Beginner Thread For New Kyngdomers or Those Who Want a Slightly More Relaxed Roleplay To Participate In

By relaxed, I really just mean a thread that doesn't directly alter the main plot.

Here's a link to Hazel's Kyngdom Academy thread, if you have any questions: http://www.cricketmagkids.com/chatterbox/inkwell/node/412799

Anyways, let's introduce a segment of story, hmm?

The Grasplands, located in Southeastern Kyngdom, were once a peaceful land, where people of all nations came to visit and enjoy the warm climate. But ever since the war, the Grasplands have been altered. And not in a good way.

Nations bordering Kyngdom began to take advantage of its weakness. They began to seep into the boundaries, seeking to take some of the land.

However, Catastrophe didn't want other nations meddling in his war. He began to bomb the area. The other nations left, leaving the Graspland to view him as their savior.

Ever since, the Nobyls (wealthy families that used to rule Kyngdom) have been replaced with Catastrophe's soldiers. He has begun to recruit people living in the Grasplands.

But he's not the only army in town.

The Resistance has been hiding in the alleyways and basements of towns in the Grasplands, seeking to recruit those who do not agree with Catastrophe's motives.

What side will you join? Or will you join any at all?

Remember, post your charrie sheet on the Who's Here? thread, which is located on the homepage.

Happy roleplaying!

Smoke is a gray cat with a Cypher on her collar (that’s still a thing, right?). Her owners are bakers who are sympathetic to Catastrophe, but she works for the Resistance as a spy. She’s very curious and will go to great lengths to learn more.

Smoke~

I pad silently along the side of the road, on my usual morning run that just happens to go by all of the local Resistance safehouses. I’ve almost gotten bored of this. I mean, they’re pretty well defended, so it’s not like... wait.

I move in to take a closer look at the tracks outside the last house on my route. There are definite signs of a kerfuffle. Smells like Catastrophe versus the Resistance. Head to the ground, I follow the tracks the way they left, hoping to find and help the Resistance members before they’re long gone.

Some time later, I come across a group standing around, tensions raised. All sorts of different species, but they seem to be working together. And, yes, there’s a pile of dead and unconscious bodies, all with the signature crest of Catastrophe. I emerge from hiding and meow loudly to get their attention.

”Hi! I’m Smoke. Do you guys need any help?”

~Griffe

I've followed the group this far, and i think they're safe. I leap from a tree and land on the ground lightly, holding my hands in the air. "Who are you?!" Demands one,  Enyian, I believe.

"Look," I growl, "Catastrophe's searching for you. If you want a new safehouse, and to live, come with me." Some one unsheathes a sword, but before they can even move I have them in a headlock, a dagger at their throat. "Don't be idiots." I growl, and release them. "Follow me. Or not, I don't care."

Dar'sava~

I recognize Smoke as a Resistance spy, but I don't know who this other newcomer is.

"I'll wait for Kirah. We can always head up north," I begin, "But Eniyan, Cadao, and Ember, you guys are in a lot of danger. You should go with him."

"What about me?" Jasper asks. I turn to him.

"It's up to you. Either you could come with me to a Resistance base--but then you'd have to join the Resistance or at the very least give them information, or you can forever spend your life hiding with the newcomer."

Eniyan looks at the newcomer. "I'll go with you. If it's a trap, it doesn't matter. Catastrophe will find me eventually."

Ember~

With a comforting hand on Cadao's shoulder--I am most at ease when putting others at ease--I turn to stare at the newcomer with more than a little mistrust in my eyes.

Eniyan, who only hours ago wanted me dead, declares that he will go with the newcomer. At this, I am relieved rather than perturbed: I can sense that Eniyan will not harm us--especially not Cadao--and I know he will be more than able to take on this new young man.

"I want to see Cadao to safety," I announce. "I will go with you as well."

Kimi~

"Davina," I wonder in a lighthearted tone, "you've been adventuring a lot longer than me. How do you deal with the constant 'I might die today' feeling?"

"I don't," she replies. I wrinkle my snout, perplexed.

She tosses a lightweight bag of clothes into my arms. "Think of it the other way. 'Hey, you might just live to see tomorrow.'"

"Huh."

I open the bag to find a sand-colored tunic and some colorful harem-type pants. "Ooh, tell me these things have pockets!" I'm pleased to find that they do.

We're changing into some Grasplands-esque outfits before we set out to find a Resistance safehouse. Even though it's winter, the Grasplands are gusty, dry, and H O T, so these clothes are a welcome addition to our repertoire. Additionally, General Hvite has given us a run-down of the city, a rough map, and (most importantly), our orders.

Finding the Resistance is one thing. I'm excited about that. But getting involved with the Black Skull sounds...terrifying, to say the least. At the same time, I wonder what kind of juicy information we'll uncover on our mission.

"The kingdom of upright cats is in the southeast," I remark quietly after changing into my new outfit. "I wonder if anyone here will have known..." I trail off thoughtfully, somberly.

"Her real name was Fahada," Davina recalls, remembering what Tsuki told us. Perhaps we can put Fahada's friends and family--if they happen to cross our path--at peace. At the very least, her Resistance friends will need to know.

We're all suited up now and ready to go. We've got our plan--now it's just a matter of slipping into the city and finding a safehouse, going unnoticed by Catastrophe's people.

Unnerving, yes, but hey...We might just live to see tomorrow.

Davina~~

I slip into my new outfit. It's a bit plainer than the usual black leather jacket and black pants I typically wear, but it will at least keep me from getting heat stroke. The top is shortsleeved, and a forest green. A  leather strip tied around my waist serves as a belt. I wear thin tan leggings tucked into a pair of well-worn work boots.

Kimi begins to speak as I pull my hair into three braids. The two small ones in front have leather strips covered in beads woven through them. The long one in the back is tied with some colorful strips of cloth.

"The kingdom of upright cats is in the southeast," Kimi says in a small voice, as if speaking to herself. "I wonder if anyone here would have known..."

"Her real name was Fahada," I remind Kimi. Though finding her family is unlikely, we should be able to let the Resistance know of her fate. They might also want to know where she has been buried...

It's strange to think of her as being anyone other than Deeja Sagestone. Though I think bringing peace to those that knew her would be better for all of us. Even if they will never quite understand all that she sacrificed.

I finished braiding my hair and slip on a bag of our stuff. We're ready to go now. I'm excited to be into Kyngdom once more. I wonder what nonsense we'll get ourselves wrapped into this time.

We double check our bags to make sure we've got everything, then we leave our rooms. Hviti is standing in the foyer.

"Good luck, you two. There's an ATV waiting for you out there," He explains. "If everything goes well, I should be hearing from you soon."

"Well, expect the unexpected," I say. With that, Kimi and I set off.

Kimi~

"Hey Davina, where's the key?" I wonder as we walk across the warm, sunbaked parking lot to find our ATV. There are lots of cool vehicles here, including an armored car that I would just love to get my hands on.

Davina holds it up and jangles it. "I've got the key."

"Ah, thanks; I can take it now--"

Davina smirks knowingly. "No no Kimi, I will be the one doing the driving."

"Pff."

"Kimi, you hardly know how to drive."

"I gotta learn at some point!"

Davina takes the driver's seat without another word and revs up the ATV.

"I'll just keep the passenger seat warm for you, then," I sigh.

Before long, we've driven out of sight of the Sanukan outpost. The city unfolds before us, and soon, Davina has driven us downtown, where the sand-colored buildings are old and crumbly, and new buildings create mazes of alleyways. The people here are dust-blown and dry-looking, and I can hear evidence of at least two street markets in the area.

The first step of finding a Resistance safehouse is finding the inhabitants of said safehouse. Resistance agents are probably most willing to be found in a crowded place where it would be hard for authorities to sight them. This crowded place fits the bill.

Jira~

"Do you know all the horrible things Catastrophe's done? Are you sure you want to help him?" My mouth drops open at Kirah's words.
"Catastrophe saved us!" I snarl.
"maybe it looks that way," Kirah murmurs, "but he's no hero."
I cock my head, trying to decide how to answer that. Kirah seems to geuinely believe that Catastrophe is an enemy. "Look," I say finally. "I'm going to Catastrophe. If I get there and find out he's evil and all you make him sound like, I'll either leave or.... spy on him, or something. Sound good to you?" I don't believe that that will be the case, and I think Kirah knows it.

Wanderer~

As I patrol  I here this argument, go to Jira and say
" Kirah is right, Catastrophe has killed tim and again only for power he is the reason I have amnesia.
Why I almost died everything he did that." I tremble with rage but force myself to continue patroling.

Wanderer is human. He has no idea how old he is, where he came from, his name, nothing. He can shapeshift into an owl but gnerally does not.
 Character stuff at Who's here.
 Wanderer~

I was running. Catastrophe's men had almost caught up with me! I ran into an alley and waited. Catastrophe's men ran after me. I drew my daggers knocked out both them with the hilts. Before the other men could catch with me I shifted into an owl and flew away.

I flew to a house where some of the resistance wer based. a captain ,I forget his name says
"We need you to  scope out a town." I gulp nervously but nonetheless accept. A whole town!

Kirah~

"Look, I'm going to Catastrophe. If I get there and find out he's evil and all you make him sound like, I'll either leave or.... spy on him, or something. Sound good to you?"

It doesn't, and I make it known, but it doesn't seem like there's any convincing her.

"Fine," I say. "Go ahead. I'll tell the other Resistance members not to kill you if they see you, I guess. You don't really seem like a terrible person, and I don't get why you can't see that Catastrophe is, but." I shrug. She turns and leaves without another word. I'm fairly certain she won't snitch on us now; it's not like we were terrible to her or anything.

When I get back to the place the others were, Dar'sava is the only one left. Waiting for me.

"Hey," he says. I don't bother to respond. It's the middle of the night now and a lot has happened and I'm tired and Claaws, why does it always have to be Dar'sava.

He plows on. "Ember and Eniyan went with Cadao, and---"

"Dar'sava. Please. Let me get back to where I was supposed to be literally this whole time, okay."

"Well, don't you want to-"

"No, I really don't." I start walking away, toward Catastrophe's army's barracks.

"Kirah, wait," Dar'sava says. I turn, exhausted.

"Stop being so nice to me!! Just. Just stop. Okay? I don't... need your help. I don't." I turn away again, not looking back. I really wish I could hate him.

I'm feeling up to roleplaying now (also Kyngdom is like, really dead right now) so I'll make a short little post.

Dar'sava~~

R'oko, Jasper, and Smoke head off to together, to another safehouse.* Eniyan, Ember and Cadao go with Griffe.

I stay behind, waiting for Kirah. It's really late. There's a part of me that wants to just abandon Kirah and find somewhere to sleep, but I force myself to stay awake. And admittedly, I kind of want to talk to her, but just the two of us. You know, as, uh, friends.

She finally emerges from the thin copse of trees, looking exhausted and very done.

"Hey," I say in a pleasant voice. She looks like she could use a pick-me-up of sorts, but she doesn't reply. I continue anyways.

"Ember and Eniyan went with Cadao, and--"

"Dar'sava. Please," she interrupts, "Let me go back to where I was supposed to be literally this whole time, okay?"

"Well, but don't you want to--"

"No, I really don't." She turns left and starts walking away.

"Kirah, wait," I insist. She's being sort of bullheaded.

"STOP BEING SO NICE TO ME!" She snaps, whirling around. I instinctively step backwards.  "Just. Just stop. Okay? I don't... need your help. I don't."

She sounds like she's trying to convince herself. She whirls back around and a small piece of paper falls from her pocket.

I pick it up, and reach out to give to her, but she's already gone. I sigh and look down at the wrinkled paper.

It’s going to be okay. -Your friend, Wen

I refold the torn paper and put it into my pocket. Oh, Kirah.

What is she hiding?

~~~
*I was thinking Kimi and Davina could find these three to form an alliance with the Resistance, if that's ok.
