Chatterbox: KYNGDOM™

*Kyngdom Q+A

*Kyngdom Q+A

Welcome, Chatterboxers, to the new Kyngdom board! You'll notice a few things have changed. We hope these changes will make it easier for both longtime and new users to participate in the story.

First, we've asked Dr. Sheepshank from Cypher Labs to comb through all the threads and put together a summary and history of the Kyngdom story so far. You’ll see that in the "Story So Far." He'll continue adding to it as the story grows.

Second, we've reduced the number of active threads. The only active threads will be the ones you see on the main page. These threads (many of which are inspired by your ideas!) will help us keep the story organized.

Third, to keep the story manageable, you will no longer be able to start your own new threads on the main page. A smaller number of threads will be easier for everyone to digest, and it will be more obvious where the action is happening, and what the action is. You can still create role-play (RP) threads on the Kyngdom RP Board

Don’t worry! Your old threads are not gone. You can still read them in the Kyngdom Archive, but you will no longer be able to comment on them.

We hope you like the changes. If you have any suggestions for new threads, new groups you want to form, or general questions for us, feel free to comment below.

We've had an exciting few months building and growing Kyngdom. We love all the ideas you are bringing to this adventure. Have fun, and happy writing!

Hey Admins. I know it's a lot of pressure for you when all of us keep on making demands, while you act as the messenger for the editors. However, I had an ongoing thread that a couple people were just beginning to respond to when the Editors cut it off. I never expected anybody to respond, much less help the thread keep its position on the first page of Kyngdom. Now that people can't post on it, and we can't make new threads, how am I/the others supposed to continue our story? (For Example, Neminem, who was writing on my thread and was waiting for Moonshadow's answer. How Will Moonshadow respond without a form of communication?) As the others on this Q&A said, It was really great to post writing in a community of like-minded people, and for them to read it. Though this is just my opinion, I believe that limiting the amount of threads to this extent will lessen the creative charm of Kyngdom. Please take this into consideration.

-Feryl Duell

The editors will be reviewing all these comments and may have suggestions for you. Stay tuned. . . .

@ Neminem, I read your comment in the archives on Feryl's thread. I will be posting more of my story soon.

@ Feryl, thank you so much for letting me know!

Hi, Feryl! We liked your thread--you might've noticed we linked to it in the Story So Far post. There's a strong possibility your story would fit into an existing thread. For example, there will be a new thread for Moonshadow and Info chan's Army of Rebels, and Moonshadow was commenting on your thread. Maybe Feryl fits in their Army thread? Or maybe you can have your character approach the Gryphon, or audition for the Bog & Burrow (coming soon).

And you can always suggest new threads here. HINT: We want threads that are related to the Story So Far (backstories count) and that might be interesting to a wide range of Kyngdom writers, even people new to the board.

If all else fails, you can still start your own new creative writing threads in the Inkwell!

Dear Admins,

I'm sorry for badgering you on the changes. I'm glad to hear that its less laggy than yesterday. Maybe we can work something out on how to keep things organised and be able to post our own threads at the same time!

Hey Admins, did you know theres over 200 people who have played this game?

I knew there were a lot of names, but I didn't take the time to count them. Thanks for telling us!

Editors, can you dedicate a whole Cricket issue to Kyngdom, so we can fit everyone's stories about everything that is going on in Kyngdom? With higher levels of spelling and grammar, of course. It's a great way to advertise Kyngdom, and that way, all of us will be published! Please?

I'll pass the suggestion on to the editors.

When the Power of Wing flute was played, was it any specific tune? If so, can I compose it? I'll take a picture of the sheet music and post it somewhere here.

We're waiting to hear from an editor about the answer to this one, Lucy.

I like the Idea of reducing the number of active threads, but I have a couple requests:

1- Please keep the beginners ones, (like the "Shall we start?" thread) open. As a new, member, I like the Idea of being able to show how my character fits into the story!

2- Please make more BIG threads! I know their headquarters was in ruins because of the Gryphon, but what happens to them next? Will they also search for the power of claw? Or will they start looking for other powers? Do the spies all leave? Or do some of them stay?

Hey, Margaret! Thanks for the great idea--we will definitely start more B.I.G. threads, starting with a general thread for B.I.G. employees in the Groups section. You're asking the right questions, we do believe.

Maybe you can say more about what you mean by "beginners ones"? We did leave "Who's here" open. But "Shall we start" had branched off into three or four different stories, and it was pretty overwhelming. We tried to summarize its story in the Story So Far thread, and we linked to many of the pages in that thread.

If that thread contains important parts of your character's backstory, feel free to copy+paste them onto an active thread--of course, make sure they're relevant to that thread. For example, if you work for B.I.G., you might post your story on their Groups thread.

Hello Admins! I love you guys and I know you only want to keep things under control, but I'm going to let off some steam in my (and my character's) very blunt, exasperated way. (There have been tons of comments but I felt the need to add my own overreacting two cents.)

OK, first off, seriously? Is Kyngdom not for creating a complex, fantabulously chaotic world? I, and many other dedicated authors, wrote and kept up with the increasingly confusing stories, and so did the other lovely people who joined in pretty late. And then the entire "Shall we start?" thread is gone overnight, not to mention all the independent characters' threads?

I love all the characters in Kyngdom, no matter how weird, over-powered, or annoying, because there is a person and at least a little bit of imagination behind all of them. Every single one of them! And we were given the freedom to make our stories as confusing as we wanted, or at least that's the impression I got, because the whole thing revolved around our stories, our characters, and what we had to say. Those threads, especially "Shall we start?", were a big web of stories/backstories/inner monologuing/monster fighting/drama/awesomeness, and they held a well of effort from so many people. OK, maybe I'm selfish, but I don't want to only write about encounters with gryphons or ideas for backstories, and I don't want to re-read events that have already had consequences.

Sue me, I want a story.

We hear you, Tani, and we understand how this change could be frustrating. Keep in mind that the Kyngdom forum, like the Kyngdom story, is a work in progress, and we're always listening to your suggestions.

We love Kyngdom's complexities and chaos! We've been thrilled to see all your contributions over the past few months. And *of course* we are not opposed to stories. Stories are what Kyngdom and Cricket are all about.

"Shall we start" contained several great stories, and that's why it HEAVILY influenced our "Story So Far" post and the direction of the Kyngdom story in general. Unfortunately, that thread was long and confusing, and we think it kept some new users away. And "Shall we start" isn't gone, by the way--it's locked and archived, but it's not gone. Kyngdom writers both new and old can still read it and use the active threads to build on it.

That leads us to our main point: we really believe your story/stories will fit into the active threads. For example, the story you, Trill, Seth, Laria, and others were telling would be a great addition to the B.I.G. thread in Groups, which is coming in the next day or so.

And if you can't find a place for your story in any of the active threads, please post your new thread ideas here. We can't wait to read them!

Maybe there could be threads for animals, for BIG, and for Icy, Moonshadow, and Info Chan. That would be good, because then the story could continue in the ways that we want!

We'll be adding a few new threads in the next day or so, mostly in the Groups section. Keep an eye out! Thank you for everything you've contributed :)
