Spontaneous RP!

Spontaneous RP!

Sometimes I feel like we get so caught up in the developement and rules of a RP that it dies before we even make it very far (I know that's happened to me...Combat Cliff RPG, Griffinfeather RPG the first...and more).

So, let's just do some writing.

two rules.

1. Put forth your absolute best. Even if it's not going to be published or maybe no one else but me will read it. It's good for your writing. Trust me.

2. Make sure everything lines up! Mostly!! Inserting random flying unicorns is okay, but killing a character off and then making them reappear might be a little confusing.

If you are still confuzzled, check out this thread to see what I mean:

http://www.cricketmagkids.com/chatterbox/inkwell/node/65463

just make up a character and join the story. You can be a character I've mentioned or somebody new. My characters are Pheonix and Carlena.

Without further ado, let us begin.

~

"Carlena scratched at the wall's smooth surface, her heart pounding so loud she could hardly think. The dark rectangle seemed to close in around her, pressing in on all sides; squeezing her lungs flat and yanking away all the oxygen. The air was hot and sizzling with frusteration and fear. Throwing herself against the wall, Carlena melted onto the floor. She was stuck. Enclosed in a horrible crystal box while her own dear sister, Caroll, was set on destroying Jewel Academy. All she could do was sit here, helpless and terrified out of her wits, while Caroll did away with everything she worked towards. Carlena tried to take a calming breath and found she could not breath. The walls were closing in...her eyes whirled crazily around the shadows; searching for an exit. If Cassey doesn't get the children out of the academy in time, they'll all... Carlena let out a frusterated gasp of despiration. Oh come on, Carlena! You can't let a little claustrophobia defeat you, girl! She said to herself. The spunky Galaxy Witch sat up slowly and brushed back the gigantic bush of chalk-white, ankle length hair from her damp forehead. Carlena then—"

"Pheonix! Jaihra's on the phone!" My older sister called from downstairs.

"COMING!" I yelled back, dropping The Charming Adventures of Carlena the Galaxy Witch to the floor. Galexia looks up at me in surprise from her nest of pillows on the floor, her eyes clouded, obviously still deep inside the story.

"But...that's not fair! Nixie!" My little sister moans, "What happens to Carlena? What happens to the seven sisters and the academy?"

"You're just going to have to find out next time!" I say with a wink. Galexia shakes her head furiously, sending her fluffy brown pigtails into a frenzy,

"It's not fair that I don't get to see what happens next because you wanna go talk to your giiiiirlfriend," she says angrily. On the last word, an evil smile begins to curl on her lips. I stop half-way to the door.

"Jaihra is NOT my girlfriend. And we have very important things to talk about," I retort hotly before rushing out of Galexia's frilly, pink bedroom and down the stairs, taking the story book with me. The wood steps creak under my feet as I race down, nearly slipping on the last one.

"Yeah, Jaihra, he's coming," I hear my 21-year-old sister, Andromeda, say, Rounding the corner, I can see her leaning against the counter in a red tank top and shorts, her long brown hair in a messy braid over one shoulder. She has my phone tucked between her hear and shoulder while she casually flips through pages of her sketchbook, twirling a bright blue pencil with her free hand.

"I'm here!" I yell breathlessly in her face.

"Took you long enough," she says, rolling her eyes and handing over the phone, "go take your chatting upstairs. You two 'll talk my ears off. Upstairs!" She commands, pointing her pencil.

"Hi Jaihra!" I greet into the phone.

"Hi Pheonix! Ummm...are you alone??" She asks cautiously, "I have an update on...you know...project Milky Way Sorceress and...uh...the Precious Stone School," she hints not-so-subtly.

"Yeah, just a sec," I answer, dashing back upstairs to my room and bouncing onto my bed.

"Okay! Shoot!" I exclaim, tossing down the story book beside me. It flips open to the title page; which is covered with words I'm glad Galexia can't read yet.

For my nephew, Pheonix. I hope you enjoy my charming adventures!!! Please keep in mind that these are all absolutely true and my heroism was not exagerated in the least. Hope that you can soon join me in Jewel Academy! Once you set out on your journey to find it, that is.

Your Aunt Carlena, the spunky Galaxy Witch

P.S. do not show this to anyone or I may have to incenerate them.

I let the book cover slide closed. Yeah, Galaxia, we do have important things to talk about.

@Rogue... I'm not completely sure how silver magic would work. Maybe Sacra's had a parent with white magic and a parent with black, they sort of combined and gave Sacra hybrid magic or something? As long as it's not OP or anything, I guess it would be fine, but Rose bud makes the final call. Anyhow.

@Rose bud: Maybe at Jewel Academy there's some sort of training for the non-magical characters who have gifts, so they don't get completely left out?

That sounds really cool! I was thinking that Earth didn't have magical people, so the crew wouldn't fit in. Maybe Sacra is an Earthling who secretly has magic, and doesn't know what is wrong with her??? The posibilities are endless. Welcome to the madness Rogue! :D

Thanks Fidelity!... I think... Anyhoo, @Aspen don't worry it won't be OP. I usually get inspiration from pictures so Imma go look at some pictures of silver and stuff like that in order to shape silver magic's "personality" ;P

Silver magic~

Can be explained to some extent by the phrase 'silent and slow death'. Silver magic is good for fighting but is strategic and wise, and always seems to know what the right thing to do is. It is very hard to control, possibly the most hard. It chooses who it manifests, and does not change them. Only specific people with specific personalities, minds, goals, and hearts are chosen by this incredibly picky magic type. Never cross this magic. If you do, fear for your life. Nothing will be able to stop it.

It's one weakness is its weilder. Like a loving dog, it cares for the person it manifests. Silver magic may be powerful and smart, but it will always put it's weilder above everything else.

~~

Since silver magic is different from the rest, I wanted it to have a little bit of a personality. :) If it's too OP, which I think it isn't because it's unruly and has a weakness, just ask and suggest things that would make it better. :)

Can I make another charrie? I was thinking about girl who's a regular human from earth and travels around as a magician's assistant--like, a fake magician. So she can do fake-magic (the hand tricks, card tricks,...), but not real magic. She somehow accidentally gets on board, and stows away with them... maybe she could develop something like Jaihra's power of seeing auras after a while of being with the magical peeps. Does that sound alright?

For sure make another charrie! I have 3 already :P I think it's a good way of changing things up a bit and keeping the story interesting. That sounds really neat. And honestly, a stowaway would be hilarious. I can just picture what everyone's crazy reactions would be.

Guys, we are now over 250 posts, and have been writing for exactly four months. I think that’s amazing, considering we didn’t post charrie sheets, and we haven’t had to top this thread very much. We’ve probably written 125 or so parts! Is that right? Maybe less, but wow, that seems like a lot. Anyway, good work everyone, whether you just joined or you were here from the first page. I hope this RP continues to thrive~

@Rogue I'll get right on landing that ship :) or rather, Dom will. Silver magic sounds cool! I can't wait to see how it originated. Maybe Earth beings are different when it comes to magic forming in them.

@Aspen I totally wasn't trying to leave the non-magic folks out!!! And I have a feeling Jaihra is not going to let Pheonix go to Jewel Academy without her. I don't know what will happen, but that sounds like a good idea.

@Fidelity good idea! It will be so hilarious to see a fairy and humans from such a secluded and controlled planet interact with Earth. Maybe this could lead to some interesting backstory for Sacra, too.

@Everyone I was thinking about naming the home planet of some of our characters. What about Monére, root of "monitor," that means to warn? It's kind of fitting, because they were warned about magic there and it forced them to set off on their journey and their lives were also oppressingly monitored.

Phoenix~

As the ship dives towards the huge expanse of blue and greens swathed in almost surreal mist, I can't help but feel a little awed.

And I thought nothing could surprise me after fairlyland. But Earth looks so beautiful and simple, and there's so much untamed, undeveloped greenery roaming around the huge blots of blue. Wow. I've never seen so much water before.

Heat and pressure close in around the ship as it picks up speed. I can feel it crushing in around my ears. I try to focus on my magic, using it with the others to help keep the ship together until we can land, but I know I'm not helping much. And this is too big of a project for my yellow magic. Augh, why can't I have cool magic like everyone else? I mean, I know it's exceptional to have magic at all, but why is everyone else's so much neater than mine? Why did I get chosen by yellow magic? Did the all-powerful force of magic-choosing think that Lyra is better then I am to get that awesome white magic and those totally cool wings? What did I do that isn't as good? Surely I'm combat magic worthy, right? I mean, I'm the best junior pilot to get kicked out of training early. And even Jaihra's ability to read auras is cooler than the ability to have a slight yellowish force around my fingers.

And to be really, truly, completely honest, I'm a little jealous of Dom's pilot skills.

That doesn't mean he's better than me it's just...

ugh. Forget I said that.

As we break through the atmosphere, I glance at Galexia next to me. She's shaking slightly, and. I can feel her power output. She's the one holding this ship together. And she's hating every minute of it. Suddenly, my self-centered thoughts dissipate. Magic isn't a competition. And Galexia is suffering from it.

On a sudden impulse, I reach across the center aisle and grab her hand. My fingers become warm, and I feel the soft, yellow power cupped there. I try to send gentle waves of reassurance to Galexia, but I'm not really good at that sort of thing, so I don't really know if I'm helping her or just stretching one of her hands across the aisle of the airship.

And then she smiles at me. A real, warm smile from sister to brother. I feel the warmth of my power flowing through her and strengthening her magic.

And then we plunge into the ocean.

The crash jars the whole ship. I'm pulled forward, the seatbelt yanking across my waist.

As soon as we settle in the water and I can get my bearings, however, I unbuckle as quickly as I can and race to the front. The top of the ship bursts through the waters in a bubbly foam to reveal...more water.

In every direction and out every window. Well, this is anti-climatic. We risked our lives and our ship and our only hope was to make it here?

Boring.

"We did it!" Andromeda exclaims, taking her elbows off the control dash where she had put them to protect her head.

"You sound surprised," Dom says.

"Oh no, I had complete confidence...in Jaihra's problem solving skills!"

"Oh, come on," Dom rolls his eyes and starts methodically tapping at the controls. I hear a seatbelt click from the back of the ship, then another. Jaihra and Raja walk up to the front of the ship with me.

"I see a blip on the navigation screen," Raja points out.

"Looks like an island," Jaihra says.

"Let's go!" I exclaim.

"Whoa, not so fast," Andromeda says with a playful smile, "we need to do some reconnaissance. We don't know what Earth is like yet."

Sacra~

I collapse on the sand of the beach, looking out at the water. Cool, salty water laps at my feet. I lean back on my arms, elbows locked, and close my eyes. Not a moment later, my eyes snap open and I race to the water's edge. A ship of sorts is falling. Falling from the sky. And as I watch it, something stirrs inside of my soul. Oh, no...

Here's my new charrie! A bit of background: she's thirteen, an orphan, and works as a magician in a traveling circus. She has no magic, but is very adept at fake magic, the sleight-of-the-hand tricks type. And also, the place where they're going to land is Hawaii in my post... feel free to change the location if y'all have a better idea!

~ Myrtle ~

"Baggage claim this way! Baggage claim this way!"

I grip the strap of my brown leather messenger bag tightly. It contains all I need for my tricks. My magic. I smile gently as I finger the buckle. What grand secrets it contains! Enough to make me a living with the circus.

I follow the other members of the circus to the baggage carousel for our flight from London, which happened to be my hometown. It had been a pleasant visit home, but I was ready for more adventure. And judging by the stories I'd heard from an acrobat and elephant trainer, Hawaii was full of adventure.

I see my black suitcase rolling towards me and quickly grab it, pulling it off the moving belt. I extend the silver handle. Soon, all the others have grabbed their baggage as well.

"Everyone, this way!" Calls the ringmaster, gesturing at us. We all follow him out of the airport and the humid Honolulu air hits me. I open my hand, palm up, before me and can almost feel the moisture gathering on it.

"Hot, huh?" an acrobat sidles up to me. Her caramel colored hair has vibrant highlights in it of various different colors. Under the spotlights, they always look dazzling as she soars through the air, her bright leotard shimmering. But now, she's in casual clothes with her hair up in a ponytail.

I nod with a smile, "It's as humid as Singapore."

"Almost," she corrects with a wag of her finger, "Nothing can match that place!"

I shrug and nod, "I guess so."

Our conversation is cut off by a honking of a horn. We toss our suitcases into the trunk and board a van, rented just for our circus. The ringmaster sits in the driver's seat and looks back to make sure everyone is here.

"All on board?"

"Yes!" comes a chorus of voices.

"Alrighty, then, let's get going!"

He starts the van, and we drive off into Honolulu.

@Cassandra She’s British! I love her already. I think I have an issue with getting attached to every character in this RP.

This is a pretty long post... Sorry if I'm controlling the plot too much.

Jaihra <3

"Wow. I love this place. There's so much... blue. I wish our sky was that colour." Sam whispered, awestruck. I smiled. The past few weeks, Sam has seemed so stressed. But here she seemed so at peace, and I could see a faint light blue aura around her, like I used to see whenever she laughed. It was the same colour as the earth's clear, blue sky. It was definitely different than Monère's pale orangy-yellow.

"We don't know what earth is like yet. There could be officials looking for us. We should make a plan." Andromeda told us.

"We're going to need more fuel for starters." Dominique said. I glanced at the gas level. It was completely empty.

"We should also repair the left engine and fix the heat shield. The magic method worked, but we probably shouldn't try it again." Dathan added.

"Can we get food first? I'm starving." Saphira asked. We were out of food.

"We would be fine if Dominique and Andromeda hadn't devoured all the flowers." Raja eyed Dominique accusingly; he was in the middle of tossing the last fairyland flower into his mouth. He tossed it a little to far, and it landed on the floor. He reached down to pick it up.

"Domi don't eat that!" Dominique sighed. "Let's go get some food first then. I think Galexia is probably hungry."

Raja turned to Phoenix. "Race to the shore?"

"You're on. Raja, Jai, Sam, prepare to lose!" Sam rolled up her sleeves.

"No magic!"

"Ok mom!"  I rolled my eyes. Somethings never change.

I watched as Phoenix took a running start, and majestically flopped into the water. I dove in after him.

;-; ;-; ;-; ;-;

After our race, Andromeda dried us off ("we have to make a good impression!"). The town was very picturistic; nothing like the plain grey government building back at home.

The first thing I noticed was that we were attracting a fair amount of attention.

"Where are we going?" Asked Galexia, who was nervously tugging on the hem of Andromeda's tank top.

"We're just looking around honey, this place is very unfamiliar. Maybe if we found someone with magic or something."

"That boy has wings!" Zephyr exclaimed. We looked at who he was looking at. A 15 or 16 year old boy was sitting in his car. He was wearing a light brown trenchcoat, and sure enough, he had a pair of black wings. He got out of his seat, and started walking toward Lyra.

"Um hi!" Lyra said.

"I love your cosplay, those wings are pretty cool." The boy said. "I'm Isaac."

"Cosplay?"

"Like dressing up? It took me for ever to make these." And, I kid you not, he took off his wings! Lyra looked suprised.

"Woah, those are very realistic. I'm Lyra." She replied. Zephyr, Lyra, and Saphira held their wings still.

"Nice to meet you! I hope to see you tomorrow!" He shot one last smile at Lyra, then walked away.

"Lyra, Saphira, if anyone asks you about your wings, say it's cosplay." Zephyr said, breaking the silence.

"Look!" Phoenix pointed to a large poster. It had a picture of two girls hanging upside down on it. One of them had caramel hair with multicoloured streaks, and the other had bright blue hair. "That girl has blue magic!" Her hair was the exact same shade as Andromeda's.

"That's a start at least." Dom said. "The arrows are pointing towards that giant tent thing. I looked in the direction he wa pointing, and sure enough, there was a red and white tent being set up on the beach.

However, I was more focused on the figure of a girl lying next to the tent. She was surrounded by an aura. A silver one?

;-; ;-; ;-; ;-;

The cosplay part was a headcanon I had for a while XD. While writing this part, I fell in love with Isaac, so I think I might make him my second charrie, just for when they're on earth. If you know who he was cosplaying as, mad props.

~

I dive headfirst into the water and feel the clear inner lid of my eye slide into place, protecting it. The water is much clearer than in my home planet, wich has murky purple water. I propell myself off of the boat and screech forward, my cheekes puffed out with held in air. my tail thrashing around behind me, I think of how miserable I will be after this, then quickly shake the thought out, as a school of fish cross my path, I grab one for later and continue on my path to shore. I emerge for a breath, and look to see that pheonix is around 20 feet behind me. (I'm assuming that he's human.) I shudder as the cold licks my wet hair/fur and submerge myself into the water once again. I kick off, and feel sand under my feet, dispite being up to my neck in water. I feel something crawl over my foot and yelp, falling over in the water. I come up, sputtering water and shuddering as I make my way to the beach, I see Pheonix already ten feet from the shore, as I was. We stare ateach other, then our competitive instincts kick in and we both make a dive for the white sand. We both flop onto it, neither seeing who got there first, each getting a mouthful of sand. I spit out sand, my ears and tail, heavy with water. The green fur sticking to my equially wet, lilac hair. I wipe off the sand on my face, as Pheonix asks, " Who came first?" To Andromeda, who came in, fashionably from being dropped off by Zephyr and his wings.

" I couldn't tell." She says, shrugging it off.

" Come ON!" I say, huffily. " I got my fur wet for this, tell us the truth!"

" I am."

Andromeda, please tell us!" Pheonix beggs, his eyes, widening, to try and look more convincing.

" I'm not lying." Adromeda says, matter-of-factly.

To prove my anger, I  stand up, walk within five feet of he, and shake myself. Watter sprays all directions. After a good ten minutes of shaking and protesting from Pheonix, who was also in the 'splash zone'. I was relatively dry by the end of it, and watched as the others made their way to the ship. I hear someone say behind me, "Nice cossplay, where did you get the ears and tail?" I tense and turn to face them, tail swishing.

" Cossplay?" I say, comfused. " If you're asking about the ears and tail, I got them from my parents?" I say, not completely knowing how to respond to a strager.

He gaped at my neon pink eyes, and tatoos, with the lilac hair and dark skin, adding to the ears and tail. " Cool! What are you cossplaying as?"

" I don't know what you're talking abou-" I was cut off by Pheonix dragging me back a few steps.

The stranger smiled, his green eyes glinting. He shook his head with a chuckle, his black hair swaying with the motion. " I'm Fleatcher, It seems like you need some help with..." He motioned to the area where our ship had been. " You need some assistance." HE corrected himself, straitening as he tokk a step forward. " Forgive me from statimg the obvious, but you're not from here, green."

I nod, "And you, are you from here?"

He shook his head, smiling. " Not even close. I'm a lizardfoalk, good with masking magic, to help me hide my..."He flashed his discuise down a little for a second, his tan skin turning into crimson scales, and his face turning lizard-like form then back human again. " Unruly appearence." He finished. HE waved a friend over. " This is my buddy peter. He's human, but a great walking dictionary."

I smiled a little as I felt Pheonix stiffen beside me. I could almost feel the annoyance radiating off of him. NEw people, new friends.

~~

I was thinking Fleatcher and Peter are in a relasionship, and after they get off of earth, they could leave the group again. Possibly toshow up later as Peter as the irarian of Jewl and Fleatcher as a professor? Anyone s welcome to play them!

This is great, Tyberious, but we decided that maybe there isn't magic on earth, making Sacra one of the only people (this has to do with her manifesting silver magic instead of a regular magic), so it's unlikely that people with magic would coincidentally run into each other, much less spot magic when they see it (that's Jaihra's gift). So maybe we can keep the characters but make them non-magical or otherwise? Earth is kind of not part of the intergalactic goings-on and galexial magic.
