Beginner Thread For New Kyngdomers or Those Who Want a Slightly More Relaxed Roleplay To Participate In

By relaxed, I really just mean a thread that doesn't directly alter the main plot.

Here's a link to Hazel's Kyngdom Academy thread, if you have any questions: http://www.cricketmagkids.com/chatterbox/inkwell/node/412799

Anyways, let's introduce a segment of story, hmm?

The Grasplands, located in Southeastern Kyngdom, were once a peaceful land, where people of all nations came to visit and enjoy the warm climate. But ever since the war, the Grasplands have been altered. And not in a good way.

Nations bordering Kyngdom began to take advantage of its weakness. They began to seep into the boundaries, seeking to take some of the land.

However, Catastrophe didn't want other nations meddling in his war. He began to bomb the area. The other nations left, leaving the Graspland to view him as their savior.

Ever since, the Nobyls (wealthy families that used to rule Kyngdom) have been replaced with Catastrophe's soldiers. He has begun to recruit people living in the Grasplands.

But he's not the only army in town.

The Resistance has been hiding in the alleyways and basements of towns in the Grasplands, seeking to recruit those who do not agree with Catastrophe's motives.

What side will you join? Or will you join any at all?

Remember, post your charrie sheet on the Who's Here? thread, which is located on the homepage.

Happy roleplaying!

Kirah is a dark-skinned, curly-haired Resistance member. She's a homo avian, meaning the SOCS experimented on her and gave her wings, and she has the ability to speak with animals without a cypher. She appears sharp and ruthless, but is inwardly hurting because of her terrible past. She doesn't put her trust in anybody anymore.

Kirah~

I sit casually in a stuffy tavern ridden with Catastrophe's troops. The good thing is, with my slapped-on bedge and code name, I blend in just fine with all of these idiots. Truth is, most of them hardly know anything about the war- just that Catastrophe is 'protecting' the Grasplands, and that they could return the favor by picking him some flowers.

"Ey, Ferox," a boy grunts, calling me by my code name, "You think I could ask that chick out?" He points lazily at a girl about my age.

I use my acting skills and smile slyly back. "Nah, man, no way you can compete with that," I joke, sinking back away from him. Inwardly, I'm thanking him for pointing her out- I'm pretty sure I've seen her walking around a Resistance base before, and she looks frazzled. She asks a boy named Jasper for something, and he shows her to the trapdoor.

Minutes later, a homo tenebris enters, looking like he's searching for something- and won't stop til he's got it. He lingers for a moment before turning to the bartender, who looks reluctant to give him the answers he wants.

The homo tenebris is showed the trapdoor. Speedily, I race forward and grab the door with my fingertips just before it shuts.

While he is looking arond for the girl, I remove my gun from my belt and hit him on the side of the head with it, making sure he doesn't see my face. He falls, unconscious. The girl gasps.

I look up, putting my gun away. "Hey," I whisper. "Resistance, right? I've seen you around before. Listen, could you do me a favor?" I remove some of the flowers from my pocket. "These are the flowers Catastrophe insists on collecting. I don't know what they are, I don't have the right equipment to find out. Take them back to a Resistance base, so they can find out what's so special about them. Okay? Now, we have to act like I'm taking you in for questioning when we're going out of here. And don't look suspicious!"

Dar'sava is a Homo Felis, Resistance member, and very charismatic. He probably has a crush on Kirah.

Dar'sava~

I follow Kirah into the tavern. She knocks the homo tenebris unconcious and helps the two people out of the cellar.

"Hey, you, help me find something to tie this guy up," I say to the man who was hiding.

He digs through one of the supply closets. "Here's some chains. I think they're meant for tying Thunderbirds to carriages, but they should work anyways." He hands me the chains. Kirah is getting nervous.

"By the way, my name's Dar'sava. You?"

"Jasper."

"Cool. I'll be sure to let the others know you're not a threat," I reply. "Hey, mind tagging along with me to drop this guy off at a safehouse? I'll need some help sneaking him out of town."

Jasper nods. "Got it." We tie the homo tenebris up. Just after we do, he wakes up.

"Hey, Kirah?" Ember says. "The tenebris is awake."

Kirah looks over. "Jasper, take this. You might need it, dealing with that thing." She hands Jasper a pistol.

Lucky for us, the homo tenebris isn't fully awake yet. Jasper and I manage to sneak him out a back door, where my ATV is waiting.

~~~~~
Eniyan~
I drop to the ground. Someone lands behind me.
Before I can whirl around to spot them, something crashes painfully into the side of my head. All goes dark.
When I wake up, I'm bound, can't think straight, and four strange people are standing above me.
"Hey," I try to snap, but it comes out as a strange moan instead. Curse of the tenebris. You don't stay unconcious for long, but you stay half awake for quite some time.
A homo felis and human pick me up and sneak me out, then shove me in the back of an ATV.
I take a breath. "Uh, thanks," I say as Kirah hands me a silver pistol. After placing the Tenebris in the ATV, I quickly pace back into the Tavern's back door.
"We'll be gone for a while?" Ember nods. "Right, I'll get my bags."
The atmosphere makes me sick. It's funny how a minute ago, I had no reason to run. Now I have every reason to. Why should I trust Ember or any other Resistance member, for that matter. I have no ties to them, and they never did anything for me... as I hoist my pack on my back, Sam quietly steps into the back room, stopping in the wooden door frame. I stop my movement. The air taisted stale.
"Look, I- I... didn't want to."
I glance at the floor.
"You had my trust, Sam. You-" My voice falters. I turn away, tears threatening to break away.
"Goodbye Sam."
I leave the tavern, abandoning my only friend who cared. Until today. This hideous day. I walk back to the ATV where the Resistance members were already packed and ready to leave.
"Ready?" Kirah quickly asks.
"Yeah. I'm ready."
Dar'sava~~
Jasper walks back into the tavern. I help Ember sneak her stuff from her ATV (which we unfortunately have to abandon for safety) to mine.
"What safehouse are we going to go to?" Kirah asks. I shrug.
"There's one in Linfield that has a small prison. Should we go there? It's just south of here," Ember suggests.
"Sounds good," I reply . Jasper walks back out.
"Ready?" Kirah asks.
"Yeah. I'm ready." Jasper gets into the ATV. Ember pulls out a map.
"Okay, there's a path leading there. Think we should take it?"
"This late in the day, nobody should be on it. I vote yes," Kirah says. The rest of us murmur assent.
I drive the ATV, Ember guiding me with use of her map. We don't run into any issues on the way there, though Jasper and Kirah keep their guns trained on the homo tenebris the entire time.
"There it is." Ember points forwards. It's a large farmhouse, outside of Linfield. There are lights on in the windows and a herd of buffalo grazing peacefully in the fields behind the house. A tall coyote anthro approaches us.
"Identification?" He asks. Kirah shows him her badge.
"Captain R'oko, at your service," He says. "Come in quick. We've got to deal with your prisoner."
So, just to get this straight, Kyngdom's timeline is basically the same as ours irl? As in, cars and motorcycles and stuff?
Jira~
I run out of the building just as the ATV pulls away.
Time for a little theft, I think gleefully. Looking around, I see a human with a running dirtbike nearby. Less than two minutes later, I'm speeding after the ATV and it's occupants.
That homo tenebris' stuff could be very useful to me, I think to myself. But I can't be caught. I've never been able to find out if this is true, but if I was a town that I had stolen from, I'd have clear knowledge of the fact that I was a criminal.
No one appreciates someone who can't get a job, and has next to no money. Maybe I can get in with this person named Catastrophe that I keep hearing about. He sounds like a good person.
After a while, I see the ATV up ahead. It's stopped at a large farmhouse, and a unidentifiable figure seems to be talking to them. I slow down, uneasily, and then as they head toward the farmhouse I decide that I'd better try to get there so I can find someplace to hide. I go wide around them, but the figure, that I now recognize as a coyote anthro I believe, sees me.
"Hey!" he calls. "Who are you?"
@Jira - Kyngdom has everything--science, magic, steampunk, sci fi, normal stuff. (Sailhaven was a floating steampunk city (it crashed though), and then there are the Powers, and then there's stuff from our world). I guess you could say Kyngdom is on all timelines.
Ember~
When the enemy dropped into the cellar, my heart leapt into my chest. I quietly gripped my tiny gun, readjusting my grip with sweaty hands. The gun seemed to mock me as it gleamed in the faint light seeping through the open cellar door.
All I could see were barrels and dusty stone floor. All I could smell was stale air. I couldn't hear anything, either, but I couldn't let that lull me into ease.
Then--I saw a hood rise up over the barrel tops. Halfway across the room. Scanning the racks and barrels. My body shook--what kind of face would I see under that hood?
Cold wind blew past my shoulders and I heard a swoosh.
A thunk.
I glanced up again--and the hood was gone, replaced by a female head. I didn't move, drawing my knees in closer.
After a moment, she whispered to me. "Hey. Resistance, right? I've seen you around before. Listen, could you do me a favor?"
Hesitantly, I stood, revealing my position, nervous until I saw her put her gun away.
A Homo avian! I thought in wonder, admiring her wings.
"Thank you--so much." I crawled out from my hiding place, disbelieving of this turn of events. And then--freezing--I spied her Song of War bird badge.
Kirah quickly introduced herself before drawing a fistful of white flowers from her pocket, holding them out to me. She explained Catastrophe's mission to gather them--and I took the specimens gratefully, realizing she wasn't a danger to me.
"These are hard to come by," I thanked her.
We crawled out of the cellar, dragging the assassin roughly behind us. In the kitchen, Jasper and a Homo felis searched for chains to tie the enemy up with.
As we bundled the slightly-conscious assassin out the back door, where Dar'sava's ATV awaited, I peeked around to the front, where my ATV still sat. Sadly, it would be irresponsible to drive it anymore. The assassin could have sneaked a tracker on it while I was inside. The others helped me transfer my things to Dar'sava's ATV.
Back at the other ATV, the assassin was secured and tied. Jasper and Dar'sava mounted the seat and turned on the vehicle.
I suggested we head to Linfield, where one of our 'Window Houses' was. 'Window House' was our code for any of the more open safehouses. They were hubs for either transferring prisoners or recruiting new members (or both)--called 'Window Houses' because they were kind of in plain sight, but still effective.
We piled onto the ATV and then we were off to Linfield. Just as we were given the all clear to head up the driveway--we were halfway up the road--Captain R'oko let out a bark. "Hey! Who are you!"
I cringed. "Don't make it so obvious!" I hissed under my breath, and I knew his superb ears ha been more than able to pick up my outburst. "This is a ranch--not--a base--" I was still on edge from earlier, and I wanted to sink back into the comfort of disguise. I glanced behind us and saw that R'oko had shouted at a shadowy figure way down the hill.
"It'll be fine. The safehouse has lasted this long," I murmured to Dar'sava and Kirah. "R'oko will meet us inside and we can get all this settled." I heaved a sigh. A trip to look for flowers had turned into such a mess.
I sorta wrote this on the way to school and couldn't post it because my school's web filter blocks the CB, and by the time I got home more stuff had happened. It's so long because I had to add on a bunch at the end. :P
Eniyan~~
There's shouting from the coyote anthro.
"Get him inside, the homo felis and I will deal with the elf," the anthro said. Dar'sava gets out and they walk down the hill , towards the newcomer.
The others forcefully shove me out of the ATV. The Homo Avian shoves her gun into her back.
"I've been here before, the prison's in the basement," Ember whispers into the homo avian's ear.  With the help from the man from the tavern, they manage to shove me into a cell down there.
"We should probably  watch him till R'oko and Dar'sava get back," The homo avian says.
"Good idea," Jasper replies.
My hands are still bound, so I can't attack them. My head has finally cleared.
"So, who are you?" Ember asks , looking at me.
I don't reply, glaring at her instead.
"Why were you after her?" Jasper asks. I still keep silent.
"Not one to be interrogated, I guess," Kirah says. "Maybe R'oko will have some sort of trick up his sleeve.
~~~

Dar'sava ~~

R'oko and I head down the gentle hill. The newcomer is a green -skinned elf. She looks strangely guilty.

"So, what brings you to our ranch?" I say, not trusting R'oko's lying abilities .

She looks around. "Ummm... Just wandering."

"I see. Well, feel free to spend the night. Don't want you to be out alone in the dark," I say in a friendly voice . R'oko gives me a look, but I ignore it.

Kirah~

Dar'sava slows as we come across one of Catastrophe's generals. There's a flurry of panic when he says he needs to "deal with our prisoner", but he's soon distracted by an elven figure in the shadows.

"Hey! Who are you?" he shouts. The girl- Ember, I think?- groans from behind me. "This is a base- not- a ranch-"

I suddenly realize how suspicious we all must look, with our eyes trained on the homom tenebris, our supposed ally. I begin to panic a bit on the inside.

"It'll be fine. The safehouse has lasted this long," Ember whispers to Dar'sava and I. "R'oko will meet us inside and we can get all this settled."

I think quickly. "We could make it look like it was no big deal, and convince him to let us handle you on our own, then sneak you out," I suggest.

"That could work," Dar'sava agrees slowly.

"What about him?" Jasper beckons toward the still-hazy homo tenebris. I look him in the eyes.

"Alright, listen. You better play along, pretend we're on the same side, or else I will shoot you. Got it? I don't want to, but I'm not afraid of it," I whisper sternly, never looking away, never breaking concentration.

"I wouldn't doubt her, if I were you," Dar'sava chimes in.

"R'oko's coming back!" Ember hisses hastily. I give the tenebris one last, hard look, then train my gun on Ember's head.

R'oko is dragging the elven girl with him. "This scum is coming with your prisoner," he says. "Follow me."

I wasn't sure which post version of their view towards Jira to take, so I just took Soren's. Also, is this "Window House" with the Resistance or Catastrophe?

Jira~

I follow the coyote anthro, R'oko, as he leads the others into the farmhouse.
What are they doing here? I wonder. From the looks of it it's just an old-- farmhouse...
A thought strikes me. What if it's not just an old farmhouse? I try to lean closer to the others, but R'oko pulls me back. I hunch my shoulders, annoyed, and decide that if I'm going to find out anything about these people, much less get something out of it, I'm going to have to play along with their obnoxious game.

~

I was thinking that whoever it is that's on Catastrophe's side (I'm getting mixed up with these characters' alliances) could like, convince Jira to join Catastrophe?

Ahh wait, is R'oko with the  Resistance or Catastrophe? I'm confused.

R'oko is supposed to be a Resistance captain. I think Soren posted before reading my post from Eniyan's perspective. There aren't any of Catastrophe's generals there. Do we just want to backtrack to my post from Eniyan's  perspective? He's the only member of Catastrophe there and he's the prisoner. I think Soren thought the safehouse was a Catastrophe safehouse.

Oh! I think people thought I meant Kirah showed him her Catastrophe badge, I was thinking she was showing him the Resistance badge. We can go off of Soren's post of we want. Do we want R'oko to be Catastrophe or Resistance? I'd written him as Resistance, but...

I don't care, but since from what I've heard (I think), Eniyan is supposed to be converted to the Resistance, I think it would be cool to have R'oko be in Catastrophe's army, so he can get Jira to join Catastrophe?

I think it's either a) R'oko is Resistance and we just let him lead the group (besides Eniyan) to a safe house or b) he's Catastrophe and they persuade/sneak their way out and to the safe house. I think option b makes less sense, though; as you pointed out, Catastrophe's generals aren't in that area.

As for Jira, maybe Eniyan could trun her over to the dark side...?
