my hair up into a long braid. I tuck my wings into a large jacket and admire myself in the full-length mirror on the wall. I'm a stranger.
I throw open the shutters covering the window, and carefully climb down. Once I reach the ground, I walk briskly past the palace entrance just as it opens and see Icy, Mina and Sienna walk out, talking.
"I hope shadow's feeling better soon. This place is so beautiful!" I hear Icy say. Their eyes pass right over me, not noticing me at all. I try not to laugh. This was to easy. Did they really think I was going to listen to them?

I walk through the city streets, and for once no one stares at me. I feel happy, free. I'm out from under the magnifying glass. As I walk, I realize I've already been through this part of Aslahari before. All the buildings are made of shimmery crystal or glass, and they shine every color of the rainbow. I want to see something different. I walk down an alley, and slowely the scenery starts to change. The glass buildings give way to ones made of mud bricks and stones, and I see a completely different side of Aslahari. What did Sienna say? There are Flames and Sparks? Well, I saw where the Flames lived. I think I'm seeing where the sparks live. I walk through a miraculous open-air market, where people are selling more things than I could name in a lifetime. I could spend forever here. After admiring multiple booths, I find myself in front of one selling weoponry. Swords, daggers, bows, arrows, whips. You name it, thye got it, in multiple styles, colors, and varying stages of enchantment. As my eyes look over the assortment of killing tools, there's something that cathes my eye: A ornate bow, engraved with multiple symbols in a language I can barely understand. Next to it I see a matching quiver full of different colored arrows.

"How much are these?" I ask to the man selling them. He shrugs.

"I normally don't sell to people like-" he looks me up and down in disgust, "you. But, I would happily take some of that armor you're wearing."

I pull my hands away from the bow and look at my beautiful armor. Raven gave it to me. I don't really want to just go and give it to some stranger. But I need weopons for the battle ahead. I sigh.

"Will a gauntlet do?" I say, taking it off my left hand and setting it on the table.

"Deal!" he says, snatching it up with greedy hands and pushing the ornate weoponry towards me. "Take it!"

I grab the bow and quiver before he changes his mind. I look at the sun's position in the sky, the only way of telling time here. It's noon.

Noon.

Icy and Mina were supposed to be coming back to the palace now! I take off the cloak that Icy gave to me, and the crowd gasps at my exposed wings. I make sure the bow and quiver are tightly secured on my back. And I fly towards the palace.

Shadow's not here.

All of a sudden, I hear cluttering at one of the windows as she soars through and crashes amongst dishes and a table.

She stands up and brushes herself off and looks at us guiltily.

"Heh, I just took a walk in the park."

"Bad idea," Icy snaps. "The scions are extending to Sienna's house now. We need to stay inside. You can't just leave any time you want!"

"Yes," Sienna says. "But she is safe in this part of town. Octavia is only occupying us, not killing or capturing us."

"But it's still dangerous!" Icy exclaims.

"I'm sure Shadow can handle herself!" Sienna says, flustered.

While they argue, I motion for Shadow to follow me. We walk to my room and I close the door. I flump on my bed, sitting up while Shadow takes a seat beside me.

"What did you get?" I ask, my eyes lighting up.

Shadow gulps. "What do you mean?"

"I saw you in pass us," I reply. "I just didn't say anything, because I didn't want to get you into trouble. If I was in your position, I would want to take a walk and stretch my legs," I say, then looking to her back. "Or wings, too!"

She laughs lightly. "Well, I'm glad you get it then." She then pulls out a beautiful bow and arrow from her sack. "Look at this."

She gently places the bow and arrow on the bed, and she draws back so I can see it. It looks amazing. I look at the writing carved onto the bow.

"So," I say, looking down at the bow. "Looks as though it was made by the people of the forest kingdom of Foredion. It says here that 'whoever holds this bow will find good use of it in times of war and peace. But once you use it in one war, the bow won't be the same again.' Huh," I say. I look up at Shadow. "I can help you to train with the bow and arrow, since I had training on all weapons in Catastrophe's army, if," I say, pausing, "you help me with something else."

"Thanks, and what do you want me to help you with?" she asks.

"Controlling my shape-shifting," I respond. "If I even think that much about an animal, I'll turn into one. That can be a weakness, so I need to learn how to control and only shape-shift when i want to or I need to."

Shadow nods, smiling. "You've got yourself a deal."

"Listen, Icy, Mina, here's the battle plan. While the troops and I battle Catastrophe and whatever wackadoos he's got with him, you and Mina find the power and get it to a secure location. Be quick, consistent, and don't get caught." I look them in their eyes. "Okay?"
Icy nods, but Mina looks unhappy.
"Why can't I be on the front lines?"
"You need to defend Icy if Octavia or any other cronies of Catastrophe try to kidnap her. She's our Power detector, and you won't find another like her in your lifetime." I say, but I don't tell her the whole truth. I don't want her going back to join Catastrophe. Someone close to me and Icy must have told him we were in Aslahari, and I don't think it was Sienna.

I groan and walk off with Icy.

"Where is it?" I sigh.

Icy looks around. "This way," she says, motioning to follow her.

We turn down a few alleys, when we hear voices coming straight for us.

Icy looks at me in shock. She mouths, What are we going to do

The voices come closer. "Uh, umm...." I stutter. "Oh!"

I quickly think, Dog. Dog. I'm a dog.

I feel my body morph and touch the ground. Icy takes off her scarf and ties one end to my neck, holding the other. Icy does something weird with her hair, so it chanegs colors. The voices finally reach us. They are a couple of people from Catastophe's army.

"What are you doing in the streets?" one of them asks gruffly. "You're supposed to be inside."

I do what would make me seem real, and I bark. I bark more, like a loyal dog to it's master, trying to protect her. Icy goes along with it, and appears to be trying to hold me back. I stop barking.

"I-I," Icy stutters in a higher voice. "My dog," she says, looking down at me. "Was getting restless in the house, and I didn't want her wrecking things."

"What's your name, pipsqueak?" another person asks rudly.

"Anwen," she automatically replies. "And this is my dog, Leva."

A pang of sadness and anger rushes through me like a fire and then calms down.

"Anwen," the person mutters. He stands up straight and looks at her. "Haven't heard of you."

"I haven't heard of you," she replies cooly. "You're not a citizen of Aslahari. I am. Now, all I want to do is walk my dog. No trouble. So please, just let me through."

The people look at each other. The man looks at Icy. He shrugs. "Okay. But get back to your house soon."

She nods and walks briskly off. Once we are out of their sight and in another alley, she looks back and then crouches down to look at me.

"Maybe we should keep things this way," she tells me.

I nod. "That would work. Any specific dog you want me to be?"

She smiles. "Um, let's see.... could you be a wolf mix breed?"

I think about it and feel myself grow a little taller, and more muscular. "Is this good?"

She laughs lightly. "Yes."

We continue along, and we go through a few more places and alleys. We finally arrive.

"Where is it?" I ask.

"I-I don't know," Icy replies. "Let's look around."

And we begin our search.

I race through the swarms of soldiers, cluthing a bow and arrow in
my hand. I realize this is the first real war I've ever been in. It's
not like the wars one reads about in story books, where everyone is
organized and the two sides are clearly defined by uniforms. This is
messy. People are stabbing each other, jabbing at each other, willy
nilly, not really caring whose side their on as long as someone gets hurt. The color of blood stains everything.

I run past a female soldier and a mouse engaged in combat. The mouse
has the upper hand, scurrying through the girl's shirt sleeve to her
neck and biting.  The girl shrieks, and tries to swat at the mouse, but
he dissapears. I pass a boy, Poe Allen, trying to reach the center of
the battle field as I am. Really, that's where everyone wants to go.

To Catastrophe.

Don't worry, Aslahari. Reinforcements are coming, so you just don't lose and then we can help.

It's hard to get to the center of a battlefield. And harder to fight someone there. Who am I fighting and why am I here? The answer is simple.

Catastrophe.

His blue eyes glint as he dogdes my arrows, more and more gleeful with
each one. He even laughs once or twice, causing me to try harder. I am
running out of arrows. I reach into the quiver on my back, and feel only
one or two left.

I panic, and he obviously sees it on my face.

"Why not just give in?" He says, grinning.

"And why do you think I would ever do that?"

"Maybe I'd spare your friends. This city. Maybe I'd even help you find your brother."

I pause for a moment, considering.

"How do you know about my brother?" I ask. My grip loosens on my bow.

"I have my ways," He responds, smiling his charming smile, "What do you say?"

"And you would stop killing all these people, if I just gave in?"

He
nods. I reach into my quiver for another arrow. It's empty. And I
freeze in the middle of a battle field. What if I just gave in?

Catastrophe leaves for a moment, and I get a chance to see Mina and Icy. Mina slips away, but Icy and I talk for a moment.

"Where's the Power?" I ask,

"Mina pulled me away before we could get it," she grumbles,

"Where's Mina going?" I ask

Icy shrugs. "She probably went to join the rest of the battle,"

She leaves to battle a cyborg boy. Catastrophe returns.

"I think I found someone who could change your mind."

I roll my eyes. Like anything could change my opinion.

"Hello shadow," Says Mina. And she wears a red sash. The sash of a general in Catastrophe's army.

"Mina?!"

"It's not Mina. It's Ravage, actually. Nice to meet you,"

"I thought you had decided to change, to come back and rejoin the side you believed in!"

"I was telling the truth. It just wasn't about your cause. I meant mine."

"That's
right," says Catastrophe, "And," he holds a gun to Mina's forhead,
"I'll kill her if you don't surrender yourself, this town, and the Power
within it to me,"

I stare at Catastrohe, Mina, and the gun held to her forhead.

"Tick tock," he says.

"Fine."

The
word escapes my lips before I can stop it. Mina may be a traitor, but
she was brainwashed. And I can't watch any more innocent souls die.

"Wonderful,"
says Catastrophe, releasing Mina from his clutches, "Go round up the
villagers. Find a place to keep them. The palace would be nice. I
understand the ballroom doors lock. "And you," he says, pointing to me,
"You don't go forgetting you're promise. Hands behind your back."

Reluctantly, I put my hands behind my back and feel the cuffs encase my wrists. I try to pry them off, but I can't.

"We
heard you had super-strength. The cuffs are made out of rose-glass, one
of the strogest materials in Kyngdom. You won't be getting out of those
anytime soon."

I sigh. This is going to be a long day.
