Reawakened RP

Reawakened RP
Once, long ago, the world was awake.
We lived in harmony with magic, and it in turn lived inside of us. We flourished together in a partnership that was so interwoven that it became difficult to tell the person apart from the flame that was part of their being.
That time, however, is long gone.
We have abused the power that was freely given us, and now we live in a cold world, reigned by men in iron towers who hold our world in their iron grip. Magic is nothing but a memory, a story whispered when we think nobody’s listening.
But what if I told you that we can bring it back?
Hello everyone! I’m Autumn Leaves, a former cber who hasn’t been on in forever because life got very…… lifey! (And by that I mean busy) Anyways, my mom actually gave me the month off of English to do creative writing which seemed like a dream come true until I suddenly couldn’t seem to write anymore. So I decided that I’d use my English time to start an RP!
All that aside, here’s the premise.
Our characters are living in a world called Aeros that used to be teeming with magic. It was deeply engrained in the culture, the people, and the society. However, it wasn’t long until people came along who wanted to misuse it. They found ways to manipulate it to do their bidding but didn’t realize what the consequences would be until it was too late. On a day that would later be known as the vanishing, magic completely disappeared.
Now, the world is a place of steel and iron and technology beyond anything that those early people could have dreamed of. But it is cold. People are told exactly how to act, how to think, how to live. Nobody says outright that you have to follow the rulebook, but those who don’t tend to mysteriously disappear. There also may or may not be hidden cameras. Depending on who you ask.
Your characters have begun to hear whispers that there have been sightings of magic for the first time in centuries. They have heard that there have even been a few who have been able to channel tiny bits of magic.
Who knows? Perhaps one of your characters will be among the lucky few who show a proficiency for magic.
Ok, so I haven’t done an RP in like forever, so I'm going to do my very best to do this right. I haven’t done a lot of world building yet, but basically, Aeros is this super oppressed, super futuristic society, and you can feel free to worldbuild as you go :)
Here’s the charrie sheet
Name:
Gender:
Age:
A little personality*:
Appearance:
Position**:
Other:
*I always had trouble with this because it’s hard to fit a character in a few sentences when you haven’t even met him/her yet. So you can be as vague or as detailed as you want.
**Job, basically. You can choose something that's necessary for the survival of a civilization, (Engineer, scientist, ect) Or have fun with it and make something up.
Ok, hope that wasn’t too much information for ya! (I tend to do that :P) Have fun!

I So, I mentioned Silver's sister in past post, but I figured that she wouldn't be Kestrel b/c she is supposedly still in the Outside. So maybe Silver and Kestrel were part of a colony of Wild Ones that got split up after Aerosian soldiers/guards whatever came after them, trying to wipe out their magic, and then they meet up later and remember each other??? I'm not sure, whatever you think. I kind of stuck her vaguely in the post, so if you like it, we can stick with the story that Silver thinks she died in the raid, but SHE DIDN'T REALLY!!! Drama!!!

Silver~

Everyone knows what the bells mean, and in no time, the rest of the prisoners are shrugging off the coats they slept under and milling towards the water bucket at the edge of the room.

"Oy, Zet, crack the ice for us!" My friend Acmite calls from behind me, gesturing to the thick sheet of ice frozen over the water. Zet smiles shyly and looks around the room. He has a rare brand of magic, but no one here holds it against him. If only the rest of the world was so welcoming. Zet holds out one hand over the bucket. The metal edges crinkle with a loud snapping noise, and the ice begins to shiver. Suddenly, a crack forms, followed by another, and another, until the ice splinters into floating chunks.

Everyone cheers, even though they see the same trick just about every morning.

"When are you going to show us what tricks you've got up your sleeve?" Acmite comes up behind me with a smile, shoving my playfully as he speaks.

"I've told you, I don't have magic," I retort.

"Whatever you say, Wolf," he replies, disbelief written out in his wide smile.

Of course, it was Acmite who first started calling me Wolf when they brought me in 6 months ago. He even managed to convince the rest of the outcasts that I was half wolf, half human; a creature fused from magic. Everyone assumed he was joking, but Acmite was closer to the truth than even he realized.

While the rest of the outcasts gather around the water bowl, splashing their faces, and, in Acmite's case, flicking water at each other, I hang back, staring out the window as the sun rises over a frozen earth, submerged in an icy grey sky.

Sometimes it's hard to imagine that I'd ever lived under a different sky.

"The outer colonies have been attacked. I don't know if we can stay here. Tell your sister. Both of you need to pack your things and be ready to leave at a moments notice." Mother's eyes were wide, her lips shivering with a trembling fear that she tried hard to mask.

"What about Father? He hasn't come back from his hunting trip yet. We can't leave without Father!" Seeing my fear, Mother put on a brave face.

"I shouldn't have made you worry. Of course we won't leave without Father. We probably won't have to leave at all. Raiders has ever bothered with us before."

But it wasn't raiders that came in the night, and no matter how we prepared, no matter what news of distant attacks steeled us up for what was coming, no one was truly ready.

It began with a thunderous roar of an Aerosian jet, and then the low, crackling lick of fire, and then the screams...

"Kestrel, hold on, hold on, I'm coming!"

"No! Just get out of here. Okay? Husko, GET OUT, the roof's on fire!"

"I'm almost there."

"You'll never make it, okay? Get out through the window and run for the lake."

"No!"

"Run...the...lake! Hurry!"

"Kestrel!"

"Whatsa matter, Wolf? Having trouble waking up?" Icy water crashes over my head, trickling down my neck and soaking the collar of my thick, dust-colored coat.

"Acmite! For Sel's sake!" I spit out the water that ran into my mouth and rub my face with my sleeve.

"Oh, so you're swearing now. Knew that would work!"

I shiver, chills racing through me that have nothing to do with the water trickling down my silver-tipped hair. Kaolin's screams echo through my mind.

"Just...cut it out, okay?" Acmite may be a joker, but even he knows where to stop.

"Is something wrong?" He questions, as a loud clang comes from the door as it is unlocked from the outside.

"No, just... thinking about stuff." The outsiders shuffle forward when the door opens, Acmite and I falling into place at the end of the line.

"Your family?" He pries.

"Do you ever think about yours?" I turn the question to him instead. He shrugs, a stray chestnut-brown curl falling loose to dangle over his forhead.

"Never knew 'em. But what about yours?" He presses, "I know you have one, because you told me about your sister. What was her name? Kaolin? And you keep saying someone's name in your sleep."

"No I don't!"

"Yes you do! One time you yelled and woke half of us up. So, who's Kestrel?"

So... I had a stroke of brilliance. It's just a suggestion, but what if the Aerosian peeps wiped Kestrel's memories of Silver, but they didn't get Silver, and then when they meet, Kestrel starts getting flashbacks or whatever and remembers Silver? You know, like those cool moments where the person sorrrta blacks out but not really and remembers huge parts of their past?

I just thought it could be kind of a cool thing since Aeros is so futuristic and I've heard of people's memories being wiped and stuff in dystopian synopsises. (synopsi??? Grrr. Fiddly spelling is the worst...)

That'd be really cool! Plus the fact that Silver thinks she's dead would mean he wouldn't have looked for her or anything.

I don't know why I chose his sister's name to start with a K too. Now I've got them all confused. Kaolin, Silver's sister is alive (and so is Kestrel, but he doesn't know it).

that would totally work! Except one thing— since I’m in an outsider organization that’s working against the government, that would mean that I’d have to have been broken out at some point. Maybe the raid thing happened when I was really young? We could change our ages a bit so that I’d be like 3 or 4 years younger than you. I’d like to still be 14 or so still now. And then the organization that I am in now would’ve broken me out, but not until after I had been stuck with the memory wiping thing. That would explain why I joined and stuff, as well as my changingof appearance when I go inside Aeros to spy, etc.

Okay, that sounds good. Or maybe no one caught you, thinking you were dead, but you survived and spent the rest of your life searching for revenge and joined up with the organization?

hey all! SO SORRY I haven’t been on to post in like forever. We pretty much just got home from Florida, and I really wanted to use that time to relax and be with family. I do, however, have a week of freedom left before school starts again, so hopefully I should be able to get a post or two in. Once again, sorry I haven’t been here to keep things up to speed, and please let’s try to keep this thing alive! Thanks so much you guys. You’re the best :)

GUYS!! I’m really really sad right now. I had started a post but couldn’t finish it, so I sent it to myself. But now its GONE!!! AGH! I spent forever on it. Shoot. Do you think Autumn, that we could just pick up to where they meet? After Sirus escapes?

Yes, totally! We can gather a few more people together, but I think then we should have something major happen so we can get this plot moving again. Maybe like Kestrel suggested something big that drives people out of the city. Maybe some sort of sudden and unexpected raid on the part of the government that nobody saw coming? Like, something that unites the resistance and begins a war for real. In the meantime, I think we could have some of our charries maybe journey beyond the outside looking for a way to restore the magic. Like maybe there's a source somewhere that they have to find. Some people could stay behind to fight the government, too.

Just suggestions! You guys let me know if you think that would be ok so we can get this thing back on its feet :)

Sooo...in my last post, Fox was taken by Orion and interrogated. But I'm not really sure where to go from here. Anyone can be the agent that was questioning him if you want, or we could always just forget that happened and have Fox do something else. I'm just not sure how he should meet up with the other charries. Ideas, anyone?

I thought I'd just write a quick post that can be picked up by Tux without her needing to modify anything that she's written so far. At the time I'm writing this it's kinda late and I only gave myself 15 minutes, so this is bound to be pretty short :p

Wren~

What was I thinking.

I pull my coat tighter around my shoulders and try to ignore the cold that is biting into my skin with its ferocious teeth, digging its fangs into every inch of exposed skin that it can find. I glance over at Ember. She's just as miserable as me. I whisper to her through chattering teeth. "Th-they didn't really p-prepare us for th-this in training, d-did they." Ember gives a shaky laugh. "Not r-really."

Our only light source is the moons, which concerns me. We're walking on the line between the mountains and the Outside, and we can really only afford to travel by night because of how easy it is to be spotted. I'm just banking on the chance that we can make it to the mines before the moonlight is inevitably obscured by clouds.

In the meantime, though, the experience speaks to me in a strange tongue that has always seemed just out of reach. Freedom. Orion is a good cause, and I support what they strive for wholeheartedly, but we spend the majority of our time underground. Enclosed. Out here..... out here it's like I'm teetering on the brink of something. Balancing on the rift that separates us from the expanse. That mysterious something.

And I feel like it's calling me.

I force myself to ignore it. Now is not the time.

Right now, I have a job to do.

The sky above the mountains exchanges the darkness of the night for the gentle shades of greyish-blue that signal the start of a new day. Ember and I find a cave to rest in until nightfall. We don't talk much. Exhaustion makes for poor conversation, so there's not really a point in even trying.

We take turns taking watch. The sun falls. We pick ourselves up and continue walking. Walking in the relative dark is surprisingly exhausting, and I find myself struggling to find energy just to force myself to put one foot in front of the other.

As we walk, I feel the strange pull that has been tugging on me intensify. It's something that I find incapable of describing, something that calls at me, tugs at every cell in my body. Something that is loudest when I'm nearest to the wideness of the red plane of rock that stretches out to my left. I tried explaining it to Ember once. She just subtly inched away from me and said something about us both being tired.

Around the fourth day, our food starts to run out, and our holotracker tells us that we're nearing our destination. Orion training didn't prepare us for anything like this, this slow but steady wearing down of energy. These long distances. Ember and I can still keep going, but we're exhausted.

Near the middle of our walk, the light dims, throwing our surroundings into even deeper shadow. I glance up at the sky, and my face is met by a pinprick of cold. Snow. Ember groans. "Just what we needed." I reach my freezing fingers into my bag and pull out the tracker. "It says we're close. Maybe we should wait until tomorrow night to keep going. We can barely see anything right now." Ember reaches over to take the tracker. "No, we should keep going. By tomorrow night there will be snow on the ground and it'll be a lot harder to travel." I tug the tracker back to myself. "But by that point, we'll be so close that they could find-"

An unfamiliar voice hisses through the darkness, causing both Ember and I to freeze in place. "Will you two keep it down, please? You're not the only ones trying to avoid government notice, you know."

Ember and I freeze, totally caught off guard. I slip my hand into my pocket, wrapping my fingers around my staff. In a quiet voice, I whisper "Who are you." The stranger's voice comes from in front of us, and I'm suddenly struck by the feeling that I've heard it before. "I don't want trouble. Just let me go on my way."

Why is his voice so strangely familiar.....

I flip the holotracker around, shining its dim light in the direction of the voice.

And am met by a pair of deep green eyes.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Haha, so that one time where I said I was only going to write for fifteen minutes..... *like an hour later* Anyways, sorry that was so bad. It's late and I feel kind of delirious, but I really really wanted to at least get to the end of that. Tux, my idea was that however you decided to have Sirus escape, this is maybe the moment when they bump into each other. And if you had it written out a different way then that's totally ok and we can change it to how you had it :) Basically, the whole point of that was that they traveled some and eventually met up with Sirus in some way or another XD
Oh, also, Leeli. Maybe to get this moving we can go ahead and initiate that government raid. Like, Orion goes into red alert, the base is raided, that sort of thing. You can maybe have Fox stay behind and fight with some other agents, or you can have him find a way to join the others to go find the source of the magic. If we do decide to do that, we can also have government agents start to scour the Outside looking for our characters to sort of up the risk factor and get this thing moving again :)
Luna says "figd". Yes, I know, it is really frigid for the south. Like..... seriously though.
*Ha. Stinks to be you. I get to be cozy in the warmth of the CB. With warm bacon.*
No comment Luna. You lucky wolf.
