Chatterbox: KYNGDOM™ Power of Fin

UNDERWATER BALL GOSSIP&

UNDERWATER BALL GOSSIP

The sand is golden, the water is pleasantly bubbly, and everybody who’s anybody in Southeast Kyngdom is here. We’re your proud Sea Anemone hosts, Actiniaria and Hexacorallia, reporting LIVE from the most exclusive event of the year: the Enchantment Above the Sea ball, South Kyndom’s first-ever dry land-themed underwater ball. If you see us milling around, come say hi and give us the dish on all the watery gossip! You’ll recognize us by our wavy pink tentacles (quick shout-out to our sponsor, the Subaqueous Salon and Sea Spa).

Of course, in about twenty minutes, we expect the next Guardian of Fin to be announced, and believe us, the room is simply awash with anticipation. You can’t swing an underwater lasso without bumping into a group of whispering shellfish. But first, let’s turn our attention to the incredibly glamorous attendees and give you unlucky landlubbers listening to our broadcast a little taste of the P-A-R-T-Y.

Land ho, this place is sparkling. Each twenty-foot-tall underwater cactus is decked out in glimmering lights. The sand on the floor has been carefully blended with real gold flakes, creating a shimmering carpet underfoot. The punch is flowing, and graceful seahorses are passing out dry land-themed appetizers: miniature sea cucumber tacos, tiny teacups of coral chili, and nacho towers topped off with smoked seashells. We’re hoping to catch a glimpse of the celebrity chef that the organizers swam in for the occasion—he’s a clownfish who trained off the coast of France.

Most of the guests have adopted a look that we’d have to term “highbrow underwater cowboy.” We’re seeing a lot of denim gowns encrusted in barnacles and diamonds. Some of the wealthier guests are wearing silk bandanas and golden spurs. There’s even a cowboy hat or two—ooh, we’re seeing a scuffle unfold on the dance floor! There’s gold-tinted sand swirling through the water! Hold up one second, we’re getting the 411…apparently a Fangtooth Fish attempted to dance with a Vampire Squid, who turned out to be the date of a very muscular Frilled Shark. The sand just cleared, and neither Fish nor Shark is anywhere to be seen. Security here is no joke!

Naturally, the Powers are here in full force. They’re flexing their powerful…do dragons have muscles? They have to, right? They’re looking fabulous in formalwear specially designed by none other than the untouchable CERES AND COMPANY (we’ll hold for applause). And these drama-prone Kyngdomites even seem to be getting along, at least for now.

We’d be remiss not to mention the cornerstone of the décor: a giant ice sculpture in the middle of the dance floor, surrounded by tantalizing desserts (salt-water granitas, anyone?). The sculpture is carved into the shape of a massive and very realistic rodeo scene, but instead of a cowgirl, the artist depicted a breathtakingly accurate version of our very own Finny—the heir apparent to the Guardian of Fin. The little dolphin is portrayed so accurately that she looks practically real. In fact, if you glance at the sculpture at just the right moment, you can almost see her eyes move. Magical! At the base of the ice sculpture is a keypad that requires a code, but it’s unclear what it’s meant for. Does anyone have any information? Come find us and spill the deets—we’re all tentacles.

The dancing is being put on hold for a moment, because it’s time for one of the much-anticipated activities: some of the lucky guests are about to try their fins at roping sea cows. The massive creatures are being released from a series of gilded pens, while guests shriek and attempt to catch them with lassos made from kelp. This activity certainly fits the theme, but it’s looking like no one can manage to catch a sea cow. In fact, the cows appear to be taunting the guests. We can’t believe it—they’re lining up and dancing a can-can! Hold on, now they’re swimming over the heads of the guests and disappearing into the deep blue of the ocean. The organizers look irate.

Having just slipped over to try a bit of the punch, your faithful correspondents are happy to report that the punch is especially tasty this year. Jeweled Rockskipper!

There’s something a bit different about it…a certain fizz…a tang on the back of the tongue. Perhaps the celebrity chef is trying out a new seaweed-infused simple syrup? In the interest of full gossipy disclosure, we’ve been hearing rumors that the punch is spiked—but we’d have to try another cup in order to report back for sure.

Ooh, Imagine Sea Dragons is about to take the stage: their hair is gelled, their buttons are shelled, and they look ready to rock. Hope they play their hit single, Radioactive (Materials are Leaking Into the Ocean—Thanks a Lot, Humans). Looks like it’s time for these anemones to get their groove on—come find us at the dance floor and tells us what’s really going on at this party. The wilder the rumor, the more we want to hear it! Actiniaria and Hexacorallia out.

I cough up water, sitting on the dry beach. Dry...land.... My blue glow is back and won't go away, thanks to the three Powers. Ronan's still unconcious...but he'll wake up soon. One of the other humans did something that I think is called CPF on him. Or was it CPR...?

Claaws has the Power of Fin in her claw. I walk over to her. I'm about to ask her if she's okay, but that's just dumb. Instead, "Are you and the Power safe?" I ask quietly. She nods, but keeps the Power a good distance from me. "This might be a good time to activate it. On the other end of the beach." I say.

Claaws nods, and spreads her wings. Caelani is about to take flight. "I want to see this." He says in his deep, raspy voice. "Caelani-" I say quickly. I run over and touch a feather, causing the fairy wings to burst into existence. "I might try flying over there....I-I'm not sure if I can fly with them..." "You don't have enough time to learn." He says, and pulls me onto his back with a talon.

Wait, did that just happen? What?! Wow.

Flying on a Gryphon is amazing. The rise and fall of his wings in motion, the air rushing past you, the feeling that you don't need a good grip to not fall off...and the midair loops. Expecially those. When he finally lands I feel like begging for another ride. And another. And another.

I step into the sand. I'm a little wobbly, but I regain my balance. Claaws is holding the Power, a conch shell on a rope. Who's idea was it to be a conch shell anyways? (Lol just kidding. I know whose idea it was.) "Could I play it?" I ask. "No." Claaws says. I bite my lip. I've always been stubborn, and I'm not going to stop for a giant dragon.

I take off at a highspeed run towards Claaws, duck under her, and yank the Conch away. Claaws says nothing, but...she's probably really angry. But the look on Ecio's face....is perfect. "How did you?!" He splutters. I shrug, and step into the water. "Is it a flute?" I ask. "It's a horn, blow into the peirced end." One of the Powers replies (I can't tell who, my back was turned).

I blow into it--and Brazen Goo splatters everywhere in an explosion of goo. The mirage of a conch shell dissolves, and when it disolves, more Brazen Goo comes. I quickly wash the stuff off of me. "ANOTHER fake!?"

I look at the boy king, and see his soul is strong.   I can't do attacks to his soul, even if I tried.  So I focus on the poor animals who had the punch.  Using my power, I lift 12 of the animals and push them out onto the surface.  I don't want to fight.  Taking a quick look around,  Claaws got into a struggle with jaaws and the boy king.  Most people and animals are heading to the surface. I see that it's going to get more dangerous, so I telport away.

What the... what just happened? I'm sorry about not being on for so long that when I come back I feel like I'm on another planet, but Iceland's wifi/network is horrible. And I think you have to pay for it too. So anyway... what has happened to the ball????!!!! Sorry again, and I'm really glad I'm finally back.

I say twords the rest of the grewp, even thow half of them ara ether waking up or still asleep. Then I hear sumthing, that makes my ears twitch. "Yes! Im fine! just leve me alone!" I hear I look araund to find the corce of the sound, but theres nothing behind me exsept more water and sand. I shook my head, and started walking twords the other animals. even if i didnt like it, if we were going to get of shore fast enoth, I was going to have to help

When I open my eyes after telporting, I realize I aimed my target badly.  I fall out of the sky and pop another spria stone in my mouth and swim up.  I see a raft with a dragon, and 2 humans.

Great Job on your telportion skills.

Hey. Marrow.  If you can find me, Than where I am I?

About 600 miles from me.

Thank you for the location. Now what do I do?

I say help the others on the raft. I saw in the humans minds that they want to help the survivors of the dome.

You stalker.

Hey... At least IM not the one who telported herself 600 miles away from her place.

Should I help them?

Yea.

For all of the moons, I don't want use my power.  I guess I'll just bulid my own raft and go to meet you.  If I remaber the map correctly, I'm northeast? Right?

Yes.

I summon 6 bones~long ones.I smash them togther and find a rope. I build and tye them.  after sometime I'm speeding across the water by shooting beams of lasers at the water, sending huge wave behind me.

Uuuh icy?  I'm gonna go along with Ronan's post because it came first soooo.

A thread of sunlight weaves through the saltwater, the light dancing solemnly cross the smooth surface.  Slipping through the water reaching down to the darkness below.

Small bits of debris drift past, glinting at the sun like stars in the sky.  Ronan has been picking them out of the water ever since he woke up, fingering each one to test its worth.  He now has a generous portion of rods, sticks, and bent metel, something I couldn't care less about.  After flying the whole day navigating I couldn't care less about anything.  Anything take away food.  We were all starving.  Two days without food and water and we weren't getting anywhere catching fish.  I had tried, being really the only one with a chance.  But I'm an owl not a cormorant.

I spiraled down to to land on the crow's nest, tugging at Laria's hair playfully.  Her eyes fluttered open, she laughed "Hey you, catch any grub?" I shook my head.  She sighed.  " too bad we don't have fishing rods, those would be really handy right about now." I cooed softly.  Laria stared up at the sky, the first few stars twinkled playfully, as if they didn't care if we died tonight. or not. Laria grunted and stood up, stretching her arms above her head.

"Ready to change shifts?" She called.  Everyone nodded.  I flew down to caelani's shoulder, "don't bother, I'll have the wind guide us tonight." Claaws gaped.  "You mean I could've spent this whole day napping instead of paddling my wings off?!?!" I smiled "your wounds from the brazen goo would be much worse if you hadn't soaked them in saltwater as well as have your blood moving." Claaws mumbled something under her breath but went to the other side of the raft to lay down.

Vivean scrambled up to the crow's nest with laria while icy lay by claaws, caelani coiled up on the back side of the raft as Ronan sat up leaning against the the mast.   I perched on the pole that held the sail up tucking my head under my wing.  The crescent moon may have smiled on us that night, but I could never be sure.  Finny's arrival was to say, stirring

I'm really sorry if I controled your charrie too much.  And if I missed someone:-P

Actually mind was written first. Ronan just replied to an earlier comment to write his. But the stories don't really conflict either Smile

Yes, I was at the ball. But no one noticed. I let my legs drag in the water, the cool liquid feels good on the small wounds on my legs. A chicken comes over and starts bandaging my cuts. I think her name is Scarlet Crimsonwing. My hair is dirty, my clothes torn, and my mind rattled. I went unconcious at some point, but I'm not sure when exactly. I was entering the ball, and next thing I knew everything was exploding, goo spraying everywhere, shrieks and screams of terror, and the powers and my sister in the middle of it all. Why Is she always the hero? Or the person to do something big? She never told me about her big plans to fly with the powers. Or her plans to bust up the ball, either. Maybe I haven't been around much lately, but some excuse that is. "Anwen, your a PowerFriend, right?" Now was not the time for the chicken medic to ask this question. "I used to think I was," I said. "Because Icy and I were twins, and inherited this crazy power, but then, I realized, Icy was the real PowerFriend. Not me. Ill never be a PowerFriend." I say. "Why?" Scarket says. "You can't just change who you are!" I think about this. "Yes, but someone else can. Icy acts like a PowerFriend. She's always the hero. Always doing something big, always right in the middle of the Chaos, while I stand on the sidelines,  watching. I'm not a PowerFriend, I i don't deserve to be. Icy's the only PowerFriend this world will ever need." Scarlet stood still for a moment. Then she took something off from around her neck. "Look. See this? It's Icy's locket." I nodded. "When I rescued her, she gave this to me."

"So what?"

"This locket is what told her she was a PowerFriend. It gave her her past. She wanted to forget the past. Forget part of who she was. Give away part of herself. Because she's generous, and also because it revealed surprising truths that she didn't want to know." I was astonished. Icy told me about the locket, but how did Scarlet know? And how did She know all this about forgetting yourself and the past or whatever she said. Then something grabbed me by the shoulders, and began lugging me toward the island. It was Scarlet. She let go. I hit the ground from about a foot or so above. "They need you!" She called as she flew back to the raft to tend to the wounded. And it was true. I ran up yo Icy just as she found that the Power was a fake. "We have to find the real one!" I said.

I woke with a throbbing head on ground. Rocking ground. By the ocean.

I sat up. What in the world happened? One second there was a dolphin, all excited and stuff, the next moment....

She was here.

Her first thought was 'was Sunstroke?' and her second thought was 'who in the fur is that he's talking too!?'

Then I realized we wernt on dry-erm-wet land. It was a bout!

....more like a raft.

I was too seasick to move so i just lied there hoping someone would come comfort me. Telling me everything will be okay.

Hummm.....everything is so confusing. Just to clear stuff up:

How about Icy blew the conch on this raft that we came across, or built but who built it? And then it ended up being fake. We started collecting debress that had flouted up from the dome and adding them on. My fire breath came un handy, it mealted the meatle just enough so it would harden and stick to the wood. And how about that was how we made the crow's nest etc. And then we started rescuing survivors yada yada yada. Okay i think this covers it im gonna add on.

The night went by with no sleep. By morning Claaws was still mad at Cealani for making her paddle all day. The good thing was that her tail had finally healed, no more big gaping gash. Bad news was no one knew where Eico was. And Ayearth is missing. Well, his instrament. She was tempted to fly off and look for BIG ships, but the animals in the sea and on this boat were counting on her to make them feal safe. Maybe she could do that when they find shore.

In the dim rays of dawn, Claaws stared out at the never ending sea as she thought. But as the sea started rippling, she raised her head and forgat about her thoughts. Fist a large flat snout, then two yellow eyes, and finally the rest of Eico's head. Emerging from beside him was the gaint eel from earlyer. "Eico!" Claaws exclaimed to loudly. "I-erm- Clawed Serpaint! You found us!"

Windswift drowsely flew down from the makeshift crows nest and landed on Claaws' head. "Another-Power?" she slurred her words with sleep.

Claaws shook her head and she quickly spread her wings before hitting the water. "Okay! Okay! Im awake!"

She glanced around sharply before looking at something behind Claaws. "Hello, Clawed Serpaint," it was Icy, leaving Ronan as he woke to gather more suplise.

She walked up and started glowing brighter, illuminating the early dawn air. She rested a hand on Claaws' head as she walked closer. "Who's that?" Claaws asked the question before Icy could, probably more roughly then she would've.

Eico glanced sideways and introdused her. "This is Iceclaw, she saved my life."

Claaws snorted. And the Eel he was flexing to. Before Claaws could say it though, Icy spoke. "Hey, maybe she could surch the water for more survivors?"

"Sure!" the eel said chearfully. Too cheerfully. "And if i find Finny, i will tell you."

Then she was gone. Eico lifted a talon from the water and grabbed onto the boat. It tilted as he tried to haul himsself on. Claaws slid towards the water. To close. "Wo, wo, wo!" she barked. "Your gonna sink this hole raft! Then how will we safley find land?"

"Swim?" he continued. Claaws tail slid into the water. The boat raised higher and there were yelps of panick.

There was nothing else she could do. She bit him. And he let go. The boat slammed down onto the sea, sending a spray of water into the air. Icy stummbled and Claaws slid back to her original place. "Well how am i suposed to get on!" he complaned. Then they both glanced at Icy.

"What?" she stampered. "Oh. I won't tell."

Claaws and Eico exchanged a glance, and Claaws spread her wings to cover him as he transformed into a badger and scrambled on.

"If you dont mind," Windswift whispered from the sky. "To stay that way? We dont have enough room as it is."

Eico sighed and lumbered past Claaws to a small corrner away from the rest of the animals.

Claaws sighed. One down, one to go.

all I remember is the party, fealing tired, then a big comotion, i dont know what egsactly hapend, but, i do remember scrambeling out of the way of sumthing sharp. then my memory faded to fealings. It was wet, I dont like wet, its so adgetating. then eventualy, I codent breath, and acople seconds later, I had the ability to breath, but the surication was replaced with cold. I tryed to blur out the fealing with fire, but that was splashed out by salty liquid. again, that reminded me how much I didnt like watter. Then, finaly, I felt a jult, and I woke up, my head spining, like I had just riden a roller coaster. the world was bright and blury, and smeled like the forsaken liquid that had drenched me. I triyed to stand up, pushing my hands against soggy wood, but i droped, after fealing a stabing pain cores thur my arm. I blinked the fog away, as much as I can, then I looked doun at my arm. the wavy sleve that was covering my arm, was tworn open, and right underneth was a gash, that ether looked deap, or just was deap. araund it was a purple cloth, acting as a bandege. I looked up at a small, raft with an aquard dainty birds nest perching in the center. I shook my head, Ill help as soon as I get my arm rebound, then I riped of the remaining green sleeve and started raping it coshesly araund my arm.

I gasp and water fills my lungs. I cough and push upwards. I am under water, and as I break the surface I take a deep breath.

All I remember was noise, chaos, and a man laughing through it all. I look around. Where are Cobalt and Zephyr? I see a glint of metal in the water. I swim over and look. It is Cobalt, and he is badly damaged. I realize that I am hurt as well and that I have a huge gash on my head. What am I going to do?

I hear another splash as I lift lyself back onto the small boat, we had upgraded at the sand bar. I slid back to the birdsnest, then I saw sumthing shiny. It was just a glint of the waves, but it brout my atention to a swiming animal. his back was turned from the boat. without thinking, I rushed over tothe edge and grabed Sprocket and heved him on board. then he shook me of and sayd "Cobalt!" I turned araund, and Plundged back into the waves
