Chatterbox: Pudding's Place

Regular poetry thread

Regular poetry thread (because I'm tired of not editing my poems)

This is exactly what it sounds like! A thread to post poetry. I'm excited to read all of your work!

Lumi, this is beautiful!! There's so much feeling, and it tells a story in such a graceful way. I love the way you interspersed the italics, it makes the poem flow so nicely. I really loved it!

Mnnnn, this is so sad in a good way... It feels like something out of a more realistic movie.

I'm glad you were able to gain some confidence in your poetry! I'm not exactly great at articulating it and leaving comments, but I've read a lot of your poems before and they really are amazing!

First, this poem is wonderful! I love the way the emotion shows so clearly in the words, and the story is told so well. I really like the lines, "I don't want to break your heart / because I can't / without breaking mine". They capture this whole dilemma quite easily. I haven't been in a situation like this, but I can tell you've captured it well.

Second, if I'm being honest, I didn't think this would be you! Of the poems I've seen you post on the poetry contest, they've always been super good! Like the one with a girl during WW2 and a girl during Covid talking to each other across a century... I really love that one :). Your poems are fantabulous, and I'm so glad I was able to give you what you needed to remember those things! So basically... Stay awesome :)

Tranquility

A pool unsplashed

By any pebble

A cat

Lying down in the sun

Peaceful

Quiet

Sleepy

It comes

And goes

And never stays for long

Ooh, I love the way you create such a perfect atmosphere in just a few words, Star Princess! That's really cool, and in my opinion, difficult to do. It's just so crisp and concise, though! >w<

Paradise?

~~~~~~~~~~
Drift away
Even as they talk,
Run away
To a place where you belong;
Fly away
From all the complicated
And shifting colours,
Slip away
Into the pouring rain;
To your very own
paradise...
And now you're gone.
That Streetlight
~~~~~~~~~~

That streetlight

Stark straight in the dark

Light piercing right through the night

Boring as can be;

If you ignore its history.

If you ignore the blood

Spilled beneath its spot

If you ignore the frozen

Cold and shivering in snow

before sweaty summer hot

Nights filled with who-knows-what

And silence and people living lives;

Of ice and thoughts and tear-stained

teens carrying knives;

But of course streetlights can't talk

And all the nice and not-so-nice stories

About change and differences

And how some things always stay the same,

That streetlight's not there anymore,

For that, and all those lost memories

Who's the one to blame?

Ahhh sorry I haven't been on this thread for a while! Jaybells, this is so wonderful and haunting and mysterious all at the same time. It's so amazing how you can take something as regular as a streetlight and turn it into a twisted sort of storyteller~

Empty

Empty words,

Empty smiles,

Empty gift-bearing hands;

Hollow hearts,

Hollow "loves",

Hollow diamond wedding bands;

So many jealous eyes

Of what turns out to be plain empty lies,

Who would've thought

This would be the outcome of that dream,

Long forsought.

Those

Three

Little

Dots

Right in the middle of your sentence

Those

Three

Little

Dots

Niggling at my sanity

There's no space after them-

There's a lowercase after them-

There should be a space,

then uppercase right after them-

Says my hyper-active brain;

What do they MEAN-

WHAT ARE THEY SUPPOSED TO MEAN?

Says my now-screeching brain;

What bad things

Will happen?

What horrid news

Do you have

to break?

For

in response to my question, you say:

"Yes...okay."

Why those

Three

Little

Dots

Oh lord, just why, oh

Why those

Three

Little

Dots

When you could just simply say:

"Yes, okay."

Something a lot like this actually happened to me! The way someone phrased a text left a lot of wondering and confusion in its wake... I can totally relate! (Also, I have a hyper-grammar-correcter part of my brain too; seems like we have a lot in common! :))

Ghosts

Are just figments

Of grief-stricken minds

That haunt

The ones still living

And poison their hearts

They eat

Away at the survivors'

Sanity, seeding paranoia there

Like that ring

On my finger that's not actually there

But its memory still stains my days,

I could swear

I can still feel it there

Hugging my finger;

But it's not

It's all over

It's all been over

For a very, very long time.

Yes, it's over.

But the ghost of that ring

On my finger

Still haunts me

To this day.

Funny

How littlest actions

Can make the brightest futures

How the smallest mishaps in Fate's weaving

Can make the biggest differences

Funny

How the tiniest mistake

Was the biggest mistake of my life
