Power Origin Ideas

The origins of the Kyngdom Powers are a mystery to all. Many stories have been passed down through the generations. Each tale may be based in truth, although the full truth is clouded by the mists of time.

What stories have you heard?

Check out others' ideas on the previous origins thread, and feel free to repost any of those ideas here.

If we got your story wrong or left your story out, please post your correction(s) on this thread. The poll will close on Tuesday, May 3, at noon CT.

It's fine. You can read all about it in the Gryphon Encounters thread. I myself are still a bit confused to what I'm supposed to do-why do they need a pathetic little human to guard the power creatures?

It's a bit strange but I'm still working on it. I think me & the rest of the writers who have wrote with me can work this out.

Gaeaas could be the serpent's name, it has to do with earth. Aegeeon could be the sea dragon's name, it has to do with water and storms. or....OMG!!! The sea dragon could be Nessy!! You know, the sea dragon that lives in Ireland. It would be perfect! I like your name for the Griffin. Ill start calling him that in Griffin encounteres.

Lots of e's in your suggestions. I'm probably too late, but I think the sea dragon (which I am resigned to accept) should be Vesi (Estonian for 'water' according to Google Translate) and the serpent Kaljumaa (combined translation of 'rock' and 'earth'). Also, it's Nessie. And I seriously doubt the sea dragon would appreciate that name. It belongs to a completely different being that might not even be real. Sorry if that's mean.

@Icy

Hey Icy, I was wondering whether we could create the origin of the power friends together, since I am also a Power Friend. (Mostly for the power of Howl) Please let me know!

@Feryl

I like your idea! I'll be creating a new character just so that she can be part of the new 'Human' Powers.

@Moonshadow

Sorry I haven't posted in a long while! Been very busy. If you have any idea for the post, let me know and I'll write it. (Brainstorming nook did Not work this time. )

I just have to say one thing...why would Lunee like a common wolf? I mean they invented everything, made the earth, they shouldn't have mates. They're the face of power, six legends destined to rule Kyngdom. They shouldn't have anyone important besides their six siblings. That's way the guardains guarded them, making sure no one ever activated them again, because everyone was afraid of them, afraid they would kill everyone. Also they didn't want them to take their power back. So that's why the guardains didn't want anyone to summon them. I also tried writing a background story for Catastrophe. It's a little long, so sorry about that.

Catastrophe paced in his small room, in his small house, in his tiny yard, in the big city of Kyndomopolis. All he wanted to be different. To do something with his life. He didn't want to be a miner like his brother, or a builder like his dad. He didn't want to be a clothing maker like his mother or a jeweler like his two sisters. He wanted to rule. They say there were legends in the world, legends who created the earth, animals, and humans. Legends who control all wind, earth, water, life, senses, fire, and greed. He wanted a power like that. He wanted a power that would let him rule all humans. To rule Kyndomopolis. Would the legends give him that sort of power? It was worth a shot.

Catastrophe walked all the way to the dark forests, where the all powerful Dragon was rumored to live. They said she was the leader of the legends, or at least the one with the most power. She controled two things, fire...and all feelings dark. Her most famous, greed. He traveled deep into the tall trees, with a large supply of clean water and dried meat. Days passed with no luck...and he was soon out of supplies. He leaned against a tree, the cool moss soaking up his sweat. He closed his eyes to the hot sun, and was soon fast asleep. He woke to something warm and rough rubbing against his cheek. He mumbled a protest, but the rubbing continued and he blinked open his eyes. He gasped and nearly jumped out of his skin. Right in front of him was a white wolf, her eyes icy blue. She licked him again, and he sputtered in protest. "You're awake," she spoke in almost a motherlike tone. "What is your name, little one?"

"I'm, I'm, Catastrophe, ma'am." His parents alwas taught him to show respect to all animals. "What, what should I call you?"

"Froststone," she whispered. "Interesting name for one so small. You must be hungry, you are far from your human city."

"Thank you," was all he could say as she pushed him onto her back and carried him to a stream a few miles away. He drank happily, eating some fresh deer in between gulps. When he was done, he told Froststone why he was here. "Dragon doesn't live here," she awnsered quietly. "No one knows where she lives. Or the others. But this is her favorite place to hunt, and I can show you the place.

Froststone led the way. On their way there she promised to look after him like a mother. They also met an orphaned wolf pup, Amber, a beautiful carmle steet which was happy to join; and give Catasrophe a ride. They called her Misilaniuse. They also met a black panther, who happened to rescue Amber from black quicksand. His name was Midnnight. He also resued a cobra by the name of Jaaws, and a crow trapped in a sapling. They crow's name was Obsidain. Midnnight also got in a fight with a badger named Striippeess. He accompanied them on their journey just because he needed to prove to Midnnight that he was quicker than him. One day, deep in the forest, they came opon a wolf. A strangely large wolf with beautiful snow-white, feathered wings. The animals instantly reconized her, and bowed. He bowed two, without question. The wolf growled in their direction, heaving herself up so she towered over the tallest trees. "What are you doing in my territory?" she growled in a voice that seemed to hum a sweet sound. As she got closer, he could feel his senses gaining. "We didn't mean to bother you, we were just looking for Dragon," Froststone answered calmly, not daring to look up.

"Just passing through? Well this will teach you to mess with any being more powerful then you." She howled, loud and deafening. They were all unconscious within seconds.

Catastrophe woke alone. He shivered from the cold. Then his eyes flew open as he realized what just happened. He was alone in the trees, and his ears were still ringing. He looked around. "Froststone!" he called. No answer. "Amber? Misilaniuse?" Still no answers. "Midnnight! Jaaws! Obsidian! Striippeess!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

He felt alone, scared, helpless. Then he heard another call. "Amber!" He gasped in releif.

He followed the noise till he found Amber, smilling in relief. Soon they had found everyone unharmed. Everyone but Froststone. They called her name throughout the forest, backtracking and circling around. No luck. Then, a few hours later, he heard a faint call. They ran towards the voice, Catastrophe in lead, untill they broke out into a clearing, or more like part of the forest where the trees had all been ripped to the ground. And crushed under one tree was Froststone. "No!" He gasped in disbelief. "No!"

"Catastrophe," she whispered. "You came."

"We, we can get you out," he was scared, he would admit it. "Come on!"

"It's too late," Froststone gasped.

"Who did this to you?" he managed to ask through tears as he clutched her fur next to his face.

"The wolf....Lunee....."

That's who attacked them. One of the legends. "Froststone?" he asked, the rage growling inside of him. "I'm going to stop this. Your death," he chocked on the word, "won't be wasted. I'll get some revenge for, for you."

"Live up to your name, Catastrophe. I will always love you, even if you fail to revenge me. Don't waist your life revenging mine. Do..,what....you....want....to....do....live....to.....your.....dream."

"No, Froststone, no. I...I will avenge you. I will kill Lunee."

Froststone breathed out for the last time and he broke out in sobs, pressing her still warm fur to his cheek. He will get revenge and rule all of Kyndom...if it was the last thing he ever did.

On his way back to Kyndomopolis, at the edge of the forest, he stood to breathe the wind in. Froststone was with him, always will be. As a spirit. Fueling his flame of revenge. He opened his eyes as a sudden yell of fear shook him to his spine. Flying towards Kyndomopolis was Dragon, one of the six legends. Was she here to help? But as he watched helplessly, a plume of black fire erupted from Dragon's mouth, licking the many buildings of his home. He watched, dumbfounded, as she destroyed his home, one of the many small cities of his kind in Kyngdom. When it was over, and Dragon gave a trumpeting roar of accomplishment, he knew, deep inside that there were no survivors. He was the last remaining representitive of Kyndomopolis. His famly was dead, his friends, the strangers he passed on the steets, dead. They were all dead. He closed his eyes in a helpless way. When he opened his eyes, he felt like two different people, the old Catastrophe, and the new one. His originally brown eyes sparkled, one the same...and one blue. He could feel the spirits of his family and friends gathering inside him. Guiding him. Of all the anger towards the legends, the most was gathering within him from the spirits of the ones to face the consequence, death. His originally brown hair was slowly turning blond, like Froststone's fur. And his cheeks were getting a new color to them, red like his rage within. He was Catastrophe. And he would rule all of Kyngdom.

I like it, it's a good story, and I love Froststone and Amber and all the others, but this isn't like Lunee! When I made her, I didn't create her to be evil! You've completely twisted her once kind personality. Please, don't do this. Lunee was supposed to be good, your making her sound evil. Maybe you could make up something else for the story, but please don't do this with Lunee!

Or how about Catastrophe only thought it was Lunee? Maybe it was, I dunno, Lunee's twin or something?

ya, okay. I just did Lunee because the others did her. But then again...greed is inside everyone. Growing. She was greedy for her hunting lands, and didn't want anyone to enter. But if you really don't want her to do that...., Gryphon (I spelled it right this time.)

I think the secretly evil one should be the unicorn (I forgot its name). 'Cause unicorns are supposed to be the embodiment of good and Western dragons are supposed to be bad. Eastern dragons are good though, and they're associated with water and rain, so a good sea dragon works.

Um, I didn't notice a story about the Power of Fin. (Uh, his/her name is Ayearth or something, right?) So....... uh, here goes, if it's fine with everyone else. (You too, Admins.)

Ayearth paused as he swam in the great dark ocean. He had sensed a tremor, something powerful leaving this world. He twitched his tail, and located what had left. One of his siblings, one of the Powers had left... or maybe their Power was contained? Ayearth couldn't know for sure. Just then, he felt currents, a boat was gliding on the surface. Ayearth surfaced, and saw a human with such cold eyes. The human sneered at Ayearth. "So dum, to surface now. A Power, not knowing that he was swimming to his demise. Hah!" Ayearth was about to move towards the human when a net was thrown over him. A net. A fishing net. Ayearth peered at the human. "You expect this rag to hold me? I am one of the more merciful Powers, and I might spare your life if you take this-" Ayearth cut himself off when a pain shot through his body. The net was hurting him, and he roared with pain. The human smirked, and took a spear from behind him. "Time to die, animal." He drove the spear into Ayearth's heart. For one moment, the he stayed, frozen in the water. Then he fell back into the ocean. As Ayearth sunk to the bottom of the ocean, a single tear fell from his eye. It did not mix with the sea water, but simply fell to the sandy lroor, glowing. When it hit the floor, a single flower sprouted in the seabed where the tear fell. The flower withered and died.... but a single petal remaind, and that petal slowly formed into an intrument with bowls carved from seashells on a table, the bowls were wet... a single voice echoed in the sea when the light died from Ayearth's eyes. It said: This intrsument, born from a Power dying, willl summon back a piece of Ayearth... that piece will embody whoever plays this intrsumant.... this Glass Armonica.....

Thanks, Moonshadow! And, um, I don't know if I spelled his name right.... (Such a cheesy pun you could spread it on toast.) (Yet another corny joke.) I mean it, I'm not sure if his name is spelled right, but it doesn't matter! :) Thanks yet again!

@ Moonshadow:

I'm probably going to sound annoying, but I really need to correct you. You wrote, "When I created [Lunee] I didn't make her to be evil", like only you created her, like I didn't help. But I also created her! We did it together! I wrote the story, and you added the wings…

I see your point, Lucy/Xiolong, and I'm sorry that I upset you. I didn't mean anything by writing "I" instead of "we". I know that you helped create Lunee, you named her and all, but I actually made her story first. I didn't write it on the power origin thread, or maybe I did but it would have been after you did. I said that your story was a lot like mine, and that we could incorporate them. I actually came up with "the Angel Wolf" before she was named "Lunee" by you. No need to get worked up about it, what matters is that we both created Lunee and that she wasn't made to be evil. When I created the Angel Wolf, she wasn't supposed to be evil. I understand you, though. When I'm afraid someone is being unfair, stealing my ideas, or stealing my credit, I feel the same way you do.
