Art Contest Round

Chatterbox: Pudding's Place

Art Contest Round

Art Contest Round 3!

I know, Round 2 hasn't completely finished. But some of the contests are already over, so I thought, why not make another one?

The categories:

Drawing (With color)

Sketch

Painting

Modeling

Repertoire (Something made long ago)

Paper cutting/Orgami

So it's first come, first serve for whoever wants to judge. The judge decides if there's going to be a category, if there's going to be a deadline, if you can enter more than one entry, et cetera.

Also, I think you can post videos, as long as there are no people in it, so we might be able to add another category, Music. You could just cover up the camera while you sing/play.

Admin, can we post videos with sound, as long as there are no people in it?

Also, fill out this form:

Name:

Categories I want to judge:

Categories I want to enter:

And here is mine:

Name: It varies.

Categories I want to judge: Repertoire

Categories I want to enter: Paper cutting/ Origami, Music if Admin allows, Sketch, Drawing if I have time, and Modeling if I have time.

Chatterbox does not post videos at the present time. Only still pictures. Sorry.

Here's my description. You don't need to read it, it's just for fun. Bold parts (except for titles) are notes that I've added.

[From pages 47-48 of The Field Guide to Leovian Plants and Animals]

SYMIEN

A Symien, or One who guards in Leovian, is the guardian of a rukah (see pg. 48). They have the appearance of winged cats and are about 3' in length, excluding their abnormally long tails. Their wings have a wingspan of about 10' and can be a wide spectrum of color, but are usually a rainbow shared between the wings. Their fur is most often white, but can also be russet, beige, brown, gray, or even black. They have a colorful swirling pattern on their fur and very long limbs. Symiens have tufted tails and very sharp claws made of crystal.

Symiens are born in any location of Leovie save for the Barrens, but spend their lives in the Crystal Caverns to guard their rukahs.

At birth, a Symien, having no rukah, soars into the sky on the Night of Lunar (it's the event depicted in my entry for Drawing in the previous round) and beams of light spread from the moon to guide it to its rukah. Once it reaches its rukah, it rarely leaves. It has a strong sense of purpose to guard the rukah with its life. However, it has one moon cycle in its life to leave its cave and mate. But it must return.

RUKAH

The rukah, or Genie Tree in Leovian, begins its life as a small seed from the Fenti Peaks. The seed is blown on the Devil Winds, over the border, and to the Crystal Caverns. The journey is essential to the seed's germination, and the rukah could not grow without the journey. This is why rukahs cannot be domesticated. The seed plants itself into the ground, spreading pure crystals of varying colors from its spot, but it's very vulnerable to predators such as the Tychian. Usually as soon as it has burrowed, a Symien is summoned to it.

The rukah earned its name from its berries. It is said that if one focuses on one's deepest wish while eating a berry from a rukah, said wish will come true. Creatures have been known to become greedy at the prospect that all their wishes will be granted, but that's where the Symien falls in. The Symien's job is to protect rukahs from predators and keep creatures from misusing the berries.

The average rukah grows to be 20' in height and 4' in diameter at its trunk. The tree has golden bark, silver and copper leaves, and black or misty purple berries. The trunk twists gently, but not unnoticeably. When it has reached full growth, it develops one large knothole where its Symien makes its nest. When the rukah dies (and they do indeed die, although their lifespans are far above the average tree) it bears one sapling. The Symien in turn guards that sapling after the sapling's parent.

I hope you enjoyed the field guide! -Scylla

Here's my entry for modeling. It's a dragon I made in pottery class, and it took me about a month to complete. I started it somewhere in the beginning of March. Sorry, my camera isn't that great, and the glaze causes an unfortunate glare. I might post some better pictures later today.
