Spontaneous RP!

Spontaneous RP!

Sometimes I feel like we get so caught up in the developement and rules of a RP that it dies before we even make it very far (I know that's happened to me...Combat Cliff RPG, Griffinfeather RPG the first...and more).

So, let's just do some writing.

two rules.

1. Put forth your absolute best. Even if it's not going to be published or maybe no one else but me will read it. It's good for your writing. Trust me.

2. Make sure everything lines up! Mostly!! Inserting random flying unicorns is okay, but killing a character off and then making them reappear might be a little confusing.

If you are still confuzzled, check out this thread to see what I mean:

http://www.cricketmagkids.com/chatterbox/inkwell/node/65463

just make up a character and join the story. You can be a character I've mentioned or somebody new. My characters are Pheonix and Carlena.

Without further ado, let us begin.

~

"Carlena scratched at the wall's smooth surface, her heart pounding so loud she could hardly think. The dark rectangle seemed to close in around her, pressing in on all sides; squeezing her lungs flat and yanking away all the oxygen. The air was hot and sizzling with frusteration and fear. Throwing herself against the wall, Carlena melted onto the floor. She was stuck. Enclosed in a horrible crystal box while her own dear sister, Caroll, was set on destroying Jewel Academy. All she could do was sit here, helpless and terrified out of her wits, while Caroll did away with everything she worked towards. Carlena tried to take a calming breath and found she could not breath. The walls were closing in...her eyes whirled crazily around the shadows; searching for an exit. If Cassey doesn't get the children out of the academy in time, they'll all... Carlena let out a frusterated gasp of despiration. Oh come on, Carlena! You can't let a little claustrophobia defeat you, girl! She said to herself. The spunky Galaxy Witch sat up slowly and brushed back the gigantic bush of chalk-white, ankle length hair from her damp forehead. Carlena then—"

"Pheonix! Jaihra's on the phone!" My older sister called from downstairs.

"COMING!" I yelled back, dropping The Charming Adventures of Carlena the Galaxy Witch to the floor. Galexia looks up at me in surprise from her nest of pillows on the floor, her eyes clouded, obviously still deep inside the story.

"But...that's not fair! Nixie!" My little sister moans, "What happens to Carlena? What happens to the seven sisters and the academy?"

"You're just going to have to find out next time!" I say with a wink. Galexia shakes her head furiously, sending her fluffy brown pigtails into a frenzy,

"It's not fair that I don't get to see what happens next because you wanna go talk to your giiiiirlfriend," she says angrily. On the last word, an evil smile begins to curl on her lips. I stop half-way to the door.

"Jaihra is NOT my girlfriend. And we have very important things to talk about," I retort hotly before rushing out of Galexia's frilly, pink bedroom and down the stairs, taking the story book with me. The wood steps creak under my feet as I race down, nearly slipping on the last one.

"Yeah, Jaihra, he's coming," I hear my 21-year-old sister, Andromeda, say, Rounding the corner, I can see her leaning against the counter in a red tank top and shorts, her long brown hair in a messy braid over one shoulder. She has my phone tucked between her hear and shoulder while she casually flips through pages of her sketchbook, twirling a bright blue pencil with her free hand.

"I'm here!" I yell breathlessly in her face.

"Took you long enough," she says, rolling her eyes and handing over the phone, "go take your chatting upstairs. You two 'll talk my ears off. Upstairs!" She commands, pointing her pencil.

"Hi Jaihra!" I greet into the phone.

"Hi Pheonix! Ummm...are you alone??" She asks cautiously, "I have an update on...you know...project Milky Way Sorceress and...uh...the Precious Stone School," she hints not-so-subtly.

"Yeah, just a sec," I answer, dashing back upstairs to my room and bouncing onto my bed.

"Okay! Shoot!" I exclaim, tossing down the story book beside me. It flips open to the title page; which is covered with words I'm glad Galexia can't read yet.

For my nephew, Pheonix. I hope you enjoy my charming adventures!!! Please keep in mind that these are all absolutely true and my heroism was not exagerated in the least. Hope that you can soon join me in Jewel Academy! Once you set out on your journey to find it, that is.

Your Aunt Carlena, the spunky Galaxy Witch

P.S. do not show this to anyone or I may have to incenerate them.

I let the book cover slide closed. Yeah, Galaxia, we do have important things to talk about.

Hmm. Perhaps its a glitch. The post is still not showing up, but no matter, since it was on long enough for everyone to see it. Anyways, if anyone is worried, I'm not leaving the RP! I may have jumped to conclusions on or perhaps missed interpreting something, and slightly panicked. Sorry about that. Anyways, onward! For Narnia and the North!

Phoenix~

As Galexia disappears among the rows of sparkles and ruffles inside the wardrobe, I climb up to the window seat myself and look out over fairyland. Multicolored lights dance across the palace courtyard and surrounding buildings.

Galexia's words about Andromeda continue to spin around in my mind. The overwhelming guilt I've been trying to push to the back of my mind drops like a heavy cloud over me. What if I had gone back? Would Andromeda be with us right now, caught up in the excitement of magic and fairies and all this craziness? Or would we both be captured and taken away?

Oh please let her be all right.

Tough, sassy Andromeda. She can sweet talk her way into anything and fight her way out of anything. But Galexia and I know her as a loving older sister and artist. In the years since Mom disappeared, she saw her job as the woman of the household laid out for her and stepped up to it with fierce enthusiasm. The house was always sparkling clean (minus my room), everyone did their homework on time, and supper was always on the table ready on long days when Dad came home late from work. She even fought for me to start junior pod-ship training a year earlier then most kids began, even though I quickly got kicked out soon after. Recently, she even gave up art school for Galexia and I. And more than all of that, she's my sister.

And now she's gone; I don't know where.

I can't go back to Earth, and I certainly can't stay in fairyland when there are still so many questions that need answering. The only place to go is Jewel Academy. Maybe it's too much to ask that the Galaxy Witches might have the answers. But it's all I have to hope for now.

Climbing down from the window seat, I walk over to my backpack and rifle through it. Extra clothes...my toothbrush...a granola bar...and, oh yes, my Byte. Since you can't get Earth cell phone service outside of our home planet, Bytes are ideal for space travel. Although it would be really cool if I could get a fairy phone like Saphira's. I'm sure it does all kinds of things regular phones couldn't do...

focus, Phoenix, Says a voice that sounds suspiciously like Jai's in my head. I turn on the Byte and flip through the files until I see the package Jaihra sent me. Taking a deep breath, I click on the first half of the Jewel Academy map and am met with...

A swirl of curly lines, strange symbols, and nonsensical words. I try to make sense of the words, searching for familiar star systems and planets, but I've never heard of any of them. Kuzqua, Eguia, Inklie, Thime, Faraqua... none of these make any sense! They don't even sound like real star systems! Then a blot near the corner catches my eye: Laei. I'm sure I've seen that word beforebut where? In a history textbook or something? If only I actually paid attention in class instead of thinking about new trading cards. I try to picture the word in my head. Laei. Laei. Laei. That's a lot of vowels. Are you allowed to have more then one or two vowels smushed together like that? Isn't there some sort of law against that?

A knock on the door startles me out of my thoughts. Jumping up, I hurry to throw the door open.

It's Dathan, the person who's ship I crashed. I wonder if he has any more ships? That'd be cool. It was really fun to crash, aside from it being slightly terrifying.

"Hey, can I ask you a question?" He asks. I pull him into the room. He talks about Jewel Academy, him being fired, and stuff like that. I wish he would talk about whether or not he had any more ships for me to blow up. I'm just getting him back to the point when Galexia spins from the closet wearing the most sparkliest, twirliest thing I've ever seen. I'm not one for sparkles, but to me, Galexia looks more like a truly beautiful fairy princes then all the other royalty in this palace.

"Soo...what were you going to ask me?" I question Dathan. He's really got me curious now.

"Well, I know Jewel Academy is for magic people," he starts.

"Yup." Where on earth is he going with this? Maybe more ships to explode?

Then he asks if he can come with us.

What? Wait a second. I hadn't really paid attention to Dathan before. He just blended in as part of the team.

"How old are you?" I ask suddenly.

"Ummm, just turned 17," he complies with a whaaaaat are you doing look.

"Well, I don't know if we're going to make it to Jewel Academy, although after seeing all this" I gesture around, "I'm pretty sure it's real. Also, I know my aunts are crazy. Even the ones that aren't evil are crazy. Trust me, I read a book," I state. Me reading a book is like a big rainbow sign waving "PHOENIX IS REALLY INTERESTED IN THIS AND DID A TON OF RESEARCH."

"Also, you probably won't be allowed in. Probably. But probably neither will Jai. Err, Jaihra. Sorry.  But we do need someone who is older to go with us. In case we go to like, a sketchy space market or another planet. Stand up taller," I command, and he does.

"Okay, you look enough like a legal adult. You are now our legal adult!" I exclaim, jumping back to twirl Galexia around. She laughs, her dress floating and poofing as she turns.

"Oookay," Dathan says, and leaves.

Saphira~~~

"You can go to the ball, might be useful to have some gaurds around just in case the were-mice come back." I say.

Lennon thanks me and races. I sigh, seeing my mom march over to me with glaring.

"You forgot your tiara." She snaps, handing it to me.

"Thanks Mom." I say.

I put the tiarta on and go mingle with the other guests.

Lennon races toward me as the ball is about to begin.

"Where were you, Len? I have been looking for you for the past ten minutes!"

"I'm sorry, Winnie. I was talking to Saphira about something that involves you."

"Well?"

"Saphira said me and you could go to the ball. She said it might be handy if.. um, was it were mice?"

"Oh yeah." I say, remembering the starnge rodent attack. "But why did she choose us?" I wondered.

"I sort of... requested it. I really want to go to the ball.....with you. So will you go with me?" He asked nervously.

"I thought you'd never ask!"

@ Rose bud I was thinking, Pheonix could wear something classy, like what I'm writing him in, If you don't mind...  He could wear simple jeans, a white shirt, the sleeves rolled up to the elbows, with a orange vest over it. With the vest is a simple orange tie. He has fire-like feathers braided into his hair behind his left ear. In the vest pocket is a simple lily. Not too fancy, but classy :P.

Raja

~~

I stride in and instantly feel the gazes of many fairies on me. There are whispers. Whats a Dsacel doing here? As well as Probably come to flaunt their riches. I grit my teeth, tail swisjing behind me as I make my way to Saphira. She is in a lovely long, deep blue dress with muted sparkles, and very fitting white, gloves and high heels. I grin at her and say, " The tiara suits you, your Noble Inviolableness." I say, jokingly to her she scowls. I hear squealing from behind and jovial laughter from behind me.

Noble Inviolableness! Raja, how do you do it?" I turn and see a beaming Pheonix in simple jeans, a white shirt, the sleeves rolled up to the elbows, with a orange vest over it. With the vest is a simple orange tie. He has fire-like feathers braided into his hair behind his left ear. In the vest pocket is a simple lily.

" I see you went for the classic look, Pheonix. It suits you." I say, indicating to his outfit.

" And, you went for a nature theme, why so?" He questions.

" Yes, you took the words right out of my mouth." Saphira comments.

" Nature for green magic." I say, shurgging. They looked supprised. " I know, I don't seem like the person to have green magic, my guess was that you thought purple right."

"Yep." They say in unison. Galexia runs up and smiles at me, then runs to theonix ,tuggs his hand ahd he's off. Wishing us farwell on his way out, being dragged by his little sister.

" He's a nice kid,"  I say to Saphira as we watch him and Galexia depart into  the crowd. Saphira gives e a knowing look and I turn to her. " What?"

" You-"

Don't you even star-"

" Liiiiiiiiike hiiiiim~" She teases, elbowing me.

" ...This is payback for making fun of you for your title, isn't it?" Her only response was a cheeky grin and an adviser coming to bug her. I politely took my leave to raid the buffet table.

Hi sorry my motivation and soul is falling apart right now so lets just assume Sam had a say in what was happening sorry I haven't been posting

So everyone's at the ball, right?

~Sam

I walk in unsurely, wearing a white collared shirt with long sleeves and a black suit vest with black dress pants and shoes.  My chin-length black hair is tied back in a tiny ponytail behind me.  I'm also wearing a bowtie, hence the collared shirt.  I wonder if anyone will mistake my gender.  Probably.

I see Raja, along with Jaihra, Phoenix and Galaxia all talking together.  They all look so confident!  I wonder if they're worried about their siblings or parents.  I don't know if I should talk to them, I don't know them as well as they know each other.

I look around and see many other people dressed elegantly.  I wander a bit, avoiding anyone who seems unfriendly and smiling at people who do.  I try to focus on the ball and what's happening at the moment, but I can't shake the feeling that something's wrong with my family back at home.  I never thought I'd miss being trapped in the chaos of my household, but I guess I do.

Somehow, I find myself in the center, and I feel like I'm suffocating.  I squeeze my way out of the center, muttering an "excuse me" or "sorry" every few seconds until I'm safely out and near the edge of the room.  I lean against the wall, breathing shakily.  I'll be okay.  I just need a minute.

Phoenix~

Galexia pushes me in the closet as soon as Dathan leaves.

Glittery sequins and ruffles brush against my face.

"Gahh! I hate glitter! Galexia, seriously, I'm just wearing this to the—"

"No!" She cuts me off, "you look like you just got out of an exploded airship," she says sensibly.

"I know, I'm going for the casual, test-pilot-who-just-had-his-last-brush-with-danger look," I explain.

"Just look in the very back of the closet, Nixie, that's where I found my perfect dress," suggests my very sparkly little sister. I push away a piece of fabric colored the absolute grossest hue of purple ever and find myself facing the back of the gigantic closet. Hanging in front of a huge mirror is the perfect outfit, and without a single ruffle or particle of glitter. A white shirt paired with an orange vest and the type of nice jeans that all the cool kids back home on Earth wear. I always dug my jeans from the dollar bin at the back of that loud, crazy, artsy store Andromeda likes without a second thought.

It's almost as if the closet chose the perfect outfit for me... or is that just something fairy closets do? All my closet does is mysteriously accumulate junk. It's practically magic.

"Look behind the mirror!" Says Galexia, her voice so hyped up with excitement it leaps into the octaves of squeak. As soon as she says this, I notice the silver handle on the mirror and yank it open to reveal the sweetest dressing room ever. A cream-colored bench seat fills one corner, and another, smaller, mirror hangs on the wall next to a counter. On the counter lie two orange and yellow feathers. Snatching the outfit, I quickly change and then model the new look for Galexia. Before we can walk out of the closet, she spots the feathers in the little dressing room and runs to pick them up.

"Wait! They're for your hair!" She exclaims. So then I have to sit down while Galexia messes with my hair. See, Galexia loves my hair. The style in my area is for boys to have it cut really, really short, but she always liked it just long enough for her to run her fingers through. She used to tie in  tiny ponytails and ribbons when we were kids (shhhhh don't you dare tell a soul). Somehow, she managed to fit two tiny braids into it, and attached the feathers onto them.

Walking out of the closet, I feel ready to take on the world.

And maybe any food that will be in there.

But I'm definitely not prepared for the sparkles or, stars forbid, dancing.

The door across mine opens, and out comes an almost unrecognizable Raja, dressed in a deep, mossy green.

I'll post more later to catch up! It's getting kind of late over here. I've currently gotten into watching When Calls the Heart at night, and now I'm really into it.

Ooh, this is exciting! Jaihra + Phoenix + Raja = LOVE TRIANGLE! ;P

~ Galexia ~

I bounce into the wardrobe and look around. I push through all the layers of material to the very back, where I see two outfits hanging. My jaw drops open as I take in the lavender-hued dress on the left. It's made out of a soft, silky material that flows over me like water, but shiny, sparkly and beautiful. Simply beautiful. A long train flows behind it, like the ones brides wear when they get married. There's a ribbon around the waist. Excited, I rush forward and snatch up the dress. Behind it, I see more accessories. A sprig of violets and orchids send a sweet aroma into the air. A wreath of flowers wound around living branches has pink ribbons trailing back behind it. I yank out my pigtails and put the rubber bands in my pocket, then put the wreath on my head. There's also a silver charm bracelet with a purple jewel--probably an amethyst--dangling off of it and pretty, white sandals with straps that wrap around my ankles. I pile it all into my arms, then spot a metal handle in the mirror in front of me. I open it and step into the prettiest changing room I have ever seen. I rush in, plop down on a cream-colored bench, and quickly change into my new dress. When I'm done, I stand up and twirl around. The dress billows out around me like the wind has caught it. I stop, and it falls limp again. Giggling with joy, I rush out to show Phoenix my new outfit.

~~~ At the Ball ~~~
I skip into the grand ballroom then stop right in my tracks. The room is full of fairies, flying or walking around. One pushes past me, then flies away, laughing about something. I take a step back and search for Nixie. I turn around, and I see him talking with Saphira, Jaihra, and Raja. Relieved, I run over to him and tug on his sleeve. He looks down at me, then back up at the girls, and tells them good-bye. He runs over with me and asks, "What is it?"
"I don't know what to do," I whisper.
He looks confused, "What are you talking about?"
"I mean, I've never been to a dance before, but I thought that they'd dance. No one is dancing."
He laughs, "I guess the dancing hasn't started yet."
"Then what do we do now?"
He shrugs, "I don't know. Socialize?"
Socialize? With who? But I say, "O-kay."
He nods, then he's off again, going to talk with Saphira, Jaihra, and Raja, leaving me alone.
I start wandering around, but everyone I can see is a grown up. I walk around the huge ballroom randomly. Fifteen minutes later, I'm still walking, and the dance is getting a bit boring. I sigh and look down, then I suddenly bump into a boy about my age, "Oh, sorry!" I'm about to walk off again when I stop. Most of the people I've seen so far are grown-ups. Here's a boy about my age. Maybe I could follow Nixie's advice and "socialize" a bit.
"Hey. I'm Galexia."
"I'm Adrian." He stands a bit taller, as if waiting for a response from me.
"Hi."
"I'm Adrian," he repeats, "Prince Adrian."
"Oh!" I say, "Like, Saphira's brother Adrian?"
"Yeah. Saphira's my sister. You know, I'm going to be king one day."
"Wow," I say, looking at him, "Well, Prince Adrian--"
"You can just call me Adrian."
"Okay."
"Galexia, come with me. I have to give you a tour of the palace."
"Aren't we supposed to stay at the dance?" I asked, slightly reluctant to leave.
"Well, I guess we're supposed to," he shrugged, "But it doesn't matter to me. I'm the future king, remember."
"You sure we won't get into trouble?'
"Yep. Come on, Galexia. Don't be a coward."
I frown, "Fine. Let's go."
He smiles, turns, and runs out of the room. I throw one last glance over my shoulder at the crowded ballroom and follow him out a side door, into a small, dimly lit hallway.
"This leads to the dungeons. That's my favorite place."
I give him a look like he's crazy, but follow him along. At least it's better than wandering around at the dance. Maybe tonight won't be so boring after all.
Well, the whole Jaihra, Phoenix, Raja thing should be pretty mild since they're all quite young (13 14 ish I guess. At least, Phoenix is). I think we should keep the shipping kind of a light, friendly thing with a hint of maybe a liiiiitle romance. Like slightly. Also, I ship Andromeda and the random, unnamed pilot, which doesn't make sense b/c I actually haven't posted their adventure on here, but I wrote it all in my head. Ack! My internet froze for a few seconds and I lost my post. Take two! This may be more of a summary.
Phoenix~
Wow.
The ballroom actually looks really amazing.
Underneath all the sparkles, of course. First off, the space is huge and filled with fairies. Fairies flying, fairies sitting at little tables or talking in clumps. There are even little curved verandas built close to the vaulted ceiling, perfect for fairies to sit on and take in the view below. And there is a lot to take in. Strung across the ceiling are strands of tiny fairy lights that shimmer and waver, giving the whole room a dreamy feel. The walls they hang from are not so much built as shaped. They're made of something glassy but oblique, that's colored a vague rosy orange. It makes me feel like I'm swimming in a pool of marmalade. Which is nice, but it makes me hungry. The whole theme of the room seems to be flowers. Petal-shaped chairs circle delicate tables whose legs are entwined silver stems. Fresh flowers in shimmering vases decorate each table. I'm guessing these aren't the carnivourous type. To top it all off, a beautiful flower is traced out on the ceiling by multicolored jewels. I'm not sure what flower it is. It has a stem, leaves, and curling petals. That should narrow it down some. Now, I'm not much for the whole sparkly, flowery, fairy stuff, but somehow it all works together to create an otherworldly beauty. You can't find this anywhere on my home planet. And somehow, I think this type of world is where I belong. Somewhere different, magical, and unpredictable.
I follow Raja and Saphira, who stop next to a table underneath the flower above us' leaves.
"Wow! This place is totally awesome! And huge!! This place is like, the coolest thing I've ever seen!" I exclaim. Raja nods, but she hardly seems to be paying attention. Her eyes flit around nervously as if she senses a negative tone. I certainly don't see anything but partying fairies.
"Hi," says Jaihra's voice behind us suddenly. I turn around to greet her, but stop before the words can leave my mouth. Okay, when's the last time Jai wore a dress? Never? She looks...really nice.
"Love the outfit! Welcome to fairy central." In the course of two sentences, Saphira's voice switches from bright and cheery to the tone of a bored teenager being forced to attend her parents' party.
"Cool beans. Our closets seem to have great fashion sense."  I've never liked clothes before, and it's cool to wear something nice for a change. Honestly, I still don't really care. But we're all being our weird party selves who laugh at everything and pretend to want the spotlight. Been there, done that. The spotlight's kind of nice. Then you don't trip over things. The girls are all like "ooh look at your dress!" "aah, it matches your eyes!" "oh my gosh that hairpin is gorge*." Please explain girls. I don't understand.
A tug on my sleeve and a swish of skirts announces Galexia behind me. She looks up at me with that "help, I need an older sibling look!"
"Umm.. talk to you all later," I tell the girls, and walk away with Galexia. Somethign couldn't be wrong already, could it? Oh, let me guess. The glitter is secretly taking over the world while we're all here talking, and now it's planning to—
"I don't know what to do!" Galexia whispers, panicked.
"What are you talking about?" I reply. This stuff is common sense. Talk in overly polite voices. Avoid the dance floor. Find the food and then discreetly go back for seconds...and thirds...and elevnies.
"I've never been to a dance before," she confides. I tell her to socialize and she runs off. Galexia knows how to socialize. Actually, in that area, all of us Letter** kids are formed from the same mold. I start to head back to the girls, but then I see someone leaning against the wall. It takes me a second to recognize Sam. I saunter over.
"Not one for parties?"
"You seem to be," Sam says instead of answering.
"Umm, actually. I don't know what I'm doing. I just fake it 'till I make it. Soo...have you seen any food? I'm starving. Flying a plane is hard work."
"Crashing a plane," she corrects.
"Ehh, same thing. It looked so cool when it blew up, anyways," I reply, echoing my conversation with Dathan.
"Do you want to go outside? It's stuffy in here," Sam suggests, as if she can't take one more minute of being in the marmalade-ish ballroom. I shrug.
"Umm, sure. I've been dying to see what the rest of fairy city looks like anyway."
*may have been watching Barbie life in the dreamhouse lately.  :P
**just realized we never made a last name for them. I keep thinking "Letter" the name I made for characters Jarrus and Tonya in my solo write (yes that was me. Surprise! Actually, I don't think any of you were here for that. Moving on. Does letter sound good?)
AH so sorry guys I haven't been posting!! And just for future reference, Lyra is a little quieter and she doesn't exactly... smile.
Lyra~
I know I was probably supposed to pick out something fancy and all for this whole ball thing, but my wings attract attention enough...
In the past, I've been able to keep them in for long periods of time, but lately it's started to become painful when I keep the magic in for too long.
I can feel people's stares burning into me as I walk in. My knee-length black dress with ripped edges, black jacket and black leggings must not meet their stuck-up standards or something. The glittering crowds make me feel closed in and suffocated. I notice a particularly well-dressed boy talking to Phoenix. Probably the stuffiest of the lot, I think contemptuously as I make my way along the edge of the room towards the outside.
Pushing open the glass doors, I let out a relieved sigh at the cool night air with NO PEOPLE anywhere! I make my way over to the bubbling fountain around the corner and perch on the edge, skimming my fingers along the surface of the cool, crystalline water. Snow-white water lilies practically glow in the moonlight, and tall, glittering trees cast delicate lacy shadows over the water with their delicate leaves.
In solitude, I slowly relax. No noise but the distant ballroom music drifting in lilting strands and the pacifying bubbling of the fountain. Humming absentmindedly, I fiddle with the jagged edge of my dress, a song from back on earth comes to my mind. Softly I begin to sing, barely realizing it.
What if we could re right the stars
And make the world to be ours...
"Sounds good." A voice startles me out of the song. I jump to my feet and nearly topple into the fountain in the process. The same boy that Phoenix was talking to earlier emerges from behind a bush hung with glittering gold berries. I'm completely tongue-tied. For a moment we stare at each other and then the boy comes closer, saying, "I'm Prince Adrian, Saphira's brother. You can just call me Adrian. Did you come to get away too?" "Yeah." I mumble. "And what's your name?" Adrian asks. My face grows warm. "Oh. Lyra."
Just as another awkward moment seems to be in the process, a bubble of voices reaches my ears as the glass door opens. I can hear Phoenix and Sam. As they step outside, Sam points over in my direction. "Hey, look! It's Lyra! And Adrian!" Feeling a little uncomfortable, I edge off the edge of the fountain and manage a half-hearted wave. "Uhhhh... hi." I offer awkwardly.~
