I've had a cuple posts changed or edited slightly by the admins and I feel kinda bad becuase I don't mean to make something not CB-aproperaite or mean or anything, but I might have a couple times.

Also it drives me a bit crazy when it's not that mean or inapropraite but gets edited or even not posted, but no judgement to admins or anything you're doing AMAZIN stuff

I know this is a hard to give advice for but if someone could try it would be greatly appreciated.

Sometimes I feel like I'm super immature for my age. I just can't be myself in public because I don't want people to judge me, and even my younger sister is more mature than me sometimes.

Hmm, I don't know what kind of advice to give you "embrace yourself" or "how to act more mature" advice… or something different? Which are you need of?

I mean, are you saying you feel you are immature in the way you act, or your interests? Or both? Could I trouble you to give me more specific examples so I can give you something proper and less generic?

I have this a little bit sometimes, and I say don't worry too too much about it. There's way to much pressure on kids, especially older tweens to younger teens, to grow up faster, act mature faster, not act like a 'little kid'. But... honestly it's so fun! And maybe you can find a kind of yourself that's a bit more mature to use in public, but when you're at home, be silly! You'll have plenty of adult years to be mature and... hehe... boring. Jk, but u seriously don't need to worry that much, as long as you're not, like, screaming your head off and running around crashing into people or something like that. And if it's about crying, crying as a older tween, teen, and even adult is totally normal. It actually is really good, becuase it's a way to let yourself feel the way you feel and not fight it. If you fight your feeling and hold them in you're foing to feel worse, not better. I can totally see being embarrassed of crying in public tho, that's happened to me a lot of times. I kinda wish crying wouldn't be such a... idk, extreme? Thing to do in public, becuase if you start crying everyone starts looking at you or asking you if you're okay, and sometimes you just need to cry. I feel like people have made crying a thing that's embaressong and weird to do in public, and it's very frustrating. Like, everybody does it, and it's not inappropriate, and it's not hurtful to others. Anywayyy this has turned into a rant srry. Bye.

i like someone who's a year younger than me.

and society tells everyone around me that its weird for the girl to be older than the guy for some reason which just frustrates me so much!!!

and i told my friend about it and she doesn't understand how difficult it is for me and started teasing me and calling me a pedo as a joke

like is it actually that weird? i need to get an actual opinion on this helppp

No, I wouldn't call that weird. I don't think one year is a bad age difference at all, and I've met plenty of happily married couples with multiple years between them (I mean not like a decade or anything but I've definitely heard of people with like a three year age difference getting married). I myself have had crushes on kids in the grade below mine (and I've known other kids with crushes on people a year younger than them).

All of which is to say, yeah, you're probably fine. Don't let your friend bring you down!

Ok thank uuuu

And I definitely have met people who are married and like 15 years apart and thats also 100% fine. i guess its more just when your in middle school it feels so much different idk

just adding on here, sorry - yeah, a one year difference can feel like a lot more when you're in middle school because your brains are developing so rapidly, so i think it feels like there's a much bigger gap between ages because, for instance, a seventh and an eighth grader are at two different places mentally and different stages in their development

that being said, i don't at all think it's weird to have a crush on someone a year younger than you! personally, i've only ever had crushes on people in my grade (but then again i've only ever had two crushes (is that normal?)), but like Peri said, i've known plenty of people who've had crushes on people in the grade beneath them.

and yeah i feel like a lot of the time, society expects the guy to be older than the girl (and taller too...) which can be annoying.

i don't really know what other advice to offer, but uh i hope it gets better and your friend stops teasing you *thumbs up*

hahaa i have the same problem =) i think i'm a bit older than you (since you said you're in middle school) but i like someone who is like a year and a half younger than me and 2 grades below me (same gender situation as yours)...in my opinion a 1 grade difference is pretty normal but 2 feels super weird to me. so yeah it's fun

and with the girl/guy thing i feel like part of it is that society wants the male to be dominant in a relationship (yay patriarchy) and age gives them that. so don't worry about the gender thing. or any of it tbh i think your situation is pretty standard.

Hiiiii so it's actually me, Anastasia, lol. I don't rly care if people know it's me haha

Yup definitely patriarchy :(((

And my other problem with this is that he's also like....seven inches shorter than me. *screams into a pillow* I'm 5'7 (just nearly) and he's 5 foot. HELPPP

and tbh I've always dealt with liking people shorter than me, because, hello, im in 7th grade and im 5'7, lol. But that combined with him being younger than me....does not help at all.

Honestly I don't care that much, but like....and not to be weird....imagine how hard it would be to kiss? ....just saying....

ANYWAY I'll probably just deal with this the way i always do--aka pretending i don't like him until it becomes reality hahahaha

Howeverrrrr it does get a little better because there's this guy from my acting classes and he is actually my height (crazy i know) and you know when you keep sneaking glances at someone and then they are also doing that? because that was happening so....who knows maybe i'll get to know him and like him! which would be preferable lollll

im gonna make a thread to specifically talk about all this mess because i know a lot of ppl deal with stuff like this

I am totally, absolutely, completely livid at this one person. I am having a really hard time not leaving school and walking the 4 hours and 21 minutes (according to Google Maps) to their house to yell at them.

I'm just gonna scream for a sec

Don't mind me
