Magical School RP!

Petrichor Academy sits high on a cliff somewhere in an undiscovered part of Scotland, on the border between the mediocore and the magical.  The Academy has been an institute of education and magic for ages.  Here students learn things like alchemy and rune-magic alongside math and literature.  Petrichor Academy's student body and faculty are made up of both humans and magical beings.

The school has three Houses- House Kelpie, House Leprechaun, and House Roc.  Unlike other house system such as the Hogwarts Houses, Petrichor's houses do not determine dorm arrangements, sports teams, or tight social structures, and the Houses do not compete exept during the school's annual Midsummer Festival games.  Instead, these Houses represent their students' unique pursuit of knowledge and exploration, and the path they will take after graduation.  Each House has a designated faculty leader, one or two specialized classes, and at the end of the year partakes a Crusade- a House-wide quest that may be something such as finding an ancient relic or solving a mystery plauging the land.

House Kelpie represents those who seek mystery and discovery, House Leprechaun represents those who seek innovation and imagination, and House Roc represents those who seek glory and adventure.

(That's totally fine, Hex! I hope you had a great break!)

Suddenly, the door to our dorm opens, and a girl with softly curling brown-gold hair appears around it, asking about a Flowerserpent.

"Oh, hi," I say. "You're Hex, right? I'm Flamarestii, and that's Darkvine-" I point to each of us in turn, "-though you probably figured that out already. And that's-"

I look at the Flowerserpent guiltily, then at Darkvine. At this rate, her secret is going to be all over the school once the day is out. I don't want to be the one spilling the beans left, right, and centre, so I wait to mention it.

"Come on in," I say to Hex. "Nice to meet you."

i finally shake off the last afteraffects of my ability. i quickly grab Gyrfalcon and hide him in my bag, but too late. "um... hi? one: please do not tell about my Flowerserpent. his name is Gyrfalcon by the way." (Gyrfalcon squeaked adorably when he heard his name,) "and two: hi, i am Darkvine. if you must know, i have a pet drakon as well, named Siki." Hex looked even more interested. "a drakon? so. cool!"

"I won't tell anyone."

I throw my bag on my bed and jump on it. It bounces. "Yes! I love bouncy beds..." I exclaim while bouncing. The bed springs creak. Whoops.

"Anyway, you guys were talking about a wall? When I came in you were starting at it. Enlighten me please."

i exchange glances with Flamie.

SO, SO SORRY that this is just one line. i have to go to bed right now, plus i have no idea what to write. again, SO. SO SORRYYYYYYYY. XP

I look at the wall. "It sounded hollow. Like there might be something on the other side. We were trying to figure out a way to find out without knocking the wall down and arousing the probably ferociously terrifying anger of all the teachers. I mean, if it is a secret passage, there has to be a way in to it. Right?"

My roommates nod in agreement.

----------------------------

It's okay, Darkvine. We're all busy right now, or maybe it's just me. Whatever.

-Drius-

Whoa. This school is super cool. There are so many different conversations going on and I try my hardest to tune them out. I don't want to be that person who listens to everyone's secrets.

A piece of paper floats down in front of me and I reach out to grab it. I think it's my room assignment. I'm with someone named Erin. Huh. I hope we get along.

I wander into my dorm room and I guess Erin isn't here yet because it is completely empty. I set my stuff down on one of the beds and decide to take a look around the room. It's pretty spacious for a dorm, that's for sure. I woonder when my roomate will get here.

Erin~

I wander around the building, entranced by everything I see - the high vaulted ceilings, the sunlight shining through huge windows, the feeling of magic flowing like music through the halls.  It's like nothing I've ever seen before.  There are so many people here too!  I've grown up knowing everyone in my small hometown, so I wonder if I'll be able to ajust to this new sort of world and make friends.

The Headmistress said classes aren't starting until tomorrow, so I guess I should find my dorm.  I have to climb a tall flight of stairs to get to it, which is a bit annoying.  I guess I could use the excersize though.  I open the door and enter into a spacious, brightly-lit room.  Someone is already there, and turns to me as I walk in. "Hi," I say, feeling more shy than I'd like to be. "You must be... Drius, right?  I'm Erin."

-Drius-

I hear the door open so I turn towards it and I see someone with black curly hair enter. They look around the room before their eyes land on me, "Hi, you must be Drius, right? I'm Erin"

"Uh, yea, hi," I give a little wave and internally curse myself for being so awkward, "You can put your stuff down over there I guess," I gesture to the other bed.

Erin nods and drags her stuff over. I notice that one of the bags seems to be... moving?

"Hey uh, Erin" I say, "I think there's something in your bag?"

"What? oh, it's nothing. Don't worry about it." They wave it off

The bag is still moving, "There is something in there, listen I can just take care of it if you-"

They quickly move in front of me.

~~~~
A little tension already?? Oh my! (Also Drius is 100% down to have a fox as their roomate but I'm not sure if Erin would share that information)
They could have a funny sort of thing going where Erin keeps making dumb excuses and Drius just nods and agrees even though they know for a fact there is a fox in the room? Or they both could just hide the fox from everyone. Up to you :)
I haven't added anything to the story yet, but here we go.
//Hour\\
Sighing, I step into the building. Quite nice, but looks old, and has a sort of musty smell about it. Liffting my head at the ceiling, I breath in. Looks like we have room mates, I think, glancing at the pice of paper in my hand Geuss I'm with Aisling O'Brian. Finding my way to the dorm, I drop my things on the bed. Pretty nice room, big, divided in to halfs. Looks like they did reaserch on our personal styles.My half of the room was painted black, little white spots speackled around the walls, to mimic stars, the four poster bed stood in the corner, a red canopy drapped on it. Other than that, there was a telescope, an art desk and a small closet.  Sighing again, i laid down on the bed closing my eyes.
Shannon
Shannon was with her brother, walking through a forest she had just grown. Light streamed through the trees, making them brilliant with light and speckling the ground with flecks of gold. "Look at all the gold!" Shannon's brother exclaimed, pointing to a place just beyound Shannon's line of sight. As she turned to look, light blazed in front of her closed eyelids.
Suddenly, she was rising from her first night of sleep in the strange new school. Light was streaming  in from a high window. Colored glass showed a picture of a treasure chest with gold, precious stones, and jewlery spilling out. For a moment, Shannon felt confused. Where was her brother? Where was the forest? Where was she?!? Then she remembered. She had been wandering last night and had had to rest on the ground for the night. She got to her feet slowly, bones aching making her regret severely that she had not tried harder to find her room.
I'd better get to class before it starts! Shannon thought worriedly. But as she began to walk down a long stone hallway, she realized that she was no better off than the night before. She still didn't know where her room was or where the classes were, or where Aspen Hall was. Aspen Hall... of course! Shannon shook her head, ashamed at her own stupidity.
She bent to the ground and put both hands on the stone floor. She closed her eyes and waited, listening and feeling with everything in hear. Then, suddenly, she could sense the plants in the school. Some more faintly, some stronger. She could sense the tiny weeds that had somehow managed to squeeze up through cracks in the walls and floor, but those she could feel only the slightest bit. She could feel other plants, decorative flowers in lovingly carved pots, great trees in the grounds, ivy and vines trailing up the school walls.
And there it was. The huge, ancient, deep-rooted aspen tree. She could feel its roots, so old and strong and deeply placed. It was breathtaking. Shannon tried to focus. Feeling the plants was the easy part. Feeling where they were exactly in relation to the school and her own placement would be more difficult.
She frowneed, trying to calculate and feel the way. When she thought she had got it pretty well memorized, she stood up, severing her connection. She walked steadily down the corridor, taking turns she thought were right. Once, she bent to the ground to get oriented once more. Then, finally, Shannon saw the great archway entrance to Aspen Hall. She entered quickly, looking around. Nobody was in sight. She wasn't sure if people gathered here to eat, but if they did, they were long gone now. She sighed, and was about to try and remember the instructions given to find dorm rooms from Aspen Hall, but she felt a tug. She turned towards the enormous tree. Without reallly thinking, she walked forward slowly, staring up in awe at the tree. She could feel it whispering to her, or, at least, she thought she could.
She reached the tree and pressed her hands to the rough-smooth bark. She rubbed her hands along the wood, eyes closed. She felt the magic nestled deep within its bones. Without really realizing or thinking about it, Shannon began to climb. Her eyes were still closed. She could sense where branches were and where there weren't branches... they grew. Shannon  didn't really know that she was making branches burst forth from the tree, she was far too busy listening, trying to understand.
Suddenly, she opened her eyes. She was up high in the boughs of the tree. Leaves fluttered around her. Small, slender brances burst beneath her fingers, curlinig up like a loving pet for a stroke. Tiny, perfect, pale green leaves unfurled. Shannon was mesmerized by the beautiful sights around her, and by the faint whispering.
Shannon didn't realize it was three hours later when the tread of footsteps once again sounded in the hall. She didn't even notice at first. Then Shannon heard the sound of whipsering, but  could tell it wasn't the tree whispering. She gazed down from the brances of the tree and saw to people standing close together, heads bent towards each other, speaking in low voices.
Bright sunlight washes over my face, and I sit up, blinking the sleep out of my eyes.  Normally, I would roll over and pull the covers over my head, but today is the first day of my time at Petrichor.  I didn't want to miss a thing.
I rifle through the bag I brought and pick out my favorite outfit.  (If there are uniforms,  I just pick a clean uniform.) After a few frantic minutes of searching, I find my schedule for the day.  The first class is astronomy.
I smile.   Science classes at home were normal, boring, magi less and mundane.  I can't wait to see how this one will turn out.
