Hm, so I've been thinking, maybe we should actually make the CSS more like the Indian Subcontinent, since so much of civilization, religion and culture has persisted there for so long; whether it be the Indus Valley civilization, or the birth and spreading of Hinduism, Buddhism and Sikhism, or the fact that it to this day competes as the most populated place on Earth. Just seems important, but maybe that would directly contradict the whole spirit of the CSS... Like, I always has it imagined much more isolated, like Egypt, and had teased the idea of it being more like Ethiopia(which, by the way, the is a civil war going on over there currently, so don't forget to send support for the people there as well! Just because it's not in Europe doesn't mean that it isn't important, of course).

Considering it for a while, I feel like it should be leaning more mysterious and hidden -- a legendary civilization too difficult to seek out against the shifting sand; like that what we originally had in mind with the underground tunnels and all. :/

Tell me what you all think would be better. (Also, we will expand our world eventually, so we don't have to cram every cool desert'y idea in this one civilization, which I feel like this is an issue I have when I get excited and start developing/focusing on one place)

Before and Afters of Khrani, Fashii and Shora respectively (the turning point being the murder of Shora). Dear glorious drama and angst we've stirred up here~

Whoa! Those are awesome! I can feel the emotions and personalities of each character.

I'm being extremely unhelpful and not-around, I'm sorry. But these are great!

Thank you!

And Hex, it's totally fine. You're doing great with brainstorming, and are an invaluable member of the team! Don't talk down to to yourself so much, mate.  :)

Taking some time off is alright, and none of us are terribly active right now anyway. It can be important to reset and approach a project with a fresh mindset, too! I should know, I'm literally always thinking about this project, but I too feel like I don't have much too add a lot of the time.

If you're really passionate about any part, feel free to take over that area and experiment! No one's going to hold you back or judge you! I'd love to see what you can come up with!

Thanks! You're great, I always see some new blurb about something I never thought of when I open this tab. Also, slightly random but I used Inkarnate a few days ago and it was really cool!

I absolutely get that feeling too, but we'll get better someday!

About the Inkarnate thing though, great -- and I know, right! I love the aesthetic so much. (As a side note I just discovered this game called Age of Frostfall and it has a similar medieval kinda feel, which gets me really excited, and then promptly reminds me how much of an amateur I am at world-building. When are we gonna make an icy place, huh :/)

Anyway, good luck, y’all! Stay creative <3

I haven't posted in forever, sorry everyone :/

Okay, I've been thinking about the people of the Central Sands lands. I'm thinking that they would wear light, loose clothing to fit the hotter climate, with scarves like bandanas to keep dust out of their mouths. I imagine their clothes being brown and faded, but their scarves standing out, being red or some other bright colour. They have wide-brimmed hats to keep off the sun, and they like to wear gold- gold rings, gold belts, clothes embroidered with gold thread.

There are those elite people, who know the sand magic and keep it to themselves, but what if besides them and the other people we thought of, there are tribes scattered across the land, who vie for control of the land and the water. These tribes are ancient and used to be powerful, but through the conflict between them they have lost most of their feel and respect for the ancient magic. Now they are little better than raiders who constantly squabble among themselves. Few of them actually care about magic, and the ancient knowledge, ect. anymore.

Maybe hundreds of years ago, the Central Sands empire was very powerful. And it still looks powerful on the outside, but it's crumbling inwardly like a sandcastle built where it's too wet. The pride of the elite people and the warfare of the tribes has weakened the civilisation on the inside.

Maybe in the actual story that we were thinking about in the beginning, a new power could come out of the surrounding lands - or from within the Central Sands Empire, that would threaten all these different groups of people. The people would have to abandon their differences and defend their land, or lose their land altogether. Maybe it would be in this conflicting situation that things start to change, and we could somehow connect the legends and dieties that you guys have been working on into the story too.

Tell me what you think! Also, I really like the avatars Jaybells made. They convey the story so well!

I like light, loose clothing in brown-ish-sandy colors, it seems practical. I don't think there should be any difference in clothing based on genders, but maybe occupation? Beyond the obvious of different tools based on jobs, maybe scarfs could denote class or occupation, with different colors for different jobs.
One thing about gold: where do they get it all? Is there a mine somewhere? Do they trade for it? Is it of value like we use coins or do they just trade for everything? Is there a different system inter-clan than with other clans? Is gold worth a lot or is it very common?
Tribes vying for power would be an interesting dynamic. We could have a long and complicated history about wars and alliances. Aditionally, if each clan worshiped a god or a single power of a god, then they could have alliances with other clans based on the godly figures they each worshipped. The gods could use their clans on earth (or whatever planet) to take out their anger at the other gods, trying to destroy the other god's human (or whatever species) glory. So when the gods started to crumble, turning into Jaybell's "after" versions, maybe the clans started to die too, losing power as the gods stopped paying attention to them and grew old. Now they're just trying to survive in the desert, fighting for water and resources.

Oopsie, maybe I'm not supposed to be on this thread but I just wanted to say hi...

So...

Hi Hex! I haven't seen or heard from you in such a long time but it's nice that you posted again! I remember when you introduced yourself to me when I joined I was just wondering, "Where did Hex go?" But I'm glad you're posting again! I didn't see you on any other threads...

Sorry for the very loud jump-in. I was just going to tell you that the Tag Game you joined is still up and running....somehow* I was wondering if you're still in the tag game or you left?

Hi! I'm glad you remembered me, we didn't really interact that much when you first joined (except in your intro thread basically), and then I kind of dropped off the face of the CB for the summer. It's fine that you jumped in, although maybe this isn't the best thread to talk (: I'll check out tag, tbh I can't remember if I was ever on it...

Hi!

Sorry to interrupt again, but I really couldn't help saying that I absolutely LOVE those avatars you made for the characters for the story you're planning! I would like to perhaps be a part of this story, but I don't know what is going on. Can you help me catch up to the plot?
