Auzrivlia RP

AUZRIVLIA: ROLE PLAY

Well,

I am starting a role-play, finally!

Auzrivlia is a story I've been working on for some time, but it doesn't seem to be going anywhere, and it's a wee bit too similiar to some of my other stories, so I figure I'll put it out on the CB and see what happens. No-one has to join, I just figured I'd try it out...

Okay then!

Auzrivlia is a city made of gems and enclosed by a magical mountain range, so no-one can get in. Long ago it was founded by two people, Gemani and Orion (yes, named after the constellations). Gemani accidentally woke an ancient spell which endowed all her descendents with magical powers, while Orion's descendants remained normal.

Back then, Auzrivlia was a place of welcome, with merchants and travelers coming in and out. But then an evil lord rose to power, overthrew the leaders, and closed Auzrivlia's borders. His descendants rule Auzrivlia today and use its power to take other countries.

Here are the descendants' possibe powers, but your character can be normal, too.

Manipulator--you can make anyone do what you want, but it takes a serious physical toll.

(Note: with all these elemental powers, you can semi-control the element--but only if it wants to listen.)

Watercurver--you can speak to water.

Firecurver--you can speak to fire.

Windcurver--you can speak to wind (although in this case it's called singing with the wind).

Earthcurver--you can speak to the earth, plants and stones especially.

Ethercurver--you can speak to the matter of the universe.

Animspeaker--you can speak to animals.

Emoreader--you can read emotions.

Telewave--you can hear thoughts.

Telekenetic--you can move things with your mind.

Futureseer--you can see the future.

Mage: you have all these powers.

Ok, that's it, but it's worth noting that, thought the characters don't know it yet, we should keep in mind that the rulers are lying and there is a way for "normal" people to have powers. I'm not actually sure what that way is yet. And mages are mysteriously vanishing…

One last thing: no-one knows if they have a power or not until they turn 13.

Please:

Be respectful of others in this roleplay.

Don't role-play overly with other people's characters, no more than is necessary for the story.

But, also, introduce twists! Fun things! Unexpected turns! Secrets! Keep things moving forward!

Of course, no-one has to join. But, as I said, this is just a fun experiment on my part!

Ok. Charrie sheet! You can be as detailed or brief as you like.

I am also open to suggestions for improvement of RP quality.

I slowly kept over to the fight that was happening. I've been hearing a LOT of fighting lately and I'm not sure if this is normal or not. Vacinations? The orphanage owner was terrified of needles and never had the kids vacinated for anything. And my adopted parents belive in only using home made remides.

~Anica~

"What are you doing Albert?! I screamed this moring. I woke up and there was a giant bug staring at me! I hate my brother!

~Albert~

Anica's reaction? Pricless! That's what you get for claiming that your older than me just because they found you first!

||AUDRUN||

I was back in an elevator. Great.

…I was really starting to hate the elevator.

The Governor huffed and puffed, slumping against the wall and muttering how stressful it was to see his mother. Meanwhile my powers seemed to be returning. My head began to clear.

I couldn’t read the Governor’s thoughts—he had too high a mental blocking—but I could hear the murmur of other minds behind closed wooden doors.

And…what was that?

A new mind but with a different feel, drawing closer and closer…

Then suddenly hundreds of similar minds burst into my consciousness. I would’ve been overwhelmed except that they were all quiet, as though asleep. Still, they thrummed with power.

I’d felt minds like this before…but where?

Venatici took out a large ring of keys and counted them on his fingers, grunting under his breath. Finally he selected one marked with a large red triangle. The elevator doors slid open.

Venatici grumbled his way down the hallway, dragging me behind him.

“You know,” I said, “you don’t have to pull me. I’ll come.” It was true, too. I wanted to see what was making those minds.

Venatici carefully inserted the key into the keyhole and turned it hard. There was a creak and the great metal door slid open.

I peered through the doorway and stopped.

Inside was a long room, very quiet and still. Each wall was lined with tanks filled with a weird glowing blue liquid. It looked like something out of a movie, and yet there it was.

`           And inside the tanks were people.

I swallowed my yelp as the governor stomped into the room and started hollering at the top of his lungs. “Monoceros. MONOCEROS! GET UP HERE, YOU DUMB. KID!”

A teenage guy slouched into view, scowling. “What.” His eyes fell on me. “Oh look. Another one.”

Another one?

“You can bring up #m102,” Venatici snapped. “And take this one.”

I backed up soundlessly as Monoceros stomped off. Think, Audrun. You can figure this out. Who are these people in the tanks? Mages, obviously. I smacked my forehead. That’s what he meant by ‘another one.’ These are all the mages who disappeared…

I looked around, wincing at all the equipment. But what are they doing to them? Obviously they aren’t dead, or I wouldn’t be able to hear their minds…they’re in an induced sleep state from that weird blue stuff, I guess. But what is it? What are they doing to them?

Thinkthinkthink.

Cassiopeia is obviously the real one in charge here. So what is she doing to all these unconscious mages?

She’s so many thousands of years old, if she was really Orion and Gemini’s sibling…how is she alive? Is she immortal? Or…

A chilling thought struck me. Could she somehow be harnessing these mages powers and using it to keep herself alive?

That must be it…but is that it?

There must be something else, not just that.

But what?

Just then Monoceros reappeared, carrying an unconscious girl.

I jumped, then paused. This girl was a mage—I could feel the power in her mind. But where had she been?

“As for you, you’re coming with me,” Monoceros announced, grabbing my wrist.

I held out my hands, trying to find the power. But it was no use. I couldn’t use it in here. It was somehow a dull zone.

Something sharp punctured my arm. I thought, ouch, no. What now? Then everything faded away into darkness.

||Haley||

Vito led me, Staphanie, and Tsume through the forest. I suspected Crystal was following from a distance, but I didn't mention anything.

"So where are we going?" I asked Vito.

He spared me a single glance. "We're going to rescue Audrun. Duh."

"Oh, good!" I said. "What if we get caught?"

To this he did not deign to reply.

I worried the entire way. At the edge of the forest. we got into Vito's car and drove away.

As we went I wondered, in my heart, what was going to happen....

I'm just going to assume that futerseers can see up to a week into the futer, and that's if they try SUPER hard.

~Anica~

Am I allowed to kill my brother? No, then Master Vorti would kill ME! Even though everyone likes to say that Albert is my side kick, Master Vorti LOVES him. Uuuuggggg! I love him, BUT I HATE HIM TOO! After telling all of this to my imanginary friend Zuzu, walked out of the cabin super alret in case of follow up bug attacks. I was looking left and right yet somehow I didn't a tree and ran right into it. " FOR THE LOVE OF BEATELS, BUGS, AND BANANAS THAT HURT!" I said. (Her way of swearing without swearing.) I ranback into the cabin and scribbeled down,"Going for a run. Be back at 10:00 a.m." There. Then I walked outside and ran into the woods. The sound of bird song and bees buzzing cleared my head and I didn't hit a single tree until I reached the road. Which way to go. Stretching out my mind I seached for cars. I heard nothing until,"Where are we going? Who even is this guy?" Usally I avoid strangers, but this one was strangly... intruging. Before I could lose my nerve I started jogging toward the sound. ( 1 hour later...) "What is this place?" I asked outloud. I was so used to only seeing the green of nature ocasunally sliced by a road no one used that a city? I'd only ever read aboutm them. Suddenly, " Are we there yet?" The voice! The intruging voice! I sprinted toward it and stopped in front of a car parking. Three girls climed out of the back and passanger seats and stared at me. A little voice in my head said, 'You've seen these girls at camp before! And you stick out because of the neon pink hair!' But I ignored it. Finally one of the girls asked, "Who are you?"

Ok I really have no clue where this is going.

A girl with pink hair burst out of the woods. Vito stopped the car and frowned at her.

"Who are you?" I asked.

"My name is Anica," she said nervously. "Who are you guys?"

"I'm Haley--" I started. Then Vito reached back and jabbed my arm.

"Haley," he said sharply. "Don't give your identity away to just anybody. You," he said to the girl, "explain who you are and why you're following us."

I watched Vito for a bit, making sure he was actually doing what he said. Luckily, I hgad made a spell which allowed me to see where people are and what they are doing. I can't hear what they say though. After a bit, I stop watching and go over to Voyti.

"Ja, Crystal?" Voyti says.

"Are you going to have people hunt for food, or do we have enough?" I asked.

"Im Moment haben wir genug." Voyti says. "But maybe soon to ensure we have enough."

"OK..." I said.

"You don't know what I said, did you?" he says.

"Nope."

"Well, you should learn the ancient language. Dann wirst du es verstehen." he says.

"Uh..."

"I will be happy to give you lessons."

"Sure. Why not."

||AUDRUN||

I woke up and found myself in a huge cavern, crystal stalactites hanging from the roof. I felt oddly empty and chilled.

"Hello?" I called. "Is anyone there?"

A vault door opened in the side of the cave, and Monoceros slouched in.

"What happened?" I inquired as he dragged me out of the cave.

He shrugged. "They extracted some of your power, I guess. Don't really care."

"WAIT WHAT" I said. Something weird and creepy just EXTRACTED POWER out of me?! GET ME OUT OF HERE NOW. I stayed quiet, though, until we returned to the room where the mages in tanks were.

The governor was waiting. "MONOCEROS GO AWAY," he snarled as soon as he saw the boy. Monoceros shrugged and left. I couldn't help feeling a little bad for him.

Me and the governor faced eachother. He was right in front of the door, and I couldn't help but wonder if he was getting ready to flee.

"So?" I said. "You're extracting power from mages. Why?"

"As if I'd tell you," he snapped.

I tried a different tack. "What's wrong with Monoceros?"

"Oh," said the governor boredly. "He was our first experiment. He used to be a mage, but we extracted all his power, so he's pretty useless."

I gaped for a minute. Monoceros used to be a MAGE?! YIKES. Then my mind caught up. "Wait, you didn't extract all my power?!"

"Of course not. We only extract a little at a time, and then you...redevelop it, and we extract it again."

"I see..." I trailed off, my mind racing. So Cassiopeia is extracting our power...I gave a start as I realized that I was thinking of mages as a seperate body.

Which we kind of are. I shivered.

"Well, whatever. Get in your tank," snapped the governor.

"What?!" I snapped.

He gave me a weird look. "I SAID to get into your tank."

"WHAT? No!"

He stared at me like I'd just grown twenty-six heads. "What did you just say?"

"I said, No way, José! I am NOT getting in your stupid tank!"

He sighed gloomily. "Back to the drawing board," he muttered. Then he turned around and said, "MONOCEROS! Get back up here and put this mage in his tank!"

Monoceros stomped back in. "What the HECK? You just told me to LEAVE."

"I know, but this mage is refusing to get in his tank." This seemed odd; who would go in one of those weird creepy tanks just because the were told? "Now put him in there."

Monoceros turned towards me.

"I am not getting in that tank!" I said.

"Then I'll make you," he said boredly.

I grinned. "You can try.

"So how are we going to save Audrun?" I asked.

Vito spread his hands. "I use my powers to sneak us in, and then we find him and rescue him. It's that simple."

The odd pink-haired girl had actually had the nerve to chase the car until Vito had relented  and allowed her to come, and now she said, "That...doesn't sound simple."

"Trust me. It is."

I was having some trouble trusting Vito. He had made my friend into...an EXPERIMENT? "So....are you with a group or something?" I asked.

"Yes, a resistance group similar to your little mage camp," he answered.

I seethed, since it wasn't MY mage camp. But whatever! "Why aren't they helping us?"

"They sent ME to do it," he answered. "Now be quiet so I can drive."

Instead I opened my mind and, hoping Crystal was listening, shouted, CRYSTAL! If you're listening, I don't trust Vito! Can you follow us?

I was in the middle of my lesson when I heard a message.

I sent a message back.

I'M BUSY! And never trust him. I do know he is part of a resitance... BUT STILL DON'T TRUST HIM! I will help later. I am learning the old language.

"Etwas stimmt nicht?" Voyti asked.

"Uh, no?" I say, trying to remember what that meant.

WHAT?! I mentally screamed at Crystal.

I'm busy, what would voyti say if i ran out of here randomly? she says scathingly. I was just thinking how rude she was when i remembered this was the same girl who had thought Audrun was betraying us.

"Here we are," said Vito quietly, stepping out of the car.

I stared up at the city. I had never been there before, but it was so big--glistening and shining with gems and pearl and marble.

It only made me angrier.

Why do they get all this just because they have powers? it's so unfair! I thought.

Vito glanced back at us. "What are you prepared to do for Audrun?"

I open my mouth, but just then, a car pulls up, and two police officers drag an unconcious girl from inside it.

Celesti?!

|||||||

||Adurun||

Monoceros dives at me. I  hold up my hand and feel a shiver run through me as my powers return. "Fall asleep," I ordered.

He immedietly collapsed to the floor, unconcious.

I feel the familiar exhaustion that comes with manipulating and struggle to stay on my feet, but I needn't have worried. The governor looks at me in utter terror, then turns on his heel and streaks from the room, shrieking, "CASSSIIIIIIIOOOOOPPEEEEEIIIIIIAAAA! HELP!"

In minutes, I am alone in the room.

I glance at Monoceros, wait a few minutes, and then leave.

I have some exploring to do.

@Pancake, your characters shouldn't find Audrun for a bit (he needs time to explore the building)

Voyti was almost done with todays lesson. Once he finished, I sent a mind message to Haley.

I can benutze mein powers to watch over you and tell you if someone is coming. However, I will not be able to hear any sound, so my help is limited to sight.

Haley said back, WHAT DOES BENUTZE MEIN MEAN?

SO I said, Sorry, I forgot my lesson was over. It means "use my".

Haley said, Oh, ok. Sounds great!

I told her, I can only help for a few hours before I have to go to bed. Camp rules. However, I can help using my powers by listening.

Haley yelled in her head, I THOUGHT YOU COULD ONLY USE SIGHT?!?!

I yelled back, I CAN ONLY USE ONE AT A TIME!!! AND SIGHT IS WAY MORE USEFUL!!!

||Cassiopeia||

The rebellious mage had been caught. All was well.

Nevertheless, Cassiopeia felt uneasy. Her futureseeing power was the only one that never really worked well, it just gave her quick glimpses or feelings—and as of this moment she was having a very uneasy feeling that she was teetering on the edge of her throne, about to plunge into the Abyss.

And it all had something to do with Audrun Spikelet.

She stood up and began to pace. What was taking Venatici so long? He should be back by now.

She closed her eyes and sighed. Perhaps she should’ve taken his advice and executed this troubling mage before he even had a chance to defy her.

||||||||||||||

||Audrun||

I edged out the door. Unfortunately, my foot caught on the rug!

The guards all turned in surprise and I spun on my heel and ran up the hallway. They shouted and gave chase.

My whole plan hinged upon the fact that I could escape them…which wasn’t hugely likely.

I kept running. I paused by the elevator, which was traveling down, apparently, and kept running until I reached the stairs. There, I raced up to the next floor.

This floor was fancier, with a long balcony overlooking what appeared to be a ballroom. I glanced behind me. The guards were catching up.

Just great. I decided I could only do one thing.

I backed up, placing my back against the railing overlooking the ballroom. The guards stopped, seeming surprised. The leader barked a few orders in the weird language, then cleared his throat.

“Audrun Spikelet, you are to come with us peacefully or we will use lethal force if necessary.”

I frowned, my heart pounding. There was no reason they needed me. They had the other mages. I was expendable.

But I had information—vital information—for the mages back at camp. I had to escape with my life.

Then I started to think. These guards, however tough they seemed, had likely grown up with fear and hatred of mages implanted in their brains. At the very least, they expected me to be evil and dangerous (which I wasn’t.)

I thought back to a play I’d participated in, back when I was in elementary school. I’d been cast as the villain, an easy role to play.

It would be just as easy now.

I snorted. “You really think you can hurt me?” I smirked at them. “I’m about ten times as powerful as any one of you! I could crush you with my little finger!” I did not let on that my powers weren’t really working right.

The guards exchanged glances, then the leader spoke again. “Cassiopeia has commanded that we do not let you escape. If we do, she might execute us!”

I paused, then opened my mouth, then closed it again.

These guards were prisoners too, but in a different way. Prisoners of fear. Cassiopeia controlled them through threats, through subtle intimidation. And if they dared to disobey her, she’d make an example out of them.

I stared at the ground. How could I doom these guards to such a fate? Was my life really that important?

But I couldn’t—couldn’t—be captured. There were hundreds of mages down there that had to be freed.

I held my hand out towards the guards. “Cassiopeia’s rule will not last much longer.” I tried to sound confident. “We’re going to take her down.”

The guards snorted. “You and what army?”

“You’d be surprised.” I braced myself against the railing. “Cassiopeia will not be able to stand against us. If you get out of here now—if you hide well—you might have a chance. She may be gone before they catch you.”

The guards looked like they might be considering it. But then one of them shook his head.

“Sorry kid. I’d like to believe you. But mages can’t be trust—”

I didn’t wait for him to finish his sentence. I kicked him over, shoved the others out of the way, and leaped over the railing.

It turned out the ballroom was a whole floor down and the landing hurt, but I didn’t break any bones because I was able to make a thin cushion of air around myself. As soon as I hit the ground, I leaped to my feet and dove behind one of the thick curtains at the edge of the ballroom.

A few minutes later, the guards came in in a thunder of boots. “WHERE IS HE?!”

They started rushing through the room, tearing up tables. One started checking the curtains. it wouldn’t be long until I got caught.

Rapidly, I cast a spell to hide myself, then slunk along the wall. When I reached the door, I bolted. no doubt the guards would spend useless hours searching the ballroom.

As for me, I had other searching to be doing.

||Haley||

CRYSTAL, this is a matter of life or death! I shrieked at her. YOU need to GET OVER HERE now andf help us find Audrun!

She sounded bored as she replied, Master'll be furious if I leave.

SO be it! Audrun is in danger and he might be the only one who can save us! Do you want to be known as the Mage Who Didn't Help?
