Harry Potter RP

Harry Potter RP

Harry Potter RP

I recently watched Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and felt the urge to have a "Tri-Wizard Tournament" RP but this time with a twist so that not only three people participate. This is my idea. Instead of it being a Tri-Wizard Tournament, it's a Multi-Wizard Tournament. That means that the champions don't only come from Beau-Baton, Durmstrang or Hogwarts but they can also come from some wizarding school that you made up. The tournament itself will take place at Hogwarts.

I'll post my character later. Please join! I think this RP could be pretty fun. Plus, I don't think we've had an HP RP in a while.

One more important question: should this be before, during or after Harry?

@ Gollum: Yes, I believe portkeys are timed, because in The Deathly Hallows, several portkeys show up at the Weasley's without their occupants. And I like the idea of Neville still being at Hogwarts!!!

Yay RPs! Mathis~

The airport is big. I rather like it, apart from the fact that we're limited to strictly Boggle things only. No wizardry allowed.

"Now, remember," Profesor Cadge reminds me and my two peers who will be competing in the tournament. "In Europe they're called 'muggles,' not 'boggles.'"

"Boggles sounds better," argued Caden, who is in the level above me.

"Yes, but we don't want to offend and confuse anyone," Cadge points out. "Ah, here's our flight. G22."

A few moments later, we board the plane. I sit next to Rosa, and Caden, Professor Cadge, and a man in a sharp business suit sit in the aisle across from us.

Rosa smells of cheese. She looks kind of nervous. I have to assume she's nervous about the time lag, she hasn't been following Cadge's instructions to be living in the time zone we'll be in shortly. I, on the other hand, have.

The plane starts to move. It's exciting, riding a plane. Not as exciting as magic, or riding on broomsticks, but more exciting than studying law, which we do sometimes so of anyone dares ask what goes on in the Cabinet of Irregulars Private School, they will think that we really are a law school, preparing us to go to a good law college or whatever.

All I've learned from it is that Boggles have some crazy rules and ideas of how to handle things.

"Mathis."

"What?" I look up to face Rosa.

"Please stop that."

"Stop what?"

"Staring intently at my shoes. You've been at it for a time now."

"Oh. Sorry." I get distracted and lost in my thought quit a bit. I usually end up staring at something. This time it was Rosa's shoes.

Some amount of hours later, after finishing multiple novels I had packed, our plane finnally lands. We stand up and exit. Cadge pulls us aside once we are in the airport. The man in the sharp suit walks past us.

I think I know how Rosa feels now.

The man in the sharp suit is staring very intently at me as he walks away.

I'd do the RP during Harry, or maybe after.

Here's my made-up character:

Name: Rosalind Dawn

Age: 13

Status: Muggle-born

Appearance: Slightly wavy reddish-orange hair with natural golden highlights, peach skin with slightly golden undertones, blue-green eyes

Personality: Very intelligent (skilled in witchcraft) yet modest about it, kind and friendly, helpful and unselfish, non rule-breaking but loves having fun, adventurous, sporty (wizard/witch sports, of course)

School: Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizadry

House: Ravenclaw (though the Sorting Hat thought about putting her in Gryffindor or Hufflepuff)

Favorite subjects: Charms, Transfiguration, and Defense Against the Dark Arts

Favorite teachers (former or current): Professors McGonagall and Lupin

Hobbies: Practicing spells, reading, playing Quidditch (or just riding a broomstick)

Before I post I was wondering who the headmaster is...?

And is this assuming that we're going to Hogwarts for the Tournament, or somewhere else?

The Tournament is at Hogwarts.

How long after Harry are we doing this again? Depending, I suppose Headmaster could be McGonagall, as Gollum pointed out Hogwarts' viewpoint on retirement, or it could be someone we made up.

McGonagall was pretty old in canon, though... and it's a "long time" since the fourth book (as decided in Elizabeth's first post).  Hogwarts might not have a retirement plan, but it still allows death.  Although there is the ghost teacher.  But Head Masters die and then stop being Head Masters, don't they?  And also like all the other teachers except that stupid ghost.  Since we have Neville still here, maybe one of the minor characters from the series, especially someone slightly older.  I kind of think Cho Chang would be fun, but that might not be a good idea.  OR DRACO.  That would be sub-plot-tastic.  That word was hyphen-tastic.  I'm starting to sound like John Green in "A Cheer-tastic Christmas Miracle".  John Green-tastic.

Also, I think we should relatively agree on events before the RP advances much further, so we don't have too many paradoxes.  I suggest a Quidditch event with rigged Bludgers or another twist as formulated in my first post.

Continuing the re-invention of the Multi-Wizard Tournament, since we have five schools and two people participating from Hogwarts, there remain two wrinkles that should be taken care of.

1. Assuming all RPers are magically in the Tournament, should we have two participants per school (we can make up the person from our school, except the case of Hogwarts, in which case they both write from their own characters' POV) so we don't have the whole unfair two Hogwarts competitors ordeal from book four?  Although if people are into that sort of thing...

2. Seeing as we have five schools (and possibly ten contestants), are we ignoring Beax-Batons and Durmstrang, seeing as we would probably have a huge amount of characters to keep track of if we had one (possibly two) from those schools as well?

I'm in favor of forgetting Beax-Batons and Durmstrang unless someone wants to have multiple characters (which has not been established allowable or not allowable) or more people come in the middle.  I also like two from each school, you can RP from both POVs or just one.

And another thing:

Seeing as we are equals here, how are we going to end this without a massive combined winning of the tournament?  Or that could happen.  That would be a bit of an anticlimactic ending, though.

Are these too many suggestion rule things?  Maybe.  Discussion of these things are highly encouraged, especially Elizabeth, as she started the RP.

This post was run-on sentence-tastic.

Spamster in his spamster-tastic cage says oxww.  Ox World Wide?  That's a great moving company name...

1. I have no problem ditching Durmstrang and Beaubaton Academy because (as Gollum already mentioned) those would be a lot of people to keep track of. I also like the idea of having two people from each school. It would be getting a little Hunger-Gamesy, I guess, but I find that better than having something like in The Goblet of Fire happen. Unless you think that would add to the plot. Maybe we should vote on it.

I’ve made a list of all the participants. So if we decide on two people from EACH school then I would have Kyary and Aimi competing in the Tournament since they hate each other.

Hogwarts: Danielle Wood; Rosalind Dawn

Japanese Wizarding Academy for Young Witches and Wizards: Kyary Smith; (Aimi Adachi)

Snow Queen Scandinavian School for Witches and Wizards: Astrid Grimsenn

Dream Academy of Witchcraft for Young Ladies: Cynthia Parker

The Cabinet of Irregulars Private School: Mathis Silver

2. Events. I think it’s a good idea to decide on these before, too, because otherwise we might have some problems. If we do a Quidditch event I think it should be the first or second event. Also, I always like writing underwater scenes so if everyone is okay with it, I think it would be cool to have an event in the Black Lake. Any other suggestions? And how many events should there be? Three? Or more?

3. Headmasters. I like the idea of Cho Chang as Headmistress, although Draco would be “plot-tastic”, as Gollum said. What do the rest of you think?

4. Winners. Is there anyone who really would like their charrie to be a winner? I don’t really think that Aimi is winning material, actually, so I have no problem with her not winning. I think we should have one winner because having a bunch of winners is a little much. I could also just write all the names on slips of paper and draw them out of the hat and whoever is chosen is the winner. Thoughts on that?

1. I have no problem ditching Durmstrang and Beaubaton either. Forgive me, but their characters annoyed me a lot. And two people from each school is cool with me.

2. I like the idea of a Quidditch match type thing, though we should plan that too. I assume it wouldn't be like a traditional Quidditch match.

3. I personally, really like the idea of Draco! But I'm cool with whatever.

4. Uh.. I can go one way or the other. Danielle likes to fight, and compete. So she could win, but she can also go down. You could also draw a name. I'm cool with whatever.

Oh, I forgot to add, I like the idea of an underwater challenge too!

Throwing around ideas! YAAAAAAAAAY! *Flings arms around in unessisary manners of wild muppetness*

1) Why are we numbering these?

1.25) Get back to the subject!

1.5) Which is...?

1.75) *Sigh...*

2) Serious now. So. I also find with the number of schools we have, we can most definitly throw away the two from the book. And I guess we should all have two people participating from each school.... *Eyes Caden and Rosa* My school only has three students, so...

3) Headmaster. Or mistress. I think either Cho Chang or Draco sounds great. We could do a character not everyone really remembers, like Dean Thomas.

4) Events. So we're doing a Quiddich one, possibly, and another one with the lake? How many events are there? It would be intresting to do an event with some sort of mythical creatures.....

5) Someone should win. Not Mathis. Or any of his CoI peers. OR there is no winner! Because... because Hogwarts blows up!
No. Bad idea. Don't listen to me.
Though it would be sort of intresting if they couldn't award a winner for some reason...

Zaga says "Nnoo." Zaga doesn't like any of my utterly ingenius ideas.

Hogwarts blowing up?! Oh my. :D

Dean Thomas would be an awesome headmaster, I think. But if we don't want a winner to be awarded because something happens then I would take Draco and make him (still) evil or something...

An event with a mythical creature or creatures? Awesome! What about a hippogrif (sp.?) or those skeleton horses (name?). What were you thinking of, Theo?

If we're doing two students per school, Astrid (obviously) and the as yet un-named Quidditch boy are from Snow Queen.

Underwater and mythical creature events sound awesome!

Astrid--

"Oh my gosh!" one of the girls says.

"Someone is going to Apparate from Hogwarts in a few minutes, guys, just relax," the boy says to the screaming girls and boys who are rolling their eyes.

"Students, please calm down." Headmistress Danielsson apparates in front of our frenzied group. "I am sure a professor will arrive from Hogwarts shortly.  In the meantime, you may as well come inside or everyone will freeze."

"Couldn't we fly to Hogwarts?" I ask, bouncing on my toes. "It can't be that far, and wouldn't take as long as them making an entire new Portkey..."

"I would normally let you do that, Miss Grimsenn, but with the storm I don't think I am allowed to do that," Headmistress Danielsson says. "Come on, let's get inside the school, we haven't got all day-"

"Hello, Erica." A woman with long black hair Apparates onto the scene, wearing Hogwarts robes. "We apologize for Mr. Longbottom, he isn't exactly the most efficient wand in the shop..."

"I understand completely, Ms. Chang, but why you would have such an incompetent wizard sent to escort my students is beyond me.  Snow Queen students are known for being extremely resourceful, but this level of disorganization is just preposterous!" Headmistress Danielsson chides.

"Just wait until you see our new Headmaster, Erica," the woman says.

"My name is Headmistress Danielsson, Ms. Chang!"

"The Portkey is about to go off, if you would be so kind as to let me take your students to avoid further problems I would be much obliged."

"Fine.  Students, this is Cho Chang of the Hogwarts school staff," Headmistress Danielsson says. "You are expected to treat her with respect and manners and follow all of her directions-"

"The Portkey, Erica," Ms. Chang says.  She holds out a stuffed giraffe.  Everyone grabs their luggage and holds on to a piece of the animal.

"My name is Ulrik, by the way," the boy says as he takes hold of a stuffed ear.

"I'm Astrid," I say, making sure I have a good grip on Lagynede's cage.

"Figures," Ulrik says.  The Portkey takes off.

I guess I'll post, too. We certainly should decide on a headmaster and plan events soon.

Kyary-

"Students!" Miss Miri called through the buzz of talk. We had just finished having a final snack of "real" food as Miss Miri put it. She warned us that the British Wizards had interesting cooking ideas - supposedly they even made juice out of pumpkins - so we should eat up before leaving. "In only minutes we will have arrived." The bus gave a little jolt as it descended, causing Miss Miri to fall into one of the plush couches. She stayed seated, probably assuming that if she stood up she would fall back down again. She cleared her throat. "Anyway, when we are at Hogwarts I want you to remember that we are guests. We will treat the school and grounds that way." Her eyes focused on a few well-known troublemakers. "When we step out of this bus I want you to smile and wave because we are representing our school and Hogwarts should not think us sullen." With that the bus gave one last jolt and landed, throwing Aimi over in the process.

"Smile and wave. Smile and wave," was the last thing Miss Miri said before exiting the bus.

Hogwarts looked nothing like in the books I had read. The castle was huge, a giant stone structure surrounded by green hills and forests. The colors were vivid, surreal even, and the evening sky's color resembled that of cotton candy. Throngs of students dressed in black robes and wearing different colored ties crowded every open space, attempting to catch a glimpse of us. I smiled and waved, just as Miss Miri had told us to.

Caught up in the beauty of Hogwarts, I did not notice that the group had suddenly skidded to a halt so I ran into whoever was in front of me. Luckily, whoever it was was too intent on studying the scene in front of us to take much notice of me. I craned my neck and caught a glimpse of a group of students dressed in heavy winter coats, lying on the ground and holding some object that I could not quite see.

A woman, who was clearly Asian, had stood up and was talking to Miss Miri. I strained to hear them but only caught bits. "There were problems...portkey...Scandinavian School..."  Finally Miss Miri turned to us.

"Students, this is Ms. Chang, one of the Hogwarts professors. She will guide us and the students from Snow Queen Scandinavian School for Witches and Wizards to our rooms." With that we followed Ms. Chang into the castle.
